PREVIOUS to Witchwood, you would receive 50 packs for your $50 preorder.

For Witchwood, you instead got [b]70[/b] packs for your $50 preorder.

For the next expansion, we're getting 50 packs and 1 golden legendary for the $50 preorder.

The mega-bundle or whatever for the next expansion comes with 80 packs and 1 golden legendary for $80.

Either bundle is still $1 a pack plus a random golden legendary.

The question is whether, on top of you $1 a pack pre-order, you'd rather receive a random golden legendary OR 20 extra packs.

So when I first read about the new pre-order packs that Blizzard is releasing for the next Hearthstone expansion, I was a little confused as to why they would go back on giving away 20 bonus packs as a pre-order reward when it was so well received last expansion. However, I pretty quickly realized that to me, personally, I would MUCH rather have a guaranteed golden legendary card with my pre-order packs than 20 extra packs.

That being said, I have most of my Hearthstone collection completed at this point and will probably have most of the new cards pretty soon after the expansion is released. From a collector/completionist point of view, the free golden legendary is obviously of WAY higher value considering how relatively low your chances of pulling a golden legendary from a regular ol' pack are.

But since the legendary is random and there's a fairly high chance the golden legendary you end up with will be pretty god damn useless, I'm wondering if a new player would find the 20 free packs in the pre-order way more valuable.

You're doing it wrong. Yogg is a last-ditch effort hail mary that you should only use when your opponent has a demanding lead and complete control of the board and there's absolutely no other way for you to win or get back into the game. In these situations where I've seen Yogg played, he'll at least stabilize the board and get you back into the game about 66% of the time. Occasionally he'll outright win you the game on the spot, but since his nerf that's not really what he's meant to do.

That being said, if you play a class that can consistently clear the board in literally any other way, it's going to be an infinitely better option for you to use that over Yogg.

Hate to say it, but if you're losing to day 3 netdecks at rank 20, it just means that the stuff you're trying isn't quite working. Try to figure out what cards are and aren't working for you deck in the current state of the meta and make adjustments as you go. A willingness to adjust your deck frequently and straight up throw out certain decks that just aren't working is what makes a good theorycrafter...it's not like pros build a perfectly optimized deck out of thin air 100% of the time.

Just keep adjusting, trying new stuff out, and looking at other people's decks to get an idea of what cards are shaping up to be really good and you WILL be able to build yourself a viable deck without netdecking yourself.

Quick PSA: Don't craft anything for this deck, it's definitely gonna fall out of favor in the meta very quickly. As people have pointed out it runs out of gas way too quick against other control decks. I had some fun with it but it's just not that great. If you get board cleared after you play the DK it's pretty much game over.

I think Control Lock can DEFINITELY be a thing considering how amazing Defile is alone, but I'm predicting at this point that Lord Jaraxxus will end up being a way better finisher in these decks than the DK. I was also super impressed with how much work Tainted Zealot did in this deck...turns out a sticky Spell Damage minion is actually really damn good. Wouldn't surprise me to see this show up in lots of control decks in the future.

Overall, definitely a good experiment that started pulling in the right direction but it definitely needs some refinement. Again, don't waste your dust right now people.

Got 5 DKs in packs which is also pretty insane. Pulled Druid, Rogue, Warrior, Hunter, and Mage DKs in that order!

Also pulled the 2 and 3 drop princes, Sindragosa, Moorabi, Blood-Queen, and Rotface.

Not. Too. Damn. Shabby.

Honestly I'm prolly gonna watch the Angry Chicken guys. They're entertaining af and it's three people cracking packs at once as opposed to just one, which sounds like an insanely hilariously fun time.
