So I've been pondering the new Even/Odd deck mechanics. There is a currently very strong archetype in Wild format, as I'm sure you are all aware: Dude Paladin. So I started thinking: a cheaper or upgraded hero power would be an even bigger boon to this archetype.
However, I'll lay out why I think neither Even nor Odd would work for any version of this archetype by detailing the relevant cards.
So, looking at those lists, I think the conundrum probably becomes clear: Making an odd deck would give you LOADS of dudes, but far fewer ways to buff and protect them (and also no way to clear the board); Making an even deck gives ways to buff and protect dudes, but no good way to get them on the board in the first place.
What do you guys think? Am I wrong? Did I miss something?
I like they don't push the archetype too much, we have to think for deckbuilding what is a lot better than a broken prebuild 30 perfect cards for any odd/even strategy.
I can be wrong but I think shaman will use the even and mage the odd, like keleseth rogue or mech mage, any class can use but some classes are better than others for that.
No way druid to use odd, many, many crucial cards for the class are even.
I don't see odd/even to be a "thing" in any paladin-deck. Baku is too bad for aggro and without Equality/Tirion/Tarim/Call to Arms/Consecration I don't see any control paladin survive against aggro.
Genn may work in dude-paladin but its powerlevel will not surpass the current dude-paladin-list because you can not play aggrodin without divine favor.
Let's see what the rest of set will be and what cool cards paladin can use but atm I am pessimistic because without Beardo/Nzoth I am afraid that dudepaladin will be the only viable paladeck for a long time.. atleast in standard.
The benefit of these cards is that they will become exponentially stronger (in Wild at least) as new cards are being released.
Compare them to the Princes. Keleseth was really strong on release because of synergies with Patches and other cards, but after those got nerfed he mostly disappeared. Valanar was played in a few decks, but was dropped after more powerful 4-drops were printed. Taldaram was considered the worst of the princes, but then Cubelock came around and found very effectivee use in him.
What I'm trying to say is that both cards offer at least some benefit if you build a deck around them and I'M pretty sure Blizzard didn't print them to become meta dominators but rather to give us something many people had requested before: interesting deck-building challenges that encourage you to use previously unplayable cards.
So maybe Genn-Dude-Paladin will never be top-tier, but it will be experimented with and probably at least end up playable.

Even cards: Drygulch Jailor, Equality, Shielded Minibot, Knife Juggler, Dire Wolf Alpha, Annoy-o-Tron, Call to Arms, Lightfused Stegodon, Sunkeeper Tarim, Crystal Lion, and even Tirion Fordring.
Odd cards: Lost in the Jungle, Righteous Protector, Rallying Blade, Steward of Darkshire, Muster for Battle, Unidentified Maul, Warhorse Trainer, Level Up!, Stand Against Darkness, Quartermaster, Vinecleaver

better to wait a new cards reveal, for the moment isnt worth sacrifice that cards for a hero power upgrade.
Dr7 its back!
I think that may have been done on purpose so that this already powerful deck doesn't get another buff lol.
Probably towards the end of the year we will have enough strong options in both odd and even slots so that building a deck like this could make sense
Standard only player here.

I mean, Baku and Genn don't assist or join existing archetypes, they create their own archetypes
Don't mind me just passing by
