Discussion Topic Rules
To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your entry? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's entries? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!
All of that said, please refrain from the following:
Posting TONS of Ideas. Discussion topics become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
Advertising Your Entry. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is interesting?". Yes, getting feedback on your entry is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your entry for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.

KFT is the rough one for me, because you have to use Lifesteal if you're making a minion. I was thinking about making an "Unidentified Elemental" with different "if you played an Elemental last turn" Battlecries, but Lifesteal just doesn't fit with the flavor I was thinking of.
Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3

Back to the drawing board.
It is indeed restrictive. What about adding "if it's your opponent's turn" to the KFT mechanics?
Edit: why isn't Lifesteal one of the Unidentified options?

I have these pictures for a gas, water, and ice elemental, and thought it would be neat to make a Water Cycle connection. Lifesteal doesn't make much sense there.
We can include "if it's your opponent's turn" in the prompt; just forgot about it.

@OttawaCloset - I was struggling to come up with something similar; a Hero Card based around Recruit seemed like an easy way to go, but trying to shoehorn in something from Journey to Un'Goro was what kept tripping me up.
That said, Recruit specifically interacts with minions in your deck, not your hand, so you'd want to take that clause out. And the Hero Power just feels ridiculously weak; Feral Spirits is already a 5 mana card (given its 3 mana cost and 2 Overload), so tacking on another 2 mana on top of that, even if you have access to it whenever you want, is grossly inefficient.
You could easily make Rehgar 5 mana since it's already doing absolutely nothing the turn you play him, and the Hero Power could do something like shuffle no-effect elementals into your deck, so Rehgar always has something to Recruit. (At which point, though, you'd probably need a different shaman, since Rehgar is all about Spirits and Wolves and Spirit Wolves rather than Elementals)
Also Tar ('Has X during your opponent's turn.') for JTU if we're talking missing mechanics. Not sure if Rogue Secrets will count, though; never got any past K&C, right?
My idea, though I'm not entirely sure if it fills the criteria:
The versions will be:
Toxic Sludge: Stealth, Poisonous Volatile Sludge: Taunt,Deathrattle: If it's your opponent's turn, deal 1 damage to all enemies. Carnivorous Sludge: Battlecry: Deal 2 damage to a minion. If that kills it, Adapt.
Does this fill the criteria however, given the base card itself does not?
To balance out the stats and the Lifesteal, you have to keep playing Elementals for the effect to remain active. Can't be much worse than The Runespear.

Yea it was rough to come up with the initial idea. I wanted to tie in his spirit wolf form but yea. You may be right on his hero power being a shuffle, something along the lines of "Shuffle 2 copies of an elemental minion into your deck". Then have the recruit hit some of those elementals from your deck. Perhaps making a battlecry summoning feral spirits.
I'd get rid of the Deal 2 damage to all minions in Lawful-Good and just make it Give friendly minions +2/+2. The flavor of it becoming a more damaging spell the more evil/chaotic it gets while it becomes more of a buff type the more lawful/good it becomes.
Also Tar ('Has X during your opponent's turn.') for JTU if we're talking missing mechanics. Not sure if Rogue Secrets will count, though; never got any past K&C, right?
I don't think it would count since Secret is the mechanic and it's been in the game since classic.
Yeah, i think your current card is a bit broken. Maybe if it only adapted minions in deck it would be better, also maybe change cost to 9 or 8.
@OttawaCloset
I like your card, but elementals are kinda weak to recruit (They lose their battlecries too), maybe you should recruit any minion. I think hero power is too strong: 2/3 taunts every time you need to swarm the board or protect something, seems a little broken, maybe just add a random Shaman spell.
@Triple_Factorial
I like your card, i hope it'll be allowed to compete.
@Thezzy
I like your idea, but you need to find a better art and maybe change it's name to "Unindentified slime", i think it sounds better.
@ Wailor
I really like your concept, it's a bit tricky right now, because Lawful-Evil is kinda weak now, but if you change the effect to "deal 2 damage to all enemy minions" Chaotic evil will be OP. The only solution is to make Lawful-Good adapt minions instead of buffing them and change Chaotic-Evil to something else. Good luck with your card!
@linkblade91
Your concept is very good: simple and balanced!
@nobravery
Your concept is interesting, but it will be hard for some players to play legendaries or epics (because not all own enough of them), maybe you change it to manacosts or tribes. I like your reward too.
Well, the initial Quest should be outside, so mods can put it in final poll. Anyway, nice idea, but I would change charge to something more balanced. Also, it can be too complicated, so it can lose some votes.
@linkblade91
Well, i think it's pretty good idea. Good luck.
@Wailor
The poisonous one is probably too strong. Also, I don't realy like the buffing one.
@Thezzy
I like it, but you should make 4 different transformations, like all unidentified items have. Also, I think that Carnivorous Sludge can be a bit too strong.
@TripleFactorial
That's very neat! I wish it counts!
@OttawaCloset
For the first Recruit is only from deck. Also, I think it's too complicated.
@linkblade91
Cool concept, but yes, it can easily get out of control.
Sorry for not puting it in spoilers. I'm on phone.
Thoughts? My idea was if evolution/adaption is the strong traits winning out over the weak, killing the (weak) enemy minions would be the trigger to adaptation - the more you kill the more you adapt. And since the masters of evolution are shamans that would make the most sense thematically. Definitely has some OTK potential if you get say windfury & +3 attack, but I don't think its necessary overpowered since the adaptions could be a dud if you get say stealth and plants deathrattle.
And since i have 0 art skills I'm just going to "borrow" the art that already exists - and tanzanite is a lovely color.

First idea.
This is very rough at the moment because balancing this effect is very tricky.
EDIT: I just noticed that Shrouding Mist or Liquid Membrane could be very problematic.

Couldn't KoFT technically also use the 'Death Knight' cards from Arfus/Lich King?
"I wish you hadn't done that, that was Weyoun's Last Clone"
It is indeed restrictive. What about adding "if it's your opponent's turn" to the KFT mechanics?
Edit: why isn't Lifesteal one of the Unidentified options?
A bit tricky to get all 3 in there but here goes.
