I like it. Its a nice deviation on going charge minion without going face. Druid would probably have a field day with this as they could ramp it out early and start controlling the board with it.
Also the reason its not a Beast and its from the Beasts of Northrend encounter is...*drum roll* its a Humanoid from that encounter! The only actual beasts from that encounter are Acidmaw and Dreadscale.
This is good for controlling the board. He kills the biggest minion your opponent has when you drop him, and then they have to use something else to kill him, or he'll kill another minion of your choice. He is always going to get value. In all those situations where you drop Rag and have to hope he hits the right target, this is better. He also instagibs Ancient of War and has 5 health left after.
The Aviana ramp Druid deck might use this. Control Warrior and Control Pally might use it as well. If we see the meta shift toward control, this is a good card.
I'm starting to lose hope with this expansion (it's hard saying that but I keep getting underwhelmed). I have seen almost 0 cards that will help in slowing the meta down, so that most of the cards can even be relevant. This whole Inspire thing is gonna fall flat on its face. And Joust is even worse as a mechanic imo.
The only class that really benefits so far is Druid. A lot of good cards that promote new deck types and complement existing ones. Other than that, I fear that Face Hunter, Tempo Mage and Eboladin are gonna crush most of our new found hopes and dreams.
Very cool concept in that there are now super value minions in the game specifically for control. Im glad blizzard is willing to humor this beyond spells like flamecannon. In theory icehowl should be able to take out 2 big guys before dying. Now all they got to do is release anti aggro versions of these "no face" cards and it will be glorious.
This card makes Magma Rager look like hot shit - if you'll forgive me. You may as well run the 6 of clubs in your deck for all the good this....legendary...thing will do you.
This card is like King Krush, very strong but not very useful ...
Way better than krush. If you ever played with krush in hunter and wanted to do damage using him to go face was always inferior to any other burst you could come up with. Icehowl is +2/2 over crush which is huge as he can kill a giant a tell the tale leaving a 10/2 on board is nothing to scoff at since 10 attack challenges almost anything in the game.
Right, freeze mages do play so many minions..

Mrghl Mrghl!
1 word,Handlock.
Well uhhh....it's good against uhhh..I mean you can silence uhhhh....I got nothin'.
Go druid.
Ramp it out and play it early, clear an enemy minion.
Next turn Ironbeak Owl or Keeper of the Grove it, attack face.
Problem?

Shaman has good new cards aswell

I hate what streamer reviews have done to your minds....
1.This is not trash by any means....
2. Its a really good card in control vs control matchups.
3. I believe this is the card thats going to make a lot of you look really dumb.
This card is like King Krush, very strong but not very useful ...
yep, even after 8 years i still remember skinning him. gotta love their consistency

When Anubarak revealed everybody say not immediate effect on board blah blah
And now, Icehowl evrybody say sucks... what do you want more? Tirion and rag in one card ?
Dr. Tiriragxia
8 Mana 8/8 with Divine shield, deal 8 damage to a random enemy. Battlecry fill the board with Boom Bots. Deathrattle summon Ashbringer.
Play it for removal and silence it next turn to SMORC?
It seems odd.

Dies to BGH, and worthless if silenced, 2/10, not good enough for constructed, but may see play in arena.
King Krush is far more practical....Hell for Neutrals there's going to be North Sea Kraken...That's a common and will likely see more use.
Not every legendary can be amazing. But Icehowl isn't even good. Just a bad card overall.
Edit: I wonder if he had Windfury if that would have made him okay. Honestly, I'm not even sure that would have saved this card.
equip* ashbringer
also sets a heros hp to 15.
