While I don't agree with this nerf.... According to Warcraft lore that makes sense. Voidwalkers and Voidlords aren't exactly demons - while Warlocks can use a Voidwalker pet, it's a lesser void lord.
I would love to see Voidlord changed to use the “Spawn on Damage” mechanic such as with Imp Gang Boss, would make the card more interesting from my point of view.
You can silence it or hard remove it in order to get no more taunts, but you could also get a ton of void walkers from it in order to weaken Gul’Dan and to fill the board to avoid the opponent to play more stuff at least for a turn.
MIsplaced blame here. Voidlord is a good and balanced card... on turn 9. On turn 5 or 6 and imidiately copying him... that’s the problem. General consensus is the problem is somewhere between the lackey and the sac and heal card.
Voidlord in general is fine. played on turn 9 it's a fair card. compare to Obsidian Statue. problem with both is that they are OP if cheated into play ahead of the mana curve. so nerfing voidlord would not fix any problems - nerfing mana cheat mechanics would!
In my opinion warlock is and has been fine through all of Kobolds and Catacombs. It can be frustrating to lose to, but I have a positive win rate against it with budget hunter. There will always be a dominant deck every meta. Now if that same warlock deck is being oppressive in The Witchwood meta, then we have a problem.
I think Dark Pact is the problem, because that is the card that prevents interaction. Saving a silence for Rin? Just dark pact it. Saving a silence for cube? Just dark pact it.
I can run silences all I want, that's not the answer against a good player. Non interactive nonsense needs to go.
The meta has been the meta of who can cheat the mana curve the best, which makes sense since the new mechanic was Recruit.
That said what they need to do is nerf Lackey (personally I would make it a 3/4 recruit a demon of cost 5 or under). The weapon is good, but you can already destroy it before it gets values which is devastating to the warlock.

Its not even that big of a deal. If you're coming across a lot of Warlocks then just run counters to them. Weapon destruction, Silence, easy.

just make voidlord legendary and then you have nerf - only 1 in deck, easy

Lackey is the only problem. Specifically how easy it is to kill your own lackey.
Skull you can tech against.
Lackey should just say "if your opponent kills this minion, summon a random demon from your deck."
That's it. Problem solved. The mechanic is already in the game, they just fucked up by not applying it here.
