Check the SPOILER, STANDARD VERSION NOW OUT.
THE STANDARD VERSION OF THIS DECK WILL BE OUT SOON...
A couple week back, I thought of the idea of a Taunt Warrior, and as you do, I looked up in Hearthpwn. As I found nothing (at the time), I figured that it's time for me to make a deck, and for myself and our beloved hearthpwn community.
The original idea is to try out Sparring Partner,Bolster and Fierce Monkey, especially, with Mr. Sparring, his appearance on the meta is close to non-existent.
As I brought this deck to the fury of the ladder, there were complications as I was overly focused on the Taunt idea, this current deck is brought to you largely by trial-and-error.
I was very close to legend s22, but finally I managed to make it there this time. This deck is the nightmare of many meta decks, you essentially build up this great wall of China, but made immortal with Mr. Kel.
Here's the explanation for a couple of unusual cards:
Sparring Partner,Bolster and Fierce Monkey
As I explained earlier, these are the cornerstone cards for this deck. Fierce Monkey is a pretty good 3 drop, especially for warrior.
Sparring Partner and Bolster, for the taunt theme, and establishing a board filled with buffed up taunts.
Armorsmith x2
Now you might say this is an obvious one, but no. With this deck, I only ran 1 and I found myself through a lot of trouble. You'll need to generate a fair amount of armor, but with Taunts in the way, this works magically in your favor.
Why Obsidian Destroyer not Dr. Boom?
Obsidian Destroyer provides good combo and value (Only in this deck). Its 1/1 taunt has great synergy with Bolster and enables a small but effective bulwark against large minions. The 7/7 body invites immediacy for removal, just like Boom but only that you can't run something into it without going through the taunts. If he manages to live more than one round, (let's be brutally honest here, he's not going to live more than 1 round, otherwise you've essentially won.) you'll be able to stack up your board for more control... (To be continued)
Sparring Partner + The Black Knight Combo
This essentially guarantees the death of a particular minion, Taunt it up with Sparring Partner and kill it with The Black Knight. 8-Mana Combo.
Varian Wrynn provides an incredible tempo swing, pulling out 2-3 Taunts on the Battlefield can save your life. I understand the concern with pulling out Battlecry minions but there aren't that many.. (Especially many Low-cost Battlecry minions were previously played, by the time you put out Varian Wrynn, the probability of you getting a Sparring Partner is rather low.)
Let me quickly round it up, I've got things to do and fish to fry...
I've still got a lot to explain, especially with Kodorider
Kodorider and its spawns cannot be killed by big AOE spells, such as Lightbomb, Flamestrike, Consecration, Holy Nova and so on. They can also be easily Taunted up as well, by for example a Defender of Argus
Card Replacements:
Varian Wrynn: Arch-Thief Rafaam
Kodorider: Sylvanas Windrunner, Piloted Sky Golem
Elise Starseeker: A difficult card to replace this one, since it's ability is rather unique. Maybe for a Sen'jin Shieldmasta?
The Black Knight: Sylvanas Windrunner
Kel'Thuzad: Grommash Hellscream
Alternative:
I'm trying Brawl -1, Arcane Nullifier X-21 -2, Defender of Argus -1, Acolyte of Pain +1, Annoy-o-Tron +2, Bolster +1... I'm only at experimental stage with this change, if it turns out to be effective, I'll make these changes. (I'm rather skeptical of losing my only Brawl.)
Hogger was mentioned a couple of times, I see what everyone meant by using him, and feel free to try him out. The problem withHogger is, since he's a 4/4 and spawns 2/2s, this can be easily killed byFlamestrike orLightbomb. In combination with the problem that a 4/4 body is very easy to deal with. Regardless of my opinion, I do think he could be a viable replacement ofKodorider.

Took this deck out for a ride and after a couple dozen games I realized why this deck often struggle with aggrodecks and early pressure. The big problem is that taunt minions are not quiet stat efficent or too passive. On top of that if you are behind, even just by a little, they wont survive until your next turn, because they have taunt! So it's probably better to swap some cards (kodo rider, annoy-o-tron, obsidian destroyer ect.) with more aggresive cards and give them taunt in your next turn so they can be buffed by bolster and stay as massive targets.
But still you did great work with this very well designed concept !! Keep it up :)
Currently 0-3 with this deck vs 2 Reno locks and a Tempo mage. Can't seem to ever regain board control once I've lost it, and some cards are often just dead in my hand in certain situations where I need high value drops
Edit: Now 0-5 after a Hunter and Secret Paladin. I feel like this deck is conceptually solid but it's missing something... Maybe a Deathlord and/or Chow
hard lose vs Aggro ( 0-5 )
:(
What I like most about this deck is with cards like Kodorider, Obsidian Destroyer and Varian Wrynn you can almost always establish good board presence mid to late game. I think that is the decks biggest strength. Throw in Kel'Thuzad and it's a real party haha.
hahaha thanks for the deck. I get sick satisfaction in winning! i didn't have the 10 cost minion so i put bolf ramshield in he is like some 3/9 dude that absorbs damage instead of hero...works alright
Varian is hilarious to play. Highly recommend the craft. Watching Kel'Thuzad and two Obsidian Destroyers come out with the music playing and then the opponent conceding is amazing. And it's not even that unlikely that he brings out amazing stuff. Sludge Belcher and many other cards are amazing to get for free.
Deck was good before you crippled it with the last "enhancements"
STANDARD VERSION now out, let me know what you think. Thank you all for your upvotes and support.
Have to say, the original performed much better on the US meta for me but still just testing the waters.
Kodoride doesn't make any sense to me?! I will try it with Sylvanas instead. Beside that: Deck looks great! I'm still really high up in the ladder because I didn't play much so let's get some ez wins ;)
I'm getting equally rekt by Aggro and Control (even lost vs a freaking Freeze Mage!!). The only deck that this deck does really well against seems to be Druid.
I'm back to normal Warrior ;)
Fun deck and I'm winning with it!!!
This isn't control warrior. QQ
Hello Mr. Facehunter.
Glad to see you're having fun with it, it feels pretty satisfying winning with an unconventional deck.
I tried to keep my gameplay as Educational and Entertaining as I could. Hope you guys and gals enjoy!
