Dunno, I play Warrior Control (which is obnoxious as hell too, I know) so I don't have a single problem with Hunters, but I get some people can be annoyed as (edit). This kind of hunter deck is quite cheap to build compared to other GOOD decks from other classes, and in that terms of spent money/dust you just won't have a nice time dealing with hunters, because you need specific decks to counter it, and you HAVE to play that decks in order to have a chance against them (and they are not so cheap). For example, I used to enjoy playing Warlock and Shaman Control, and I had to stop playing both because I didn't have a fucking chance against this overpopulation of hunters (and I tried making a lot of tweaks before changing to Druid/Warrior). Now I just poop all over Hunters, but that's because I play THAT COUNTER DECKS, and if I try with any other deck that I could enjoy/like more than this Druid or Warrior decks, I know the moment I face a Hunter it's gonna be (edited) nuts.
So yeh, I don't find that so fair, but maybe it's just me. As other people, I'm not a pr0 player (usually around rank 8-5), but I know the mechanics and I find this as obnoxious as Mages used to be (when you HAD to play that Paladin/Druid decks with (edit)loads of healing or GG).
As said, right now I don't have a (edit) problem with Hunters cause I destroy them 90% games, so this is not a "real whining", if I could cry for anything it would be for the fact that I can't play my favourite decks anymore because there's a class that forces you to play in another specific way, while against any other class (no Hunter) the situation would be at least fair (~50% W/L ratio).
the only class i think ahs huge dificulties against hunters is shaman.
why? no healing and our hero ability has a 50% of making 0/2 useless (against agro hunter) that help the realease the hounds ; and we normally play for board control (hunter does not give a shit about it).
I found that from ranks 12-9 in Eu most were hunters (30/34 games) so i adapt the deck with cards that can help against them :sienjin shiel master; earth elemental.
once your deck is optimal vs rush hunters it is by far the easiest match. after rank 9 to rank 6 saw no hunters rush (some midranges)
Unleash the Hounds is grossly overpowered. Its previous price of 4 mana was actually correct. The problem is that the entire hunter class is underpowered with lots of cards that rely on flimsy synergy or that are just generally too weak. UtH made the class playable even at high levels. Nerfing UtH (which imo should be done) would also require buffing or changing a lot of other Hunter cards to make the class decent/good. This is a pretty big task that could eff up a lot of things.
It's no more OP than Paladin having the ability to reduce all minion's health to 1, then sweep them away with consecration, or Priest having the ability to double minion's health, then match their attack to it - along with stealing cards from the opponent's deck, or Mage having the ability to morph your biggest threats, sweep the board clear at round 7, and finish you off with Pyro round 10, after beating you down with fireballs that ignore taunts .... ALL of them have OP tricks. UTH is tame compared to some of them.
I think people just pick out the Hunter to moan about because there seems to be a lot of them around atm. If they faced mostly Paladin they'd be on here moaning that equality/humility/consecration was OP. You won't see them moan about the OP 'tricks' they use to win either ;)
OP: If Hunter is so overpowered, I suggest trying it yourself, and come back and show us how far you climb.
It's overpowered from a card budget standpoint. It does way more than its cost would indicate. The best 2 mana cost minions end up being around 5 total stats (2/3 or 3/2, some with additional fun), against 3 minions UtH gives you 6 total stats for the cost, with the possibility of scaling up to 14 total with the one lone card. And that's not even counting the value you can get when comboing it with Starving Buzzard, Kill Command, Timber Wolf etc. In short: it's overpowered. But as I said, most other hunter cards are underpowered. I would much prefer a more balanced class and a 4 cost UtH.
Equality is better balanced for its cost because of the enormous drawback of playing it when you have minions out. Paladins also entirely lack direct non-damage based removal, hence there's an actual need for the spell.
well, I dont really think many of the hunter cards are actually underpowered, savannah is one of the greatest value cards in the game, animal companion is pretty beastly, houndmaster is essentially 6/5 + taunt for 4 mana... the problem is the common beasts are below average compared to their counterparts, croc vs amani/sunfury, raptor vs faerie/juggler, silverback is in a junk category of its own, snapjaw is great houndmaster target, but pretty weak otherwise...
I think their intentions were good to give them more reliable aoe in the new UTH, but lets face it, thats the single most broken card in the game, its pretty good value even when used with only two minions, has insane combos and can be used as a hero nuke instead of an aoe, too... I still think making explosive trap being triggered by any attack, like freezing trap, and removing the two hero damage it does would be better way to adress the aoe issues, then make UTH into summon 2 doggies, regardless of board size, it would still be draw, it would still be combo for hyena, it would still have great value with timber...

Even at 4 mana pretty much 99.9999% of all decks had it in and it was still very very very powerful at that cost. at least that cost allowed you a tiny little room to actually get things done before the dogs comes and literally rapes you. It is so bad right now that i just quit instantly when facing a hunter since i have a better chance getting 2 wins in the time it takes to wait for the hunter cheese dogs to show up
It isn't Unleash that's overpowered but the card draw mechanic with Starving Buzzard. My suggesting for fixing this is to change the text on Buzzard to read "Whenever you PLAY a beast …". I think this would fix it without making it too weak.
The fact that buzzard and dogs allows you to draw a shitload of cards is the game breaking mechanic right now in regards to hunters It is the reason you can only have a maximum of 2 minion on the board period vs hunters anything more and you will get raped, and even 2 is sometimes too many minions vs hunters ideal is 1 strong minion and have him eat his 2 deadly shoots and than go with 1 strong the whole time and NEVER play 2 minions on the board. All this due to the fact that you cant allow him to pull 5-6 cards for 4 mana. Make it so dogs dont pull cards and hunters will still be very very strong but beatable at least.
Seen a turn 4 rag but that clown of a druid still lost, and that is ONCE in 6 months of Hearthstone, dog cheese well that is every fking hunter every fucking game every fucking day. thats why you dont see much bitching about turn 3 rag it happens like 2 times a year whilst the fking dog cheese happens in every fucking game vs a huntard
Ye seriously, i love match when i lose with hunter who didnt put a single card on a table almost whole game.... coin + ablity (-2), ablity(-2), ablity(-2) +tracing, ablity(-2) + explosive trap(-2), ablity(-2) + weapon + damage(-3), explosive trap(-2) + kill comand(-3), and final owl on taunt + weapon (-3)+ ablity (-2) + kill comand (-5). Round 7 GG... counter it, and tell me this is stil a card game.
This is why i just quit instantly vs hunters it is a class that is broken right now.
hunters are easy to beat....make one of these deck play it see the weakness and exploit it. And since you all wanted to say unlikely situation ok turn 1 druid of the claw turn 2 cairne. Fact is that a Druid can jump the power curve in two different ways and gain a massive advantage every single game and you want to focus on a class that has no ability to adapt or play differently...Your ability to judge balance is nothing more then crying about losing.
And we all know the likely case of turn 3 rag etc excuses is depending on all cards coming into your hand perfectly which if you know simple probability means you will see it roughly 1 out of 100k, compare that to the buzzard dog leeroy cheese that happens every game yeah thought so.
I play trap aggro tech hunter a lot.. currently rank 4.. being playing since game was released live
You know what can really fuck the class up? taunts or more importantly big creatures followed by sunfury/Argus.. that's why beating druids and warlocks with giants... Paladin control is also very hard... Probably the people complaining about UTH are the kind of guys who flood the board with murlocs.. with zero taunts up and then get smashed by hounds.. steady shot and weapon. Maybe think for 1 minute... oh i am facing hunter better not over extend myself..
And generally most players i have met from ranks 7-4 so far aren't stupid enough to flood the board.. so i wonder were all these complainers are? In fact the only way you get much use out of hounds is when you have leeroy in hand and the opponent is in kill range.. because no sane person is flooding the board unless they have taunts up vs a hunter
you just hunters mark the big fatty 9-9 taunter and it is gone,, that doesnt work you still have a very good chance in deadly just removing it straight out for just 3 mana since they are forced to keep the minion count low due to the dog cheese. very likely 33% chance at worst, and in many cased you face 2 taunters and argus or a protector between them as only minions so you have infacto 66% chance of something great happening.

Just curious, what class are you using? I got raped by hunters playing shaman so I have switched over to druid and have found decent success against Hunters for now. I have about 75% win rate vs Hunter matchup. Druid has many big taunters and taunt giving spells to prevent those charge face attacks from Arcane Golem and Wolf Rider. I also run 2 Swamp Ooze to destroy those brainless hunter who only hit face with weapon and spam hero power. Druid hero power is also good to test trap as explosive trap ans misdirection trigger when you hit their face, saving your minions attack attempt.
Aggro paladins are a bitch to beat as a Hunter... just sayin'
Nozdormu wins you every game where you opponent has to go to the bathroom on turn 9.
qfe
All the complaining is just confirmation bias. "I lost to it, it must be broken."
NO.
Yeh, Mage in Arena is pretty ridic, lol. Nobody with 2 brain cells to rub together is gonna fight you on that, haha.

zoo? handlock? tempo rogue? shaman? some versions of control warrior (even if warrior can win against hunter without a taunt easily)
you are mistaken if you think apart from druids not many people run taunts
If you want to have revenge vs hunters play control warrior, you will win the majority of the games (edit: vs hunters) provided you play it right.
warrior doesn't need taunts with armor smith and shield block
Sometimes you have to risk it for the biscuit
there is truth to this...However I have found relying on something solely with no back up is a dangerous gamble.
