So I've been playing a bit of Odd Mech and some of the Odd Liam deck as well, and I must say that both are performing extremely well right now. and more importantly are a lot of fun to play. I was a little bored of odd paladin as my go to ladder deck, but now it's got these two variants that shake things up a lot. (I mean I was playing this mech deck back in BD, but it didn't fair so well then)
I especially like my Odd Mech deck because I don't really think it's expected now (people will mulligan for regular odd paladin or even or OTK, not mechs) and it can counter a bunch of thing by playing in different ways.
For instance you can begin paying like regular odd paladin, if you face a zoo deck for example (yeah, heal zoo is still out there) you just start to stack a mech vertically. they usually cannot deal with it and you win.
It just seems to be quite a versatile deck that is maybe a little overlooked at the moment. It's certainly a contender though, you just have to adjust your playstyle to counter whatever you're facing, and this deck is like a swiss army knife in terms of versatility.
It has all the benefits of a regular off rogue deck being able to fill the board up fast, but the mech side of things allow it to do much more than that. If you can build yourself a nice mech or two and pop and egg, then if they get wiped out you cast kangor's and get them all back again. it's a nice tempo play that can help tilt the scales in your direction.
I'm sure there are a lot of things I have not even thought of yet. I really do urge more people to try playing this kind of deck. Give mechs a chance.
also void rippers are so off meta right now, no one is expecting them. they are ideal in this deck though. you can flip the stonehills (any of elemental taunts with high health as a pick up front them if fordring or tarim aren't an option as they're usually auto picks in any deck that doesn't have them in already) and then use the ripper to break your egg and flip those taunts to damage mode... furthermore for a turn 6 play you can ripper and then stonehill again to get yourself a taunt with health back up again, protecting your high damage dealers just flipped from the ripper.
ripper flipper, never underestimate it. ha ha.
I feel mech odd paladin is like a paladin deck for rogue mains, ha ha.
The liam deck is closer to a regular odd paladin (post level up nerf) but it uses cauldron as a way to punish a board clear and presents the dilemma of either gaining board control and giving us 4 or 5 shaman spells, or leaving our stuff up till the cauldron can be dealt with.
The deck contains a lot of 1 drops also, so if you can get off Liam early enough it can really transform the battle. I got a lore walker cho last night and used it against a hunter. he just kept giving me copies of his spells. I lost that one in the end (although I'm sure I had won it, looking at the replay I definitely lost. I think I could of won this though if I'd not misplayed, this is why I'm looking for advice based on my replays)
Anyway I'm just here to talk shop with some people playing these decks and maybe share decklists and stuff.
I also have the replays of the games I just mentioned which I'd appreciate any critique on. I like to watch my replays to look for misplays, and I'm always spotting loads of them. I think sometimes having more experienced players watch your replays and give you feedback can help to becoming a better player overall, so it would be greatly appreciated.
