Idea of the deck
Why do I put the cards into categories ?
Idea of the control deck is to withstand / survive and deal with any cards that your opponent plays. Even if it should go to fatigue stage you will most likely win with this deck unless your opponent mills you somehow before you can deal with it (almost never happens).
Reason why I put the cards in categories is to the degree it will impact your game and how important it is to play the cards right. If you are inexperieneced on how this deck works or how the cards synergice with each other il try to explain it as good as I can.
Mad Scientist Duplicate
These 2 cards alone might win you games straight up. depending on when you get them played out and what you get to duplicate.
Usually when you play this deck you can decide what you will duplicate especially if you get out early Mad Scientist the most obvious thing is to leave the board with the only minion you want to duplicate- but sometimes you can "Fake" the duplicate for another secret- depending on how much information your oponent has.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DUPLICATE?
You want to duplicate based on the type of deck your opponent plays.
Aggro/Tempo
Example : Face hunter you want to Duplicate Antique Healbot / Sludge Belcher
Control : Warrior / warlock
Handlock/Dreadsteed/ lock is obviously that Big Game Hunter is good to get duplicated. Emperor Thaurissan and Ethereal Conjurer for more removal
Control priest : Piloted Shredder / Sludge Belcher / Ethereal Conjurer
Fatigue:
Best case scenario is where you get duplicated Jeweled Scarab / Ethereal Conjurer into Forgotten Torch so that your oponent gets to fatigue before you. Otherwise healbot is a good second choise.
Midrange:
Sludge Belcher Piloted Shredder Water Elemental Based if the opponent uses weapons or not.
Ramp Druid/new smorc druid
Sludge Belcher is very important, Antique Healbot is also good but can still loose to savageroar combo. Jeweled Scarab to get Ice Barrier if you can't duplicate the others.
There is exceptions where you can duplicate other cards. If you have board control or enough removal / cards you need to survive for the longer run- you can Duplicate some of your "Luxury cards" or such as Emperor Thaurissan Arch-Thief Rafaam
Explosive Sheep If you are struggling with keeping control of the board and 3x this sheep can sort things out then get it duplicated. double sheep does the same as a flamestrike on turn 6 possibly so you see where i'm comming from here.
Kezan Mystic This card can be your best friend or your worst enemy. If you are playing against freeze mage, Control hunter (facehunter even), Tempo mage, Secradin or even mirror decks. Then this card can win you the game alone. It's such a huge temposwing against some of these matchups and if you get it duplicated, some of them CAN'T even play anymore secrets because of it.
Big Game Hunter This guy speaks for it self, it's a 3 cost 4-2 that removes the most common legendaries that are played in this game, and some more.
There are almost none decks played these days that doesen't play 1 or more 7 attack minions. some more then others. Getting this duplicated can also win games straight out for you. Dr. Boom won't recommend anyone to have this in their decks.
Mind Control Tech
Just want to explain why I didn't put this in the deck.
**1** It requires the opponent to have at least 4 creatures on the board.
**2** its 9/10 times played around unless it's facehunters/ secret palas.
**3** Usually you get a shitty minion ( 1/100 times personally that I get anything good ).
**4** Kezan Mystic wins you more games per secret stolen then MC Techs do.
**5** Usually played on empty board/ just sits in your hand the whole game.

Muligans - this is what you've been waiting for.
Most people don't need this explained but for those who are new to playing control, here is a few tips .
Druid: It's usually ramp or new Faceaggrosmorcdeck, so you might consider keeping
Zombie ChowMad Scientist Sludge Belcher (if you already have either Zombie Chow or Mad Scientist. Explosive Sheep
Water Elemental (if you have Mad Scientist also in your hand.
Hunter: Smorc or Control? muligans are the same,
Zombie Chow Mad Scientist ALLWAYS keep Kezan Mystic Sludge Belcher might be worth if you start with coin. Piloted Shredder will usually bait out their owl, to setup for Sludge Belcher if you think it might be control then you can keep Polymorph against Savannah Highmane
Mage: To many differnt decks are played these days, but
Mad Scientist Zombie Chow and Jeweled Scarab is good targets if the mage plays Mirror Entity. Kezan Mystic is obvious as most mages plays secrets (mech mage sometimes doesen't) Piloted Shredder is usually annoying to deal with aswell.
Paladin: 90% Secrets here.
Mad Scientist Zombie Chow and Jeweled Scarab Kezan Mystic is not as strong against all the 1 cost secrets but hey, it's still a secret. Explosive Sheep Water ElementalPiloted Shredder and Frostbolt against turn 2 Knife Juggler
Priest: usually plays OTK or Dragon.
Mad Scientist Zombie ChowFrostbolt Piloted Shredder Jeweled Scarab
Rogue: Deathrattle control is the most common this meta.
Mad Scientist Zombie ChowFrostbolt Piloted Shredder Jeweled Scarab
If he plays turn 2 Nerubian Egg it might be worth popping it before he uses Unearthed Raptor don't pop the egg if you have Polymorph
ready for play.
Shaman. Annoying match up, overload with Tunnel Trogg is most common this meta.
Mad Scientist Zombie Chow Frostbolt Antique Healbot Piloted Shredder To bait Hex .
Jeweled Scarab to get a secret or Forgotten Torch
Warlock. Zoo/Handlock/Reno/Dreadsteed.Many types played in the meta, some old some new. Mad Scientist Zombie Chow Frostbolt Big Game Hunter if you think it's either Handlock (zoo also runs Sea Giant )
Piloted Shredder
Warrior. This is probably the only class you wantto keep later cards as Control warrior seems to be the only thing played most of the times.
Mad Scientist Arcane Intellect Piloted Shredder Emperor Thaurissan Ethereal Conjurer also Big Game Hunter is good since they run at least 4 BGH targets. Polymorph can also be kept./ Sludge Belcher

Card choises
Why only 1 Piloted Shredder and Water Elemental ?
answer: Because these are situational cards. water elemental is most effective against weapon classes, and is also better against druid with silence and not as many removals. Piloted shredder is better against classes with spesific removal such as warrior and priest. having one of each gives you a chance to either Duplicate or Echo of Medivh for the stronger one against your opponent. and also it's only room for 1 of each in the deck, not 2 copies.
Echo of Medivh this is usually for last resort, or in some cases the card that will make the win guaranteed. if you have used all your duplicates and is topdecking, then Echo of Medivh can be the one to save your game, duplicating taunts heals, card draw from Jeweled Scarab and Ethereal Conjurer or Brann Bronzebeardis extremely powerful. If you manage to play out Emperor Thaurissan with echo of medievh in your hand can set up some insane reduced combos like healbot (4) brann (2-3) + Echo as 3. against aggro, or other combos such as brann, ethereal conjurer for 2 spells and echo, suddenly you have 2 cards and 2 spells on your hand.
Flamestrike Blizzard
I chose only 1 of each as having the 6 cost play sometimes is the difference on winning against the really scummy aggro decks, and freeze effect is also handy to stal out the game.
Flamestrike is very nice removal of course- usually clears out the board when played, or leaving minions ready to be delt with the next turn.
Killercombo against multiple secrets Brann Bronzebeard into Kezan Mystic - wins you games, stealing 2 secrets against a mage or hunter- usually auto win. against secret pala it will have different results, still really good.

Common mistakes while playing this deck!
These are the situations and things you don't want to happen (keep in mind).
During muligan - is it smart to keep 2x Mad Scientist
Keep 2 if --
**you have a minion that you want to duplicate against your oponent.
**can be kept if: you know that you will be able to get both on the board, and you trade them before he does.
**if you think he might silence one of them (warrior/hunter/paladin/druid).
Worst case that happens is if you duplicate 2x mad scientist with 3 secrets, or 2 cost effigy ain't really what you want either.
Another situation might be: You have sludgebelcher on board, duplicate is up, your opponent has taunt that will die if you trade. Don't do it, you might not think of it in the moment, but suddenly you have duplicated 2x slimes instead of 2 new Sludge belchers. this mistake might happen sometimes if you play against slow decks, and you've had duplicate up for a while and acccidently play a Zombie Chow when you have had your water elemental up for 2 turns. These are small common mistakes that might loose you the game.
There are tons of other misplays that can be made, like healing up when it's not nessessary.
Playing minions just to "have something on board". I can't teach how you how to trade propperly or what you need to do in any given situation. Play the deck, get comfortable with it and with the current meta and you will succeed with this deck.
You will also loose some games due to ridicolous stupid RNG.
Thanks for reading this guide, happy for anykind of feedback.
Against Murloc Paladin
Easy controlled match against a ramp druid- after the druid used double savage roar force of nature combo
When Warlock plays elise starseeker, ends up with mogor and gruul ((100% winchance)) because of the new magecard.
In preparation for standard mode (which is probably awhile) what could you replace the naxx and gvg cards with?
This deck is just pure awesome :D I ran 3 test runs and and 3/3 without problem. You have to think a lot and use tactics especially in the first 3-4 rounds, but after that everything falls into it's place and it is simply unstopabble. I've never seen a face damage hunter be so freakin' desperate, when I drop down the same cards over and over and over again! I LOVE IT! I would give a hundred +1 if I could :D
One question - I've replaced Emperor Thaurissan with Arch-Thief Rafaam, Did I do bad? On the first picture I see them both on board, if the Emperor is in the deck, who do you replace with Rafaam?
I took out Rafaam and put in Elise Starseeker :D but it was just a test so I gues you could run Rafaam still if you wan't however Emperor Thaurissan is a pretty important card to have to give your combos more value, since you usually get more things from your echo ^_^
Thanks a lot for the nice comment ! I'm happy with your success and understanding of the deck, thanks for the +1 :D
Actually as my test runs show Arch-Thief Rafaam brings more for me to the late game, than Emperor Thaurissan. I tried it as you said and I ran out of steam at the end, did not have enough damage on board to scare the enemy. The emperor helps to play more cards, but Rafaam with his battlecry, especially played after Brann Bronzebeard can make the opponent sh*t bricks :D
Hey like this deck but i wonder if there is a replacement for big game hunter?thats the only card i dont have :(
Either an extra water elemental or Animated armor would I reccommend :)
So far 4-0 and lots of fun, playing like 7 Heal bots vs rush rogue made him ragequit :D
awesome dude ^_^
Fun deck, you lose pretty terribly against aggro if you miss the zombie chow and/or the jeweled scarab, but overall is pretty good (i'm 70-65% after 8 games). The only problem, is that there is no clear winning condition: the deck have not much card draw and waiting for Rafaam sometimes is useless, because you've already won or lost. Personally, I've never played Rafaam in all 8 games (and draw him just twice): if the point is to overrun your opponent, much as a tempo play, why not Dr.Boom? Or, mabye i've played in a style it's not supposed to...
But, in the end, pretty good deck for my level (EU 15/13), if you're lucky and you don't meet too many aggro Shaman, Secredin or FaceHunter...
Thanks for posting!
yeah, I'm thinking of putting some extra early game- such as +1 zombiechow or something else for early aggression.
First game with this deck I was playing against a mage who put up two secrets (Ice Block and Ice Barrier) and thought they were safe until I used Brann and Kezan Mystic for lethal lmaoo
Brann kezan against freeze = freewins :3
Really liking this deck so far. I'm playing at pretty low levels, but it's doing really well for me. The only change I've made from the stock list is -1 BGH + 1 Elise. Just because I don't have a BGH, or the dust to craft one yet, and Elise seemed like the most fun, and possibly explosive alternative. As soon as I've got one, I'm making the switch.
Last game, I was against another Mage who, obviously, had a lot of similar toys...but not quite the same. He ended up getting an Animated Armor off of a Mirror Entity, but between Duplicates and my Echo, I had something like 4-5 Armors and 3-4 Water Elementals. I played a Rafaam relatively early, and got the +10 to a minion, he played one late, and took the 10 damage...but most of that went to my face. Last play he got of the game, I had an armor that I'd dropped the +10 buff on, and a Water Elemental that he cleared out, and played a Secret. My next turn, I dropped the Kezan, reasoning that if it was a Mirror Entity again, I'd be fine, but if it was a Vaporize, I'd be sad. It was, in fact, a Vaporize...and now that it was in my possession, I was free to take him down.
It was a slow match though...he had a Summoning Stone that he got 4-5 minions off of. Since I could only keep so many on the field at a time, I had to keep clearing his stuff, and pinging down the stone. Still, at the end, I had 6 or so cards left in hand, which could have been useful in any number of scenarios (Ethereal Conjurer with Brann down is ridiculous,) and he had 2. So much fun.
Thanks for sharing this DaneKast ! ^^ and i'm suprised if elise works in the deck for you- perhaps that can be an edition when i'm going to make the RenoControl version of the deck. and yes, I think you absolutely should get the BGH soon, but perhaps you could keep elise still in the deck and swap for something else... who knows. I would be more then happy to play a few games with you if you would like that. seems like you could share some ideas and thoughts in the making of a even stronger deck.
Best Regards. mobaChaos#2809
would probably only pick 1- perhaps -1 fireball is the better one :)
If I knew how you muligan / your choises- then I would understand better, this have never occured for me. iv'e lost a few games straight from the drawluck or just awful draws. but not that much :) this deck is supposed to take you all the way to the fatigue if needed. it's natural to loose against some aggros with perfect draws, but that's how decks works.
ahh I see, yes the deck gets "better" with age. you get sort of a feel when to do things that you usually wouldn't do. perhaps not do the same muligan allways ?
Thanks a lot :) and yes- one of the important things about the game is to have fun while playing- instead of playing the nobrain decks when you just grind. This deck probably has the most ways/outcomes a game can have. so many different draw mechanics that can occur. It never gets boring, and a big thanks to that is the Ethereal Conjurer :)
haha :) I sometimes myself get's hands filled with cards that ain't even from the deck- and we're playing mage, not priest :D
I see- water elemental and animated armor does 2 completely different jobs against different decks- lets say you're up against priest, the 4-4 animated armor survives, while the water elemental gets shadow word : pained, or animated armor against control warrior- dies to 1 charge from death's bite, while water elemental has to soak up more dmg from either shield slam, execute or other minions :) Sylvanas can be better in some situations, but I find that 5-5 for 6 and usually you don't get much value from her then id rather have earlier cost pressure that can bet duplicated earlier. and yes- this deck is very difficult to master- and your predictions matters a lot.
