Seeing asCrackle is leaving Standard and that they bothered to make this card, I predict we're getting at least one new relatively cheap Shaman damage spell this set.
If this is the case, aggro shaman might rule the standard meta for pretty long time. So let's hope you re wrong
I wasn't all that excited about this card, and then someone mentioned this combo'ing with Elemental Destruction. For 8 mana, this combo will clear most boards and could easily heal you for 20+ health.
I think there is no way this Card is good enough. Altough some Combos (lightning storm) would heal for a lot, it would require you to spend 8 mana plus overload. At turn 8 it is not even likely that you will kill the entire board of your oponent. When combined with elemental destruction will most likely clear most of the board, but the following turn you will either have 4 or 5 mana at your disposal, which is a real disadvantage.
It has no place in aggro shaman as well, since you want to Close the game very quickly. If you try to save your spells for later, you will not be able to answer threats in the early game.
Even if the game slows down enough to allow you to Play this Card, it might be way more consitent to put reno into your deck.
I like the new Legendary. It might not be groundbreaking powerful, but opens up some new ways of play for a Shaman if you ask me. I hope they add a few Shaman cards which combo well with this.
If you run Lava Shock you can absolutely do turn 8 (or 7 with Thaurisan [or 6 with coin]) total board clear with Elemental Destruction. The next turn you play Lava Shock and you still have room for a 7 drop (or 6/5 respectively). You don't have to sacrifice a turn thanks to Lava Shock
The card itself is nice, but it's not very exciting. Legendaries should add something unique and fun to a class, like the Priest one. This Shaman card is useful, has good stats, and the healing can add up quickly, but it's still boring in a way.
This is definitely unique. As for fun... how "fun" was Bolvar? Or Flame Leviathan? Or Vol'jin? Or even Dr. Boom, the best Legendary ever made?
2- Doesn't need to change your whole deck to fit in. If you have some spells, she will be usefull;
3- I see standard being powered down. Before GvG, control shaman was a thing , and then sticky minions came and shaman didn't keep up. Now sticky minions is going out (hopefully) , its a chance to come back. Before GvG, various decks used farseer only to heal 3, and with this card a Lighting bolt will do that. I see potential.
4- I don't think this card alone will make control shaman viable, but it is a good step and a good hint about how the other shaman cards will be control oriented;
For me, if shaman get other ways (and good ones) to get rid of overload, and this set doesn't get much aggro cards, is enough to see this card played in standard.
Man this card is insaneous... Usualy with agro u play shitty-ass minions to deal damage and then finish off opponent with spells or chargers. Now he can wipe the board (which already strikes right into your soul) and simultaneously heal while doing it ?! Man it's even worse then seeing Reno in play. Fuck it!
LOL People are actually upset with this card? People actually think this is bad and won't see play? MIND = BLOWN
I think I need to stay away from these card discussion threads... they're so painful to read...
I had a similar, but opposite, issue with Aviana when details were first released. Everyone was salivating over the card, declaring it broken to all hell.
As I said at the time, I'd have been an overnight millionaire if short-selling was possible in Hearthstone!
Hallazeal is clearly an excellent card. For years (before Trogg) we all said that Shaman could be great if only it had some healing and some card draw. Blizzard have subsequently tested some healing and some weak card draw but found that only their aggro offering (Tunnel Trogg) has managed to make Shaman competitive. Now they are being a little more bold and are offering us high quality healing on a stick.
Ask yourself two questions regarding your failed Control deck :
Why is healing often not enough to save your game? (Answer : because your opponent still has the board.)
Why is board clear often not enough to save your game? (Answer : because your opponent pushed you in to lethal range before you cleared and you have no decent healing to move you out of top-decking range.)
4/6 body is fine, but that ability sure is situational for midrange. So... if you have just the right sort of removal (damage based spell as opposed to, say, Hex or Rockbiter) as well as this card, you get a little bit of healing? Cool, if you're playing against aggro. But overall, seemingly too situational when you could just have a vanilla 5/6 instead.
I hope I'm proven wrong though. I've always liked non-card disadvantage lifegain in CCGs, so it'd be nice if this actually pans out.

I really like this and it makes a lot of sense to me.
Turn 8 w/elemental destruction or Turn 10+ w/ED and Lavashock. I would pay 8 mana for a 4/1 Reno Jackson that clears your opponents board.
With overload 5.
As a Reno Shaman player, I wanted card draws instead of healing, but I guess it's still a decent 5 drop. It's balanced. It's not OP like MC but also not a garbage.
This is an awesome card for control or dragon shaman. It has a Druid of the Claw stout body for the same mana (worst case). It can be used with direct damage for "tempo" heals, but gets insane with board clear damage. On turn 10, play this card, elemental destruction to clear the board, heal for up to 29, still have your 4/1. Then play your 0 mana Drake, or play a lava shock/doomsayer to keep tempo. Need to face tank 14 to clear a big minion? No problem, just lightning storm and heal for 15-20.
I am one of those pain-loving players who loves playing control shaman in the current meta. Once you get the feel for how the tempo goes against various deck types, it wins its fair share. The problem with shaman mass board clear is the utter nut punch that locked mana crystals cause. I spend a lot of resources clearing your board am an punished that I can't tempo heal or play a good tempo minion. Locked mana crystals creates a divide between clearing, healing and tempo minions. This card bridges that gap nicely.
Tl;dr - IMO, this card has HUGE potential to make control shaman competitive.

lava shock clears overload crystals in the second scenario
If midrange/control shaman becomes viable with this card then mistcaller automatically becomes viable too in my opinion.
Youd run mistcaller in warrior, druid or control paladin for example.

Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
I like it for various reasons:
1- It is a good body in a good cost.;

I can see it with Lightning Storm - but even at that its a Turn 8 play. It's a mid-game soft taunt at least so that might be something.

Shhhhhh....Hallazeal the Ascended is here now.

I like this card a lot. Actually wants me to play Shaman now.
