I LOVE this brawl, I will admit I was a bit intimidated at first, but now I am currently 9-0, I really like having to plan out your moves, normally in hearthstone you can just play your cards and not worry too much, here you have to look at the layout, pay attention to your minions health, position it so you do maximum damage to your opponents weakest minions, and also count the number of minions so that you get double attacks, so after turn 2 there is a lot of strategy in how to play your cards
for example, in one game I took a 4/1 knight and attacked a 1/5 pawn, I could have destroyed a stronger minion (I think he had a 2/4 rook), but making this play made it so I had the correct number of minions that I could get double attacks, and ultimately remove more minions from his side of the field
my mulligan strategy is simple, get as many pawns as possible
I like it, but I'm not great at it. Started with three losses, now I'm about 50-50 after 10 games. Definitely takes a few games to learn what is the right play and how to plan ahead in this brawl, but after you get the feel for how it works its fun. Very different for regular HS.
You seemed to miss the biggest one. It's not very fun. Sure SOME will enjoy it but I GUARANTEE you that the play rate on this brawl is WAY lower than normal.
I won a game and didn't feel at all compelled to play another game. It felt like playing a game of tic-tac-toe ... either the other opponent knows what they're doing and the results are mostly luck. Or they don't and it feels like I just beat a small child at tic-tac-toe.
Chess is WAY more strategic. Hearthstone is /usually/ WAY more fun. This is literally the worst of all worlds.
I got my Classic pack very easily as I was matched with a player who didn't had any knowledge about how this chess's mechanics work.
When it pulled out its Black Knight, he tried to go for face, and I had a knowledge how actual chess works, and watched videos about the boss itself, and with the help of some White Bishops and White Rooks, and finally, the White Queen, I won the game while my opponent had only 3 Black Pawns, and it was at like 10 HP, and had a nice game.
this brawl does require a lot of thinking, and some luck of course.
to give an example, i just had an amazing match for this simple fact:
i had my queen on board, next to a rook. if my opponent did the obvious choice of playing his queen inbetween my queen and rook so they both take 4 damage, i would kill his queen next turn. if he made the normally incorrect play and deal damage to my queen and a pawn instead, his queen would have lived.
now the luck factor is, at the start i was wondering if he even drew his queen. sometimes you can draw pawns all day.
For those of you who didn't know, the pawn says "en passant" (in passing), not "un poisson" (a fish). En passant is a special move in chess. Let's say white (color added solely for clarity's sake) moves a pawn 2 spaces next to a black pawn. On black's next turn, he can move his pawn diagonally behind the white pawn to capture it, more or less treating the white pawn as if it had only moved a single space.
As I haven't voted before I'm really hoping one is for absolute sh*t.. I hated this boss and I hate this TB. Call it whatever you want but it would be nice to get the pack if not the first time, then maybe after 10 games straight. I could have a damn "nice try" pack of 3 and be happy to never see this again.

The fIrst page was full of accolades, and everything forward has been a pile of salt. Look, fam, I'll say to you whiners what you say to the rest of us who complain about seeing "at the crossroads" for the 5th time this year: "not all the brawls are for everyone". This one isn't terrible at all. I've played numerous games with different outcomes each time. It's only one-sided if you slam down all your pieces in order and don't bother to swap and control the board. Many of us have been asking for a skill brawl for a while, and we've got it. For the rest of you, go play Farmville until next week. Thank you, team 5, for trying something new in Tavern Brawl this week. :)

NA golden heroes: Hunter, and Rogue! Let's try for Paladin next!
I love how some people's reasoning is dismissed as "whining" because they are negative criticisms. It's also fun how players with a higher level of skill (and probably experience with the solo play already) respond with, essentially, "get gud scrublord".
Not everyone is on the same level, and people can't just turn up their limited skill simply because a game calls for it. Also, as far as I know (someone please correct me if I am wrong) TB is an all-out random match, regardless of skill. For that reason I personally don't feel that this Brawl is equal for all. It's also super shitty that Mechazod awarded a deck after one game when it went off pretty much normal mechanics whereas a game like this can take a day or two for some to even figure out what the hell is going on. I consider myself a moderately skilled player, and I barely managed to get my deck before the Brawl closed, even with regular and Heroic experience. It's difficult.
Some people love it and that's okay. Some people loathe it and that's okay too. It's unfair to call people whiny just because they view a thing you like negatively.

You are wrong, there is a MMR for (non-cooperative) brawls, distinct from ladder and casual MMRs. It does carries over from week to week, so your initial matches will be affected by previous, unrelated brawls, but it will probably move quickly if you experience a winning or losing streak in a specific brawl.
Had 5 wins with in this brawl; still better than the Party Portals brawl where I cannot get a single win because of the excessive amount of RNG, but I could not play more than 5 games on its last day.
Top 3 was the most successful brawl in my statistics as I had 25 wins in it, and in the Randomonium brawl I had 24 wins, almost equal to Top 3's winrate.

Rook >>> Bishop

This brawl is just too boring. I've played 3 games and feel like I've had enough of this. Hopefully we don't have to suffer this again.
Better to be the hammer than the anvil or the metal shaped between.
Not fun at all, a bunch of 1 and 3 at the start is basically autowin...
whoever goes first has the higher chance of winning
this brawl sucks... 10 games later, 0 wins. I'm usually pretty decent too. So lame.
