Use your anger as a tool 😂 Think but don’t overthink things. Most of the game is out of your hands now. So make what you think is the best play. And if they out you move to the next one. Take it in strides. If you start a lose streak just call it there. Blizzard is knocking your win percentage down intentionally. But if you’re rolling keep going.
You gotta play a lot. I climbed to legend by playing 122 games with 73 wins and 48 losses. And as you can tell, it took quite some time.
Be patient, don't rush it. I find it hard to get legend every single season, but as i practiced more, i saw myself improving and getting to legend more consistently.
You should try to tech in some cards like acidic swamp ooze if you're facing many hunters and overload shamans. Anticipate their moves, play around certain cards. Try to set up for lethal whenever you can, know when to play certain cards and when not to. There are hundreds of tips that you will learn to pick up as you play more. It's a learning process , so you got to keep a clear mind and not tilt so much.
Just keep playing and you gotta think while you play. I know it sounds stupid, but most people play on auto pilot mode after a few games. Get good with one deck, then just focus on getting good with that deck and don't give up, that's how you get to legend in my opinion.
Oh, and ignore those people who keep saying that being lucky is the only way you can win games. Luck can win you a few games, but it doesn't make you a better player. This game still takes skill and effort, watch how professional streamers play their games, and you'll realize that luck can only take you so far.
Ignore what? People elling the truth? You are either one of the stupid people here who think rng is some kind of skill set. Or just incredibly dishonest. The games rng has slowly been ramped up the last 4 years and hasn’t stopped. At best it’s 15-20 percent skill and I wouldn’t even give it that much credit. So my last 3 games that were loses after I won four in a row were rogue rogue rogue. All in this same bs I sack you or I have the nuts I don’t need a brain cuz the game does all the work for me fashion. The first which started into Galakrond hail mary for two cards which gave him Alex, which gave him Kalegos and a Malygos. And naturally the other free card he got was of course Zilliax. And this was when he still had 21 cards I believe it was left on deck. Which in short won him the game. Or else he was dead the following turn. So that was all skill right? I should’ve just planned ahead for that giant swing and played better right? Bli$$ard has openly said theY have rigged the game. What other proof do you need? They benefit by having a monopoly on the market and the fact other card games suck as well. Most of what was good about this game is long gone. And I’m sure I can speak for others who only play it still for that reason. And they have been playing for so long and took so long to build up their collection and dust that they’re too dedicated at this point as well.
From personal experience: (reached legend with galagrond rogue on my phone) (Excuses for my English, not my first language)
-Might be coincidence but i found the opponents weaker at the end of the month than the beginning of each month (maybe because the best players are higher in legend already?)
-Identify your opponents deck and make a game-plan in the first few turns (like counting the amount of boardwipes or bombs your opponents deck still has in them)
-I played ranked till i had 5 loses total or 3 in a row then i took a break and do something else. This worked for me personally since i get annoyed easily if i get on a lose streak and thus performing worse, every answer your opponents plays seems unfair and you get worked up more and more. The tough part about is that you exit the game with a lose as last game :P

I'd say there is more skill than 15-20%, even with the massive RNG, 0-1 mana cards worth 60 mana etc. bullshit, because for example, I played Mech Paladin (with Kangors) a while back when the RNG was lighter tho, had a cruise over ~80 games with around 80%, until around 200 Legend....and then hit a brick wall..people were playing the SAME decks, but played quite a bit better than people below them, dropped my winrate all the way down to like 55%.
Truth is there is too much bullshit RNG, but I think the skill part is that you now have to know how to get into those situations, or out of them (allowing RNG to happen, not dealing with the consequences).
With the last part, about having been playing for far too long to quit, I 100% agree, I've been playing basically only this game for over 6-7(?) years, far too invested in it to drop it.
I made legend this month in wild with Reno quest mage. (but I already made it in the past).
My advices are:
- Hearthstone is NOT skill based, very few skill is required, (don't believe noob people who think they are smart because they play Hearthstone, smart people are others)
- Reaching Legend, if you are an average player, it is only a matter of time. It is math in fact, when you are playing a deck with more than 50% win rate you will reach it for sure, there is only time in between
- If you are stuck at rank 5. Change deck, play a Tier 1 deck and you will reach Legend in less time
(I am Italian, we are under coronavirus and this month in fact I had plenty of time. Time is the only thing that matter to reach Legend)
well, a 55% winrate-deck is only an average. higher legend people might go from rank 5 to legend with 70~80% winrate where as others have a 45% winrate with them.
So yeah skill and knowledge isn't everything but it sure isn't nothing.
The more games you do, the more your total RNG will go to the middleground of having 50% positive RNG moments and 50% negative RNG moments. You just happen to remember unlucky events better than lucky moments.
Let's be optimistic and say your winrate is about 56%, that means you gain
0.56 - 0.44 = 0.12
stars every game. Therefore, you need to play at least
25 / 0.12 = 208.33
games to reach legend from rank 5 with the current system. If average game lasts about 7 min. You need to play
(209 * 7 ) / 60= 24.383
hours to reach legend excluding queue time etc. So, about 209 games and 24 hours with56% winrate. How many games did you play last month? Did you even come close to this and what was your winrate?

I have to ask, have you ever gotten legend in standard (read: an actually competitive format)? Bc i can see why, as a wild player, you might assert that HS requires "very little skill". Frankly I don't think I believe you've ever gotten legend based on everything you said in this comment, but if you have it would certainly make sense that you got legend in a format where everyone memes and there are very few skilled players relative to the number in standard.
I've been playing basically only this game for over 6-7(?) years, far too invested in it to drop it.
Don't worry, it's because I have a job/gf/friends so no time to spend on other games :D (I did start around 10 new ones now that we're in quarantine tho xD)
Idk, I still like HS even though it has its frustrating moments like my opponent getting exactly Flik from Galakrond to save him from death and give him the game :/ :D :D
Pick a relatively good deck, that has a good matchup spread. And learn it's matchups, mulligans and power plays for the deck. Consistency is all you need to hit legend. Once you understand matchups and understand the playstyle you like to play, you can start teching you deck to beating the pocket meta you are in. I wouldn't recommend playing multiple decks until you feel like you understand the meta and become very proficient at the decks you want to play. The biggest difference between legend and rank 5 players is the number of mistakes they make in a game.
Finally, take your time. You have an entire month to hit legend. Don't play on tilt and take breaks. Good luck.
If you care more about getting to legend than enjoying the game and aren't concerned with making everybody hate you, you can just run face hunter and slam through a ton of games by turn 6 or 7. Personally, I don't like this strategy and have only reached legend in a couple of metas (e.g. Jade Druid, Dragon Priest with Drakonid Operative, and Demonlock with Bloodreaver Gul'dan) because I don't feel like playing aggro for hours.

Get lucky. Pretty much the only thing that decides 85% of games.
Play Galakrond Rogue and watch your opening hand is always 7 mana 6 mana and 5 mana + A combo card while every opponent you face have:
2x Embiggen 2x Breath of Dreams + Frizz Kindleroost on 4 for Druid.
Curvestone for your Rogue opponent + Togwaggle on 6 followed by 0 mana Galakrong followed by 0 mana Kronx followed by 0 mana Alextraza
Whatever shit Hunters have.
This is no longer a game of skill, its a coin toss to see who draws worse than the other.

But yeah, you can reach legend as casual!
-stick to a deck (get ready to get bored to that deck )
-watch streamers playing it
-play a lot
-start the forth/fifth day of the month (the first days of the month players are harder, btw after rank 5 players are harder anyway)
that's what I did to reach legend

Golden heroes: Warlock, Druid, Mage, Hunter

stick to any bullcrap face deck, just by means of your opponent randomly not drawing into answers fast enough is good enough
not much skill needed at all, thats why legend means nothing anyway. just your determination and resilience with and against BS
