This weeks theme comes from Donnerfausuts, whose "Timmy the Impatient" was the winner of our "Alto" competition.
Competition-Specific Restrictions:
There's something we've seen every once in a while in our competitions that's a little odd: Folks will submit a minion that itself casts a spell. Typically these entries don't do extraordinarily well, but there have been a couple of exceptions, and while the concept is odd, it's perhaps not entirely without merit. This week we're going to explore the concept and see what we can do with it.
Your card must, itself, cast a spell. The most obvious existing examples include Yogg-Saron, Hope's End and Servant of Yogg-Saron, but you're free to have your cards cast specific spells rather than random ones.
There must be an easily identifiable reason why your card is casting a spell rather than just having an effect identical to that spell's effect. For example, you're going to have to justify why your weapon has "Battlecry: Cast Innervate" rather than just "Battlecry: Gain 2 Mana Crystals this turn only.". If you can't justify it, it's not going to qualify. For spells that deal damage, the justification is inherent, because the effect is going to benefit from Spell Damage in a way that even an identically worded Battlecry or other minion text would not. For other spells, however, you'll have to get a little more creative. For example, Mad Scientist and Mysterious Challenger arguably fit this week's theme because they cast spells that you have in your deck, requiring and consuming those cards. We will also accept text length concerns as sufficient justification; for example, this card that won one of our competitions last season would have much too lengthy card text if it were to entirely reproduce Shadowform's card text:
Competition Process
Preview Phase (Starts Now! Ends 20:00 UTC 2/February/2017) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic is made available, previewing this week's competition theme. Entry and Early Voting Phase (Starts 20:00 UTC 2/February/2017, Ends 19:00 UTC 6/February/2017) During this Phase, the Submission Topic is made available for your submissions. Voting Phase (Starts 19:00 UTC 6/February/2017, Ends 19:00 UTC 7/February/2017) During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites! Final Phase (Starts 20:00 UTC 7/February/2017, Ends 20:00 UTC 8/February/2017) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Poll Topic, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and poll to decide the winner of the competition!
Discussion Topic Rules
To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your entry? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's entries? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!
All of that said, please refrain from the following:
Posting TONS of Ideas. Discussion topics become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
Advertising Your Entry. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is interesting?". Yes, getting feedback on your entry is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your entry for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.
So, without further ado, have fun and get creating!
It doesn't say the card has to be a minion, right? So would this be valid?
The secret triggers at the start of your turn, and replaces itself with another secret. This would be fun because your opponent would have to re-test all the secrets they tested for. It could also cast itself, which could be pretty nuts.
It is in the same leage as pre nerf Keeper of the Grove, but with offensive stats, because it is a Shock Unit.
@sluglo: You better not run this with Humility.
Interesting card! Seems pretty well balanced, a fun RNG card but the effects aren't necessarily game flipping. If you want, you could make it a 3/3, but it doesn't really matter. As for my card, yeah, it's meant to be run in classic buff decks, where you probably wouldn't use Humility.
I'm praying another meme card makes it to the finals and wins so people who take a fake card design competition seriously get upset. So many people getting worked up over Murladin winning last competition, people are allowed to vote for what they like? Not what you think should win

Not sure I can justify the Abandoned Maroon having to cast Flare instead of just writing the card text (it was an old idea of mine I wanted to revisit)? Other than that, I'm very much in doubt about the Sin'dorei Spellthief. It has a bit of Barned complex, but I thought that an average of 5 mana for a spell was an okay place to start?

I just made Rhonfin so if anyone else makes Rhonfin, they get called out for copying. We should all make the meme cards and put them in discussion so people can't submit them.

First, is Jolt allowed by the rules? It's a recursive spell that utilizes RNG by re-casting itself. I think people might get it better if I worded it as "50% chance to recast this spell on the same target." If it isn't clear, this spell has a 50% chance to re-cast itself. Then the re-cast spell has a 50% chance to re-cast itself. And so on. Note that the average damage of Jolt is 2. For the second one, I made it happen at the end of the turn so that you wouldn't get an infinite loop if you cast two of these in a turn.
This is the Discussion Topic. The Submission Topic is here.

You can find me here! Good luck everyone!
I've been working on some fun Legendaries, turns out there's one that actually fits right into this theme! Feedback?
The rules don't explicitly say that your card has to be a minion. Can we create a Weapon or a Spell that casts another spell?

Explosive Shot => Meteor
Power Word: Tentacles => Spikeridged Steed
That is intentional. Yes, you may. =)

Would this work this weeks competition?
Flavor text: The truth is that killing innocent murlocs is always wrong, but accidents do happen...often.

So we can technically create a minion that casts a spell that makes a weapon...
Wished to be pink.
Then did.
Then fired myself.
Then did again.
Still working on the art/name but you're sacrificing consistency of a specific Secret in your deck for flexibility of the given situation.
Vote for me guys, this sh*t's totally gonna win.

Heres my meme card, does it have a shot? /s

So I think this effect is really cool but I'm not sure about the stats/cost. Thoughts?
