My opponent payed a Fel Reaver card on turn 5. Needless to say I hade 2 freezes in my hand (6 cards lost right there) and a few low mana cards. Turn 8 he only has 2 cards left in his deck lol That card is horrible against mages, and bad in general
Fel Reaver won me at least 3 games on my arena run. Sure, you discard a lot of cards, but the discounted 8/8 really is worth it. I'd say it's an average card, and can only be better with a pretty good buff to push for lethal or some kind of silence.

I think it can be quite aggressive and a game winner if used right. You just have to be careful when playing it vs. classes with very effective removal. As stated above it's definitely a card you want to play when you've already done a fair amount of damage.
I tried to build a deck around that(running cards that are mana efficient but have downsides and need to be silenced) . It's really hard to pull off, a fun deck to play but it wasn't all that good. It just takes too much mana/ work to pull it off. I think the best scenario would be zombie chow, ancient watcher, coin turn 3 wailing soul. But such scenarios are few and far between.
People seem to tend twords two opinions on fel reaver: Brokenly OP, or easy to screw over the person playing it.
As a side note: I hope you emptied his deck before killing the fel reaver the same turn as you took this image.
Yes I dropped Flamestrike which go rid of the rest of his cards and cleared the board. I can see how it can be OP but to lose like 20 cards in 2 turns is very dangerous and you need to be SUPER careful when you play this card because that one card cost them the game
You should only play Fel Reaver in decks that generally end the game with 15 cards left. If your opponent plays FIVE cads and hasn't killed your 8/8 yet, you've probably won the game. The card is insane in aggro decks (probably not Zoo since that draws a lot fo cards and often plays a somewhat longer game).
Most times when this is played the opponent is going to play 2-3 cards on you. Thats 1/3rd of your deck gone and with it all the spells and minions that just got killed for free. You can't play this late game either and if you top deck it youre screwed. Combo with owl is good but yeah 2 cards.
But it DOESN'T MATTER if 1/3 or (even half) of your deck is gone if you weren't going to use those anyways. Your deck can have 0 cards, but it doesn't matter if your opponent is dead. The point I'm trying to make is that there is no late game after you attack with your cheap 8/8 a couple times.
Fel Reaver is actually quite strong. I haven't played an arena game yet where his drawback mattered. Even if you burn 15 cards, it doesn't matter. Either they can kill the reaver and win, or they can't and they die.
Fel Reaver sucks against freeze mage? Woah, i could never imagine that :P
I wonder why Venture Co. has never seen play though, he's clearly smaller in stats but the drawback is way less severe.
Eh? In arena venture co. is a top-tier pick.
In constructed it's because of venture co's anti-tempo effect.
I didn't realize the thread was in the arena section, i thought it was card discussion. Sorry, of course venture co is amazing in arena. Fel Reaver i'd pick over bad to below average cards, never over a BGH or a decent class epic.
It seems like it would be most effective against Warriors, and to a lesser extent, Paladins or Druids.
It's definitely a high-risk card to play against aggro or mill decks, but could dominate against slower decks or in an aggro deck of your own. Think of it almost like a reverse Millhouse Manastorm.

It's probably best to hold it until you push for lethal or can combo it with an Ironbeak Owl.
Feel free to add me if you play on NA! iMPose#1429
fel reaver is only good in constructed it seems... too much of a liability
Whens that elf paladin legendary i see so much?
Wailing Soul becomes useful? Toss in some Ancient Watcher and it gets interesting.

The popularity of Mage, and thus preponderance of freeze effects, makes Fel Reaver an extremely risky draft.
Combo'ing it with silence mitigates the risk somewhat, but comboing in arena draft carries its own risks.
I don't think it's a reliable arena card.

My comments refer mostly to the wild format.

Not sure if Fel Reaver is a wise choice against Paladins. One Humility or "Follow the rules!" and you're screwed.
