Pilgrim and Pocket Galaxy have never appealed to me since this meta is so fast. To get it to work right you have to add in even more slow cards in the form of draw.
Even Krizz doesnt pull his weight usually. I think tonight I'm going to try out a non-highlander dragonmage. I will post the results here.
Has anyone tried Highlander Dragon Paladin? It's a lot of fun as well and destroys hunter due to heals.
I'm trying to end the game by round 10 now with some more aggro leaning mods to this deck. Doesn't always work but I am catching people by surprise. They assume they have some time to set things up vs Mage. Hunter is still the major nemesis.
That's a good run Bluefin. So far I have gotten to rank 8-4* one win from rank 7 on a streak. Ranging rank 9-8 now, but every time I have a shot at rank 7 I get beat. 41 matches at 54% so far.
Lots of good decks and players up here. I am doing a lot better vs Face Hunter now but having a harder time with Shaman. Usually it's a tight fight but if he gets Shudderwock out I am done.
I also went with ooze over Stickyfinger for another early damager or easier to play weapon killer. I tried Stickyfinger for a while but gave up. Maybe you had better luck.
What did d you find was your most common win condition?
Wow, I didn't realize Zephyr was and Elemental Its9l.
Deck updated. Looking for any thoughts for improvement.
I intentionally tried to shift it to be more aggressive than standard Highlander Mage to defend vs Face Hunter and aggro but still put up a good fight later in the game. Plus I am missing the other key cards to make that deck. It does rely a lot on discovering the right spells for the right situation which seems to work out more often than not. Here's a list of the cards and why they are there for reference.
Made adjustments for the meta change and leaned harder on early face damage after dropping from rank 12 to 15. I got up to rank 8-5* so far in January in about 30 games with this deck. There are a few unsual cards but it seems to work.
I reluctantly put Ironbeak Owl in to help with Priest and Winged Guardian. The deck can go the distance vs Rez Priest and has survived several games vs 3x+ boosted Winged Guardians.
I think that I underestimated Firehawk. This cards can be an early monster if it survives and if it doesn't, it at least draws out some minion killers that would have hit a more key card later.
I also think I underestimated Goldwing. I would say that 1 in 3 times it drops an unplayable card, 1 in 3 times it drops a playable card and 1 in 3 times it drops an excellent card. Often those excellent cards can be hard to anticipate for opponents as they are not restricted to Mage. The 3/2 for 3 is okay too and fits into the early aggression theme. Plus it's a Dragon in a somewhat shallow pool of playable Dragon cards.
I am on the verge of removing Acidic Swamp Ooze becuase I am not finding a lot of weapons in use now. But the 3/2 for 2 is still very useful. I will have to see if I can find something else to sub in for it. I wonder if Evasive Chimaera might be playable. More of a later game play, just not sure if it will survive to attack often enough. Maybe Quicksand Elemental is playable.
If anyone wants to build and try it I'd love feedback on it. Just lean in early. I regularely play Zephyr on turn 2 to pull a Goldwing or Animal Companion. Use the discover cards to fill in gaps for the opponent you are facing and the situation you find yourself.

I used Grizzled Wizard against priests for a while. Swap HP before he completes the quest. Kill khartut or leave waterbrearer. It was fun. You can try it))
Hhhmmm, that could be interesting. I will try it, thanks. I may also give Mana Giant another try. Or perhaps Sandbinder to draw Zephyr or Mountain Giant.
Would you recommend Kalecgos or Alextrasza as my next legendary craft for this deck. Any other thoughts? It is meant to be a cheaper (though it is creeping up now) and play faster than the typical Highlander Mage.

Today I went straight from rank 14 to rank 9 with this deck without a single loss. What do you guys think? What ranks are you?

Well done!
Consider these cards:
Sandbinder - to pull Zephrys the Great (or siamat or giant is ok)
Conjurer's Calling - even for 4 mana still very strong (+ you play giant)
And more personal choice:
- I run Acidic Swamp Ooze instead of Kobold Stickyfinger to answer turn 3 anchar or necrium blade
- I run Elemental Evocation for more flexible zephrys combos or 5 mana siamat
Good luck with your deck and keep going!

Plus I am missing the other key cards to make that deck. It does rely a lot on discovering the right spells for the right situation which seems to work out more often than not. Arcane Breath - as long as you have enough dragons this card is great
Ray of Frost - low damage but seems hard to remove, can be used with Frostbolt and Frost Nova, can be useful at any time in the game
Acidic Swamp Ooze - used as early aggro or weapon kill depending on opponent
Faerie Dragon - early aggro with defense vs spells, make him use a minion to take him out that would otherwise hit your face
Firetree Witchdoctor - Deck needs it's spell discover, use the 2/2 to take out a minion (combo with hero or other damage if bigger)
Frostbolt - lots of value
Zephyr's the Great - awesome card, usually used late but I often use it for early aggro if it makes sense (pull an Animal Companion turn 2)
Cinderstorm - considered removing, but good for early clear and sometimes for direct hero damage (which this deck is short on)
Frost Nova - this card likely stays, freezing a board of minions can sometimes be better than clearing them
Ice Barrier - added for assistance vs face/aggro and seems to be worth it, only remaining secret in deck
Scalerider - excellent early card, usually takes out an early minion then start face hitting or take out another
Arcane Keysmith - tiny stats but important for pulling the right secret vs the given opponent at that specific time, frees up card slots
Azure Explorer - low stats but otherwise love this card, discovers another dragon so need less in deck, +2 damage is often huge
Bone Wraith - deceptively good early vs aggro and even later as a distraction from a more important minion
Conjurer's Calling - can sometimes sit in hand waiting for a time to use, but more often it can be key used on one of your cards or one of his
Evasive Feywing - dragon, most people would use Twilight Drake here but I am not sold in him, I prefer the spell protection and 5 attack
Polymorph - seems to be a must have, always wish I had more
Spellbreaker - took me a while to add this, should have earlier as silence seems pretty key now mid-late game
Big Ol'Whelp - dragon, okay card, nothing great, but reasonable from the pool of available dragons
Malygos, Aspect of Mage - 2 attack sucks but the upgraded Mage spells can be crucial, also can be a target for Conjurer's Calling if desperate
Rolling Fireball - always gets used, really like it, wish it could target heros
Blizzard - doesn't often do enough damage but can buy you some time to do the rest and or build your board, great with Azure
Dragoncaster - great card, makes running dragons worth it, aim for using with Power of Creation on turn 5/6
Evasive Wyrm - dragon, the 5 attack with rush and divine shield makes for a nice surprise attack which he survives
Khartut Defender - I wish I could take this card out for something more Mage or dragon specific, but I need the health and time it buys
Reno the Relicologist - wow, many impress, much power, so score, does a lot of minion damage and leaves a 4/6 on the board
Crowd Roaster - Not 100% sold, dies pretty easily but the 7 damage is often huge and if he survives to your next turn so is the 7 attack
Power of Creation - wonderful card
Dragonqueen Alexstrassa - so good she converted me to Highlander
Mountain Giant - I finally caved and crafted this, full value comes in combo with Conjurer's Calling, great early vs Face Hunter (nemisis)
