Introduction:

Hello everyone I am OnixHasTaser, a hearthstone player that pretty much only plays paladin decks of my own creation. Through several of hundreds of games of experimentation after the release of WOTOG, I have created this deck.

I introduce to you my Druenloth (Dragon Joust Reno Control N’Zoth) Paladin deck.

Performance:

(Please note that one of the main win conditions for this deck is to out value the opponent. As a result it is unknown at the moment if this deck still works as well after the release of Mean Streets In Gadgetzan).

I have used this variation of the deck competitively for around the past three months, and my overall performance with it is listed below. The links at the bottom of each month bring you to deck lists that contain links to Hsreplay.net. Each link that goes to Hsreplay.net shows you a recreation of a game I played against an opponent. This allows you to see all of my gameplay for that particular month.

Playstyle:

This deck obtains victory by overwhelming the opponent with minions. This is achieved by either out valuing the opponent or attacking the opponent with minions spawned by N'Zoth, the Corruptor.

The reason why this deck can win by out valuing the opponent is because almost every card in the deck is a minion with a high mana cost. This essentially allows you to provide a decent amount of board presence almost indefinitely, thus giving you the advantage in a top deck war.

In order for this deck to survive against and out value both control and fast decks, this deck utilizes minions that serve multiple purposes.

These multipurpose minions enable this deck to change the way it is played depending on the opponent you face. For example, Wolfrider and Spellbreaker can be used to mitigate damage to the face from a tempo mage, but these two cards can also be used as tools for minion removal against a control warrior.

Deck Structure:

Since this deck doesn’t need card draw to sustain itself, I have chosen to use Deathwing, Dragonlord, and Ysera to replace the slots available for card draw. There are three reasons why I selected to use these two cards in particular. The first reason is because the dragon tag gives Reno Jackson decks more consistency without limiting much deck space. The second reason is because it forces hard removal from control decks, therefore enabling you to apply pressure with your other minions. The third reason is because these two minions help you win games against fast decks more quickly.

I have added Armored Warhorse and Tuskarr Jouster to the deck because they further reduce the inconsistencies of a Reno Jackson deck. Since there are 16 minions in the deck with a 5+ mana, these cards rarely fail (except against druids), and as a result are reliable enough to be used in the deck.

With the inclusion of three deathrattle taunt minions, N'Zoth, the Corruptor is now able to be played as a board clear. This allows N'Zoth, the Corruptor to replace the deck slot for Equality, a card I chose not to include in the deck as it provides potential anti synergy.

Weaknesses:

Since this deck has no means of drawing cards from the deck, it takes a long time to draw N'Zoth, the Corruptor and all of your deathrattle minions. This can potentially be an issue as N'Zoth, the Corruptor is required to win games against some match ups. This weakness gives the deck a large disadvantage against Renolock in particular, as losing board control past turn 9 usually ends up costing you the game.

Another weakness this deck has is its reactive early game cards. When against slower decks, nearly half of the 3 and 4 drops in this deck are either unusable on an empty board, or are better off saved to protect you later in the game. This isn’t an issue against control decks, as this deck has an abundance of cards that either heal you or negate tempo. When against combo decks on the other hand, this can be an issue. This weakness gives the deck a huge disadvantage against Malygos druid in particular, as it is nearly impossible to finish off the druid before he/she deals over 20 damage to you in a single turn.

Comments On Specific Cards:

Faceless Manipulator
When against fast decks, this card can be combined with a taunt minion to help protect you, or with Ragnaros, Lightlord to swing the game in your favor. When against slow decks, you can copy a high mana cost minion with Faceless Manipulator to help you out value the opponent. My favorite target is Cairne Bloodhoof, as N'Zoth, the Corruptor can Resurrect the copy later in the game.

There can also be occasions where this card can be combined with Armored Warhorse or Wolfrider as a potential win condition.

Ivory Knight
Holy Wrath, Redemption, and Buff cards are more effective in this deck than with other paladin decks. That is because of this deck’s various high mana minions, various deathrattle minions, and the inclusion of the following cards: Faceless Manipulator, Wolfrider, and Armored Warhorse.

Reno Jackson
Not only does this card resurrect you to full health, but it also essentially makes your character immune to weapon damage that turn as well.

Baron Geddon
I would recommend keeping this card in your hand if you have other late drops to play. This is because Baron Geddon combos well with other cards in the deck as a form of hard removal

Ragnaros, Lightlord
One important thing to note about this card, is that it can heal a minion brought to zero health by Baron Geddon

Ysera
Ysera and some of the dream cards that come from it, can combo very nicely with some cards in this deck. First of all, Nightmare can be used with Armored Warhorse or Wolfrider as a form of minion removal. Secondly, Emerald Drake has a dragon tag, so it can trigger some minion effects and can be summoned by Deathwing, Dragonlord. Thirdly, Ysera can be summoned by Deathwing, Dragonlord, thus making this card much harder to deal with. And finally, Dream can be very devastating to the opponent if used on N'Zoth, the Corruptor.
