Update 05/16/2014: Updating this list to the one I am currently using to grind to legend in Season 2!
The changes I made are meta changes, Bloodlust became a liability with the new meta and usually a dead card in your hand, so I took it out and put an Al'Akir instead because its a more realiable "finisher" on this specific scenario! I also had to remove The Black Knight to add an Acidic Swamp Ooze because I did not want to remove any other card, also TBK became a weaker card in this meta game compared to the old season one's meta!

Hello everybody, this is a guide to my newest Legendary deck: The Shaman Midrange.
When I first made this deck, 2 days ago, I thought to make a deck fit for the meta, because 2 days ago there were no hunters rampaging the high ranks, in fact I did not think about hunters at all, my main focus was beating Zoo and Warrior, therefore the option to play Shaman seemed obvious for me
Thinking on this, I started developing a deck to actually beat the decks to beat Zoo, such as Warrior Control, Druids new variants (one of them, I proudly introduced to the meta myself: the ramp), and other decks.
So shaman was not that bad against those decks, but there was something lacking, I instantly took my old list from 3 months ago, and fixed it a bit.
Cards that did not make the cut and why:
Leeroy Jenkins: This card has the same function of Windfury: its a combo card. I did not like any combo cards in my deck because I thought of them to be clunky and not to work 100% of the times, I did not want that.
Wild Pyromancer: same thing about Leeroy and windfury, they are combo cards, I wasnt expecting to need combos to win vs Zoo, because shaman without the combos themselves is already strong enough to hold its ground against Zoo.
Al'Akir the Windlord: I never liked this card, 8 manas for a Force of Nature isnt something I would like to have in my deck, therefore I discarded this option without even thinking on it.
Doomhammer: well....
The funny factor, is that this deck is actually strong against this new variant of Hunter Control that is hovering the meta game.
Another tip, that I also did it myself, is as soon as you hit the Rank 3-2 range, switch The Black Knight for Cairne Bloodhoof because, unfortunently, from ranks 3 to 1, there is absolutely NO Druid or Zoo.
Basically? This is a standard Midrange Shaman, made to not play any combos so you can always trust on it, and have some small techs such as TBK, that in matches like Zoo are just a 3rd Fire Elemental(it will always kill something, sometimes even a shielded Doomguard which is delicious), and in matches like Druid theyre all-star.
Oh, and talking about this new "horrible" hunter meta, have you ever killed a Hunter as a shaman by FATIGUE? I have :D:D More than once actually :D
If you like it, dont forget to upvote it so more people see and the meta becomes more diverse!
PS: Oh, and if these words were not enough, here is a gameplay sample I took from my twitch while I was ranking up:

Some tips:
Against control or midranges (that are not shaman) never EVER put your fire elementals close to either Flametongue or Defender of Argus, THEY ARE NOT FRIENDS!! they hate each other, unless you are going for the kill, doing that usually will make their, in the other hand useless, Big Game Hunter useful.
Against Hunters always think that your totems are situational, dont spam them. only cast them if you need that totem, because as many might have said before me: they buff UTH. Ofc you can start spamming those after your oponent casted both his UTHs, but before? dont.
Be calm, watch for your trades and your resources, dont feel afraid to Bloodlust down a threat your oponent has if you have no other answer to it, dont let that Ragnaros or that Ysera take control of the table just because you dont have Hex, and be careful whenever youre using your spells.
This is not a X-tard deck, so it will require your skill to be played, I think this is the biggest reason Shaman is one of the least played classes in the ladder and hunter is the most one.
Your deck has been featured in the Shaman Information Hub under "Decklists". Congrats!
Having a hard time with this deck. More often than not I am stuck with a handful of useless spells. No draw, no taunt, just a whole lot of overload spells.
I'm 1-6 so far, losing ranks fast. Losing to everything, if not for misplays, but for bad luck of having a shit draw in 4 games in a row.
I don't recommend playing this deck in the teens as it has quite a lot of trouble with the more "idiotic" zerg decks that barely have 50/50 win rates (which you see a lot of in the mid-to-high teens). The same can be said with most mid-range decks, to be honest. Try putting in 2x Sunfury Protectors and get rid of a Hex and a Swamp Ooze if you are facing those rush decks. A Sen'jin Shieldmasta would also be a thing you might want to look into adding.
two mana tides is never a good thing, you should know better. try using a gadgetzan instead and replacing the other manatide with a harrison jones or a wild pyro for petes sake. talk about stacking your AOE
I have this deck with the exception of Defender of Argos x2 and Bloodmage Thainos. I feel like I'm lacking a lot of punch. What do you do for opening? I tend to get a lot of agro decks and I slow down in the middle; usually clearing until I get an advantage. It's slow, but probably about a 60% win rate this far.
I'm new to Shaman, so still trying to figure things out. Why is Bloodmage Thalnos × 1 when you can get the same effect (sans +card draw) with other spell power cards?
Agreed, I prefer not using Thalnos. He is a weaker version of Drake.
This deck is pure garbage. currently 3/14 with it. Draws nothing but spells and when you do get the occasional monster, its wiped from the board immediately. Went from rank 6 to 9 with it.
But luck I guess? This is not an easy deck to play though. You always have to keep in mind the overload thing, what card you are going to (or can) use next, when to place Mana Tide, save Rockbiter for Al'Akir, etc. There is more strategy involved than what you might think. And yes, there is some combo involved, so sometimes you will depend on draw. Like any card game I guess.
Play less minions. Use your hero power and combo totems with things in your hand the following turn. Hard to help if you don't give much info.
What can i play instead of Al'Akir the Windlord?
Think Argent Commander, Sunwalker or Leeroy Jenkins might do the job.
THanks
i want to pay for that hearthstone and believe it's legit... but when I click guides and it says Page Not Found.. I'm very hesitant.
hearthable might bad
What are thoughts on -1 mana tide +1 TBK. Or subbing out a different card for TBK. I only have 1 mana tide card and I have a black knight. I read people saying TBK is weak but I have found a lot of use for it.
TBK depends on what rank your playing at. 1 mana tide is enough so stop trying to cram another one in there. I would rather play an argent commander than TBK, or a questing adventurer, had that guy up to 15/15 by turn 10 with druid once. better draw than most realize, and way better than unbound
Harrison Jones seemed to be used on me every game I ran with Doomhammer... Ahren Jesus was telling me to throw the card away. I often use stormforged axe to buff my Unbound Elemental out of swipe/eviscerate/etc range early. I take it you instead use your elemental as bait for their removal rather than wanting to keep it on the board?
Sorry. But you won't be leaving rank 15 with this deck. Shaman is not competitive enough right now to rank higher than that.
Priest - Outlasts (Hardest Matchup)
Paladin - Outlasts+shield control
Hunter - Out trades+Aggro issues
Mage - New Frozen deck completely ruins this shaman deck
Warlock - You do well against handlock. Zoo decimates it.
Druid - Ramps too soon and outcurves board state
Shaman - Mirror match is 50/50. Loses to control.
Rogue - Don't even ask
Warrior - You will win most of the time here except for tauntzerk.
Currently rank 8 with this deck and still climbing.
Priest - Worst matchup to fight if they get out something big while you have no hex in hand.
Paladin - For me (not sure if it will be the same higher than rank 8) the game is usually decided at turn 3 or 4, depending on early trades.
Hunter - Throw up taunts and win. Be smart with face tanking his stuff and you're good.
Mage - Depends on how many consecutive freezes they can play.
Warlock - Nearly 100% win rate so far vs handlock. 30/70 in their favor if they run zoo.
Druid - Okay vs this. No strong favor either direction. An early spell power totem works wonders.
Rogue - *glares*
Warrior - Sometimes they get a gorehowl with 10+ armor. When they don't, this deck wins. Not drawing ooze makes me die inside.
__________
Run bloodlust in this deck at pre-10 ranks. Many people aren't aware of killing totems to stop a lust push.
