What the hell, of course not. They need something to replace charge due to it being a little busted, in many cases. I’m very happy that they added Rush, it’s a great mechanic, at least better than charge was.
Much like Lifesteal, this should have been a thing for a long time. That's probably the reason why we're getting two keywords too.
rush is barely a new keyword. we've had cards with that ability before, it's just now getting a name.
Actually we haven’t. As far as I know the closest you get is Charged Devilsaur which is a little different due to its inability to attack face being a Battlecry. You might be able to argue Icehowl is closer, but that can never attack face. So we really haven’t seen this exact mechanic before.
I think they are trying to give more options for midrange and control style decks to have board control and not just go face. Aggro decks have ruled the top of ladder for a while now and while aggro decks are important they shouldn't be the end-all-be-all every expansion.
The hell are you talking about? The best decks in the game for well over six months have either been combo or control decks. The difference is that now even those decks don't care about fighting for the board. They just drop their broken garbage on 6 and win on the spot, so even the "control" decks feel aggressive.

Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
Rush will probably be a problem in the arena (pretty sure the HS team will end up banhammering any rush card for that mode) but I doubt it will be a problem in constructed. And no, it's definitely not the end of HS.
Charge is ok in a lot of card games when you can react in opponent turn, in HS is broken, for me, every single card release in this game history with charge should be changed for this new keyword.
It's not the end, it's a balancing act that enables blizzard to print more charge cards without ruining the fun of the game.
That being said though part of the fun of hearthstone is cheating. In fact cheating is the whole point of warlock.
Getting charged devilsaurs to attack face even though their battlecry says "cannot attack heroes". is what i'd call 'cheating' and an important part of the game.
We kinda already had the mechanic with cards like Icehowl, so I think it's another case of refactoring a mechanic into a single keyword for convenience, kind of like how cards with Lifesteal and Posonous existed before we had the official keyword
Icehowl is actually worse than Rush, because you can NEVER attack heroes with Icehowl.
Ah, good point; I should have picked a better example. I seem to recall a few cards that have charge but can't attack heroes the turn they're played; just not remembering them off the top of my head.
Charge was always a stupid ability. They just tried to steal haste from MTG without realizing it works really poorly with HS mechanics.
My guess is they would have just changed the charge ability a couple years ago if it weren't for Ben Brode's rules about not confusing players. The same rules that led them to hold off on rewording Druid of the Claw and give us dumb justifications before realizing they should just do it.
Just for the sake of clarity, Brode didn't make the rules by then, he was basically the hype and announcements guy, he was only recently promoted to director of the design team, if I'm correct. So actually he's probably the main reason for these changes.

What is the point of this? I don’t get it. How did OP come up the conclusion that rush will be end of HS?
Dead but dreaming

I dearly hope it brings the end of cubelock cancer.
Nah, rush should have been introduced in the game a long time ago, echo is the creative mechanic here.
Rush will probably be a problem in the arena (pretty sure the HS team will end up banhammering any rush card for that mode) but I doubt it will be a problem in constructed. And no, it's definitely not the end of HS.
With titles like this you can make lots of money on youtube.
Don't waste your time here.

A mechanic already in the game gets a keyword.

Post like this are so dumb
And what about Echo?
>>C-C-Combo!>Unstable Evolution FRENZY (Tavern Brawl)Is Rush the end of Hearthstone?
That's a silly question.
No.. there is still plenty of money for Blizzard to take from it's customers.
Not sure if hyped yet.
Posts like OP’s have been made since Beta.
