This deck has now reached/received it's last, final changes and has now reached Legend rank and beyond. I want to personally thank everyone who helped with all the amazing feedback, videos and live streaming.
Thank you.
This deck is the most fun and enjoyable experience I've had in Hearthstone since pre-nerf changes in beta. This deck has everything a person wants that's looking for a efficient deck that can reach legend and above but most importantly, to have fun while doing so.
The RNG always mixes the deck up and you'll never know what type of game you'll have next time you play and yet it stays efficient even if so.
- Mulligan: Deck is mainly tempo so keep any early board control card or early board presence cards. Same applies for any type of match-up. [Mana Wyrm, Frostbolt, Unstable Portal, Mad Scientist, Sorcerer's Apprentice and even Flamewaker if you have coin]
- Combos: There are several combos within the deck. [Mana Wyrm + Spell, Rhonin + Archamge Antonidas and any type of Spell Damage,Flamewaker + Any spell, Effigy with any board presence and much more]
- Lategame: Rhonin combined with Archmage Antonidas should be a secure cycle for power and reach, for those control match-ups. Effigy with high cost drops combines extremely well. Nexus-Champion Saraad can win games alone if left un-checked.
- Cards to switch for meta Tech: If needed to swap/remove some cards for a different meta.[ Counterspell, Piloted Shredder and/or Polymorph. Polymorph is an excellent counter vs Secret decks and about every other high threat minion in the game of course so I would suggest, if needed, to remove it last. A cuple of tech changes could be i.e Replacing Counterspell with a Duplicate and replace any number of Piloted Shredders for Sludge Belcher or Antique Healbot. Low mana curve tech works as well, Flamecannon as an example. Some additional substitutes for Piloted Shredders are both Water Elemental and Mechanical Yeti. Those are both excellent cards and should be considered on equal footing as Shredders. It's more about your personal taste and playstyle.]
- Replacement: If your missing something like i.e Rhonin, look above and fill that slot with a tech card of your choice or something to fill the decks combination slot. And if you're brave enough or want to add a bit more "flare" to the RNG "fun" aspect, Spellslinger. Keep in mind, replacing to many cards makes it a different deck. Arcane Blast can be replaced by either Flamecannon or another Arance Missiles There is nothing wrong with running two Arcane Blasts if you prefer those over above suggestions.
NEW
- LoE: Since some questions and further interests has appeared I just want to make this clear. This deck is beyond a month old and as you know, a month is hearthstone is a lifetime in meta changes. The deck still does fairly well on ladder but I've done some minor changes to the current version I'm playing personally. I will list the bellow but I wont change it in the list, because of the decks age there is no reason to do so. Once again it reached legend ranks with these adjustments.
- 2 Fireball / +2 Forgotten Torch
- 2 Azure Drake / +2 Ethereal Conjurer
Good Luck and Have Fun!
((If you have any questions post bellow and I'll do my best to answer them, be sure to read through the comment section before you do and see if your question has already been answer through another comment, thank you.))
Krisofesarus was kind enough to do a deck spotlight for this deck, check it out bellow and be sure to leave him a follow as well(this video plays the 1.0 version, the deck is in final version 1.1 as of now). :)
Thanks for the list. Beat a TGT Dragon Priest for the first time on ladder, w00t!
Hey man, great deck, Lots of fun to play. Was wondering about Arcane Blast though, doesn't seem like too strong of a card, can you give some insight on it?
Hi derArtz!
So my personal story behind why I play a Arcane Blast is not to complicated nor long. Basically I placed it in the deck for that guaranteed 2 damage or more for a secure removal. Arcane Missiles is of course one extra damage source bit it's not reliable to do what you want it to. There are a lot of early drops with 2 health that can really halt your curve if Arcane Missiles or a proc from Flamewaker wiffs in midstage, even lategame.
I mentioned that playing something else than Arcane Blast is a viable option as well in the replacement notations(another Arcane Missiles or Flamecannon), though going back to the beginning of this answer, personally I've had good success with it and I have grown very fond of it.
I hope that answer was satisfactory enough derArtz.
Good luck! :)
Also, it's a Soulfire (without the discard downside) if you have a Drake in play.
Ah yes, I guess it is. :)
*I actually forgot to mention that it's a good card to curve out turn 6 combined with Azure Drake since the deck doesn't run any 6 drops.
I don't have Rhonin so i changed him to Malygos because i love Malygos. I'm doing very well with the deck and having a lot of fun. In 5 five games until now, i have 5 wins but i didn't use Malygos yet (didn't draw him).
I wonder what could be a better option..
Thank you for the deck!
Hi thiagopm26.
Oh would love for you to keep Malygos and play a good sample of games then report back here with your assesment of the addition to the deck for future reference and future deck creations.
Good luck and glad you like it Thiago.
I know Malygos isn't the best card out there but i've played a lot more games and i'm loving it. In all games that i played Malygos, what happened is that nobody was expecting him. All of their removal spells were used for Dr. Boom, Nexus-Champion Saraad and Archmage Antonidas and silences were primarily used for Mad Scientist.
Also, i added a Sludge Belcher because i was suffering against aggro decks when i didn't make a good start.
I feel like Effigy is helping me a lot against some matchups that i almost never win - like Dragon Priest - because it helps me to fight against his early board presence, although Effigy is better with high level minions.
Thank you again (and sorry for possible grammar errors).
Very similar to the Secretless Deck on Icy Veins, with a few differences.
I replaced one Effigy with Soot Spewer, since it's a nice low-cost bump to any spells you hold in hand mid - late game.
Great deck! Thanks!
hey could u add me or let me add u
hey man love the mage but im having some trouble winning with it
decent deck
shit deck guaranteed loss to any face deck
Hi Noskillgame.
Great feedback there, careful you don't hurt your self on the way out.
Hi Sektor_Bg
I just wanted to say comments like this makes me smile.
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoy it. :)
Changed the Dr. Boom for Malygos because Dr. 7 is a main target for the Big Game Hunter and also for the lulz.
3 times 8 Damage Arcane Missiles are pure cash and giggles.
How about Malygos for Mirror Entity? I love the good Dr, but still want Maly in there!
Is Rhonin worth crafting? I have never seen him make the difference in a game, and is much slower than his main competitors for the slot: Sylvanas, Rag and Toshley.
General consensus seems to be no. When you're able to get value out of him, he's Dr. Boom level good. Often times though your opponent is able to play around him or silence him, effectively making him a 7/7 for 8. The fact that his effect is a death rattle and not a battle cry is really limiting.
You might play him if you have him, but I wouldn't say he's a hard requirement for the deck.
I've gotten some decent value out of him in the games that he has shown up for me. It's true that he can be silenced but there are honestly other cards in the deck that may draw that fire from him before he appears. And even if it doesn't he's still a 7/7 and if you manage to have Effigy in place when he goes down you will get a very nice replacement for him.
All that being said the deck does perform very well on it's own but the current meta is very fast. I managed to take down just about everything last night (including a secret pally or 2) but in general the deck will struggle against things like Mech mage, secret pally, and face hunter unless you have the absolute best hand (I lost 4 in a row against 2 face hunters and 2 mech mages before loggin off this morning).
It is a fun deck though and I do enjoy it. It just needs some aggro counters.
