Hi everybody and thanks for tuning in!
I just reached rank five today (Oct. 13) with Elemental Shaman starting at rank 15, with a win/loss of 30/4. Because of this unholy score, I had to share the deck with you.
Between rank 10 and 5, I had zero losses
To play this deck, you need to optimize your plays. If the opponent has no minions on board on his turn 2, consider using your hero power to discount Thing from Below over playing Jade Claws, which will slow down your next turn and keep your Thing from Below at 6 mana.
Your Ancestral Spirits preferably go on Earth Elemental, and this works really nicely. Beware of silences.
When playing this deck, you will notice that you're unconsciously swarming the board with big stuff, keeping your opponents board clear. This deck does this naturally, and that's where the power is.
I will gladly write a large guide if people want one!
Deck Showcase by: KiwiinBacon.
He didn't have the second Earth Elemental in his collection, which he substited by a devolve in this showcase. Thanks for the video!
Other showcase (full deck) by KadakHS:
How about posting stats from decktracker if you advertise your deck by stating WR in deck name? If WR is all that matters for people to want to play this deck then you should have included some proof.
Deck could work with perfect curve. But if you dont get it then it lacks volcano and devolves to justify the greed and turns youre overloaded.
I play on my phone, and I don't use decktrackers. I advertised the WR in percentages because that's the streak I got with it. The screenshot of reaching rank 5 with it on a winstreak being the only proof I'm able to provide.
To the people having trouble winning with this, no it is not you. This deck is kind of poorly constructed for the meta. I think the author hit a pocket where he was just lucky and did not notice it. It happens to the best of us; it is not his fault for not recognizing his matches. It is almost where it needs to be though. The key cards you need in the meta are 2x Devolve (counters spreading plague, taunts and Kel buff decks), 1x Bloodlust (to rush down a deck like priest who can keep your big minions of the board), and early game removal options.
Earth Elemental+Ancestral Spirit is just too slow (games are generally decided before turn 7), and nearly every deck in the meta runs at least one silence/transform removal card. Another thing to look at is Kalimos, Primal Lord which is also too slow for the current meta the way the deck is built around it. You are either dead before it comes down, or you lost because you didn't take enough tempo before playing it. I think it can work if some of the other problems can be figured out. You may even want to swap out Fire Elemental for something like Volcano to help the recover mid game since I really don't see this coming back against a tempo Rogue or Zoolock that has a perfect curve leading into turn 5.
I see from the comments that many people lose more games than they win. Quite possibly there was indeed luck involved in the winstreak. Haven't had time to play, but tomorrow I will try 15 more games and see if my score held up.
Thanks for your feedback, it's actually very valuable.
Saying Kalomos, Primal Lord is too slow does make me question your playstyle though. It is so valuable and such a swingcard. Is every card above 7 mana too slow in your opinion?
Devolve isn't a bad idea though. If you're against the idea of using Earth Elementals, you can try Devolves instead.
Kalimos, Primal Lord is only too slow in this deck because the board contest before turn 8 really isn't there when they can clear your Earth Elemental on turn 5 without destroying their board to do so. I ran Kalimos, Primal Lord in a deck I made to target the current aggro decks and it performed perfectly fine, but it was built to be a lot more control oriented. Your deck is a lot more minion oriented so if you can't limit their board with your minions before turn 6 or 7, they will just cruise to the win.
For reference, this is the list I made to test out when tempo rogue became a thing because on paper, Shaman is the perfect counter. It climbed well during the rat race, but Jade Druid was just the better choice to play fitting this role.
Why does no one use the Snowfury Giant in an elemental/overload deck?
In standard right now using Snowfury Giant effectively is pretty hard to do unless you make a deck specifically to overload on nearly every turn. I have tried it and when it works perfectly it is hard to lose. Once you deviate from perfect even a little bit it starts falling apart fast. The other option is to cut the Jades from the deck I listed for 2x Stormforged Axe, 2x Snowfury Giant, 2x Lightning Bolt, and 1x Tar Creeper, but that hurts your early game board presence in a deck that already has a relatively weak start.
In wild you can make Snowfury Giant better since you have Tunnel Trogg and Totem Golem for what I think is still the best opener in Hearthstone. If you haven't dusted your wild cards, you should be able to piece together a good list around Snowfury Giant without much trouble.
I'm currently working on aSnowfury Giant Elemental/Windfury deck, which uses different removals and defensive tools with Overload to reduce their cost as fast as possible. Will send you when ready! It'll be interesting to see what you think.
I do think the deck has a good potential but not so easy to play. I lost my 3 first games but still think I could have won with different decisions.
Replacements for Thalnos? I assume just a loot hoarder will do?
Try a Devolve instead :)
im missing Kalimos, Primal Lord and 1 Earth Elemental,
suggest something to replace from :
Blaze caller
baron gadon
stone shaper
al'akir the windlord
stone sentinel
Is Kalimos, Primal Lord essential? :D
I will give a try too :)
I am giving this a try I really like the idea, looks like it can punish a lot of different decks, will get 100% owned by Jade Druid though lol
Update: I gave it a try, I'm 3-6 maybe I'm unlucky or just not playing it well but its tough with this meta
Or you've only played 9 games with the deck. Can't expect to take a new deck and pilot it to victory with ease. Learn the deck, the matctups etc.
Let me hear how it went!
I'm only missing 1 Earth Elemental. Is there a good replacement?
Try White Eyes if you have him, or a second Blazecaller?
This deck absolutely takes some getting used to, I have no doubt. I even suggest a couple of game in casual if you're not on a ranked floor.
Maybe it was bad luck indeed, let me hear how it turned out!
