Phantomas Dragon Edition
With the great success of the Phantomas Deck I present you today the Phantomas Dragon Edition, an optimized version of the deck for ranked play mode.
Here is an example of what can happen when you play this deck:
How to play this deck:
Your early toolbox against all the aggro / tempo decks on ladder are Backstab, Eviscerate, Fan of Knives (especially against secret Paladin), SI:7 Agent and of course Beneath the Grounds, which can swing the game for you in crazy ways - at the risk of the RNG that the Ambush! cards are drawn.
Midgame you have your Twilight Guardian, Azure Drake, Blackwing Corruptor or you can Burgle for more ressources.
When the late game begins, you can open it by playing Grand Crusader to get a big body on board and draw a Paladin card (again, more ressources, with 2x Burgle that's 3 cards advantage). Or, depending on your opponents hero power, you play Sideshow Spelleater. If you are lucky and play against any kind of inspire decks, then hold this card back until your opponent played Justicar Trueheart (this card is most likely in any inspire deck). Moreover, Warriors (except Patron Warrior) tend to play this card.
Chillmaw is very good against Patron Warrior when played at the right time (your opponent had his Emperor Thaurissan turn and it's turn 8+ than there is a good chance that your opponent will one shot you with his Frothing Berserker combo. Make sure he already played both Executes before playing Chillmaw (and of course have a dragon in your hand!).
Your showstopper and comeback combo is 1 or 2 Molten Giant(s) + Antique Healbot + Sunfury Protector when you are below 10 health.
Ysera or Anub'arak can win you games, where as Anub'arak is really great against Freeze Mage / Giant Mage / Majordomo Executus Mage.
When you have the option to play Beneath the Grounds or Burgle then always play Beneath the Grounds first! You play Burgle when you have room/time/mana or don't have any other 3-drop.
Cards who didn't make it in the deck:
- Alexstrasza - well, these words you hear a lot when it comes to specific cards: "too slow for current meta", and that's true in this deck, Molten Giant + Antique Healbot + Sunfury Protector is 7 Mana when you are at 10 life or below and will bring you back with (at least) one 8/8 taunt, 1 3/3 taunt and a 2/3 minion + 8 life = 18 life, where as Alexstrasza is only 1 minion, no taunt and brings you to 15 life.
- Emperor Thaurissan / Preparation - you don't really need the discount in this deck, but you can cut the Grand Crusador if you want
I hope you have fun with the deck.
If you like it, please rate it or leave a comment (or both)!
This deck is currently played on meta season 18. See it live on my stream!

Cool ideas but unfortunately not competitive enough for me.
I kept some of the mechanics though and tried to make this deck more viable for the ladder.
I took out mostly all Dragon cards (except Azure drakes, Ysera) since i seldom had the luxury to have any synergy in hand at all.
To replace the taunts I have a mix of Senjin and Master Jouster. Together with the Sunfury Protectors it is enough taunt for now. I didnt take Belchers, becaue the 4 mana slot was complety empty of minions, therefore Senjin Shieldmaste made more sense to me.
I also added Sabotage and im thinking on adding one Vanish. Sabotage can save your ass and vanish is sadly the only card in rogues arsenal to bring you back from a vastly outnumbered board. The upside: it cancels buffs already casted by your opponent and sometimes even destroys some minions due to hand size.
The deck also needs some early drops thats why im thinking that one burgle sadly has to go, but im not sure on that one yet.
Spelleater is a must. Rogues hero power is so bad that i wish i could somehow get this minion out asap!
I will report back, when i had played more games.
Thank you for that Feedback!
Have you tried out Phantomas Crusader as well?
No I have not. But by looking at it i see that it has the same problems as the dragon edtion. The Coldlight oracle seems to be a nice touch though, maybe there is even some kind of mill synergy with vanish.
What did you take out for Preparation ?
what rank u achived with this deck this season ( last season )
it looks very fun and intresting, but I also dont want something that u can't climb with either, would it able to reach rank 5 or somehting
As a dedicated deckbuilder I create a lot of decks each season and obviously I can't play them all to legend, because there is only the possibility to reach legend once per season (I don't have cards on other realms, only EU).
All decks I create have enough winrate ratio to be played on ladder (except mentioned otherwise in the description), so you can reach legend with them. If you made it to legend, please give feedback - thanks! :-)
The highest winrate with all 3 Phantomas versions I had with the Phantomas Crusader, but I think you can get to legend with all 3 versions. But be aware that control decks are very time consuming to ladder, most people play aggro/face or combo/burst finisher decks, only control warrior and dragon priest are the exception at the current meta.
So it can be a plus that most opponents will not know what deck you are playing which is always a great advantage.
If you do the grind (maybe next season, since this season is only 3 days left) and reach the goal please give us feedback here! :-)
Burgle is such a stupid card, i feel like a dirty Priest when I use it lol. Having fun with this deck.
For Anub'arak you can sub Nefarian, as he will you give 2 card ressources. Beneath the Grounds is really a tough one, because it's a core element of the deck. You can go for Blackwing Technician if you don't have any other good 3-drop, but it's not that strong as Beneath the Grounds.
I feel like this deck is begging for Nefarian.
Very fun when it works. But like others said, it's weak against aggro. I brought in a skulker but it's still not enough to be consistent to ladder with
Very, very fun to play so far. Great win rate against control with unpredictable feature of this deck, especially warriors since only a few run silence so Anub'arak really shines. Stolen Brawl, Lightbomb or Consecration with Burgle are all nasty.
But I have some problems against aggro zoo though, seems like too fast to handle if you dont have Backstab or SI:7 Agent in starting hand.
Like it even more than the original. Great work!
I'm getting rocked in the early game.
Edit:
Since this post have dropped from rank 9 to rank 13, on a massive losing streak. It's a very fun deck, just very inconsistent.
For this rank area my guess is that you only got secret Paladin, Hunter and Warlocks as opponents most of the time. Those are really hard matchups and you need your early game cards to fight them.
It might not be a tier 1 deck, but it's similar to handlock, which has the same problems against the classes mentioned above.
The main problem is that rogue is lacking AOE damage, using Blade Flurry implies that you need at least 2-4 card slots for weapon upgrades and Vanish is only usable in mill rogue.
