Heyy. I'm DPSimi and I'm gonna share my Midrange-Warrior. This past month has been pretty rough for Warriors with the rise of Flamewaker-Mage. But this month I'm seeing less of them around, so I'm going to climb with my old Midrange-Warrior with a few new tricks for today's meta.
Against a more aggressive meta, Zoo, Mage, Hunter. I like to use this Tempo-Warrior. Which uses Acolyte of Pain instead of Battle Rage.
Why Midrange-Warrior.
Warrior weapons are the best board control cards in the game. This is why in arena the strength of a warrior deck is directly correlated with the number of weapons they get. eg. Fiery Win Axe.
I also like to have fun while playing hearhtstone. And this deck is the most fun deck that is still viable. Druids and Hunters are no fun to play.
Warriors also have an abundance of card draw mechanics. Slam Battle Rage and Acolyte of Pain.
Finally, the burst. Grommash Hellscream 8 mana 10 damage. double Heroic Strike 4 mana 8 damage. Mortal Strike is a potent finisher to get around taunt.
Cards I want to add.
Loatheb
Ironbeak Owl / Spellbreaker
Sludge Belcher
Wolfrider
Amani Berserker
How to Play: Control the board until you can start to push for lethal. Make sure to Count the damage that you have over the next couple turns. Get use out of Battle Rage when you can. Our threats, Bloodsail, Frothing, Kor'kron, Grommash, should almost always go face.
Card Choices:
Battle Rage: This card defines the Midrange-Warrior over other Aggro-Warriors which use Loot Hoarder. This deck is revolved around this card and other card choices are made to get the most out of Battle Rage. I put so much emphasis around Battle Rage, because it can be so powerful, and outright win you the game.
Warbot: I chose Warbot over Leper Gnome and Zombie Chow. Leper Gnome is better in the late game because it can give you 2 damage to get through a taunt. Zombie Chow is better at board control early, but is useless in the late game. Warbot can uniquely snowball a game and is still very strong at early board control, though it is still useless if you topdeck it.
Revenge: Great card. Combos with Battle Rage and is a low mana board clear. I like Revenge over Whirlwind because it is stronger in the late game, and the 1 mana difference isn't too important in the early game.
Shade of Naxxramas: Simply put this is another threat for your opponent to deal with. Shade along with Bloodsail Raider and Frothing Berserker. are all cards that scale in strength as the game progresses. I chose Shade of Naxxramas over Wolfrider, but I can see a good argument for putting in either. Ultimately, Shade works better with Battle Rage.
Upgrade!: Another card that scales well into the late game and can help board control in the early game if you don't have Fiery War Axe.
Matchups:
Druid: 65% Highly dependent on the Druids draw unfortunately. However our deck usually can out tempo the Druid. Also Druids lack hard removal so our threats stay on the board longer than usual.
Face Hunter: 55% Our hero power counters the Hunter's. Our mid-game threats are too big for the Hunter to ignore. Revenge clears their board.
Mid-range Hunter-35% We don't have a good answer to Highmane and freezing trap is very strong against us.
Mage: 30% Snowchugger and Water Elemental wreck us.
Paladin: 70% Paladin's lack hard removal and Revenge will clear their board.
Priest: 60% Just be cautious of Auchenai Circle Combo. and play around Shadow Madness.
Rogues 75% Just Go Face.
Standard Shaman: 30% They have alot of removal for us and Feral Spirit is very strong. Only redeeming factor is that they usually mulligan for Control Warrior.
Mech-Shaman: 65% No taunts and no freeze, but they still have removal.
Handlock: 60% highly dependant on their draw though we can usually burst them down before the 3 big taunt comes out.
Zoolock: 60% Just Go Face
Warrior: 30% They have alot of removal and armor.
edit 1: -1 Piloted Shredder, +1 Loatheb. There were too many 4 drops. I looked at mid-range hunter.
-1 Slam, +1 Spellbreaker. Silence is neccesary in this deck and card draw wasn't too much of an issue.
I am currently 93-42 from rank 15 to Legend with these changes
Fast Druid: 6-1 86%
Taunt Druid: 1-3 25%
Face Hunter: 6-3 66%
Mid-Range Hunter: 3-4 42%
Mech Mage: 6-1 86%
Flamewaker Mage: 6-2 75%
Giants Mage: 1-1 50%
Freeze Mage: 5-0
Shockadin: 7-3 70%
Midrange Palladin: 6-2 75%
Fatigue Priest: 4-2 66%
Control Priest: 5-1 83%
Oil Rogue: 5-0
Tempo Rogue: 2-0
Mech Shaman: 5-2 54%
Control Shaman: 2-7 27% D": I still don't understand why Shaman is so good.
Handlock: 7-0
Zoolock: 7-3 70%
Control Warrior: 3-3 50%
Patron Warrior: 4-2 66%
I love the idea of this deck. I have a couple of questions:
Does the deck still work and is this list up to date?
Do you know a replacement for Grim Patron? I dont have BRM yet.
I think you are looking for something like this. Assuming you also don't have LoE
hello again,
i need a replacement for revenge and Sylvanas? I have leeroy and a lot more legendarys but not that one :)
thx for the help!
Sludge Belcher or Captain Greenskin and Whirlwind
Having an emotional roller coaster ride with this deck dropped from rank 12 to 14. then had an almost effortless streak to rank 10. Currently on a massive losing streak all the way back down to rank 14. Losing with many opponents at only 1 health. I'm clearly having a lot piloting errors myself, gonna try and grind past the loses.
This deck isn't quite updated. You might want to consider -Ragnaros, -Revenge : +Mortal Strike/Sludge Belcher, +Shade.
Since you have played at least a dozen games with the deck, you can probably make your own changes that adapts to your metagame. Especially when climbing you should probably go with a more aggressive version to stay competitive against aggro. Rag in particular I only put in once I've reached legend to deal have a better winrate vs Druid and Control Warrior.
Gets demolished by actual aggro decks with damage application, and taunts completely shut-down due to no hard removal/one silence
If you want aggro play hunter, don't bother with this
This is a mid-range deck to begin with. But this deck is very strong vs. aggro because we can control the board early. Warbot, Cruel Taskmaster, Fiery War Axe will trade 2 for 1. We get free taunts from Dread Corsair. After that we can put out huge threats like Bloodsail Raider and Frothing Berserker that face decks just can't deal with. Finally, Revenge will just clear the board.
Aggro Mage is a poor matchup though.
As for taunts, Our weapons will one shot most taunts. If you are facing alot of taunt druid, I encouage you to put in an Execute instead of either Amani, or Leeroy. I actually usually have execute in the deck, but I wanted to experiment with Leeroy this season. :D
Paladin will eat you no matter wat type of warrior you are piloting ( besides Patron ), Paladins have more healing, more midrange minions, more removal and more just as much late game as any aggro or control Warrior sadly.
Sorry, what do you mean? We have an strong answer to pretty much anything standard Paladins can throw at us. (except for Shielded Minibot).
Weapons are the most efficient removal cards in the game. Usually trading 2 for 1. We also take advantage of Paladins innate lack of hard removal with more threats than a Paladin can deal with.
If you are talking about Muster for Battle + Quartermaster combo on turn 8. They should probably be dead or we can play Revenge.
@UnbaitedHS Paladin is one of if not the easiest matchup for this deck. Paladins innately lack any hard removal(for less than 2 cards and 6 mana). We have whirlwind effects to wipe their recruits. Their recruits give us card draw through Battle Rage. Our mid-game is much stronger than theirs. Name a single threat a Paladin has in the mid-game (Aldor Peacekeeper??, Knife + Muster???). Compare with Bloodsail Raider, Frothing Berserker, Kor'kron Elite and free Dread Corsairs to top it all off.
32 healing, ....... and three taunts........ Harrison.......why did you leave that part out?
@UnbaitedHS Their healing isn't strong and doesn't affect the board like Druid or Warrior. Just hit the taunts, most decks have more of them anyway. With so many weapons losing half of a weapon isn't a big deal.
Remember that they can't deal with the threats we put on the board, so if they spend a turn to get rid of our 5/1 Arcanite Reaper they will lose.
Hey man this deck is really interesting to me. Had most of the cards but crafted the last two I was missing. I'm not exactly sure how to play this deck yet but I'm getting the idea, but given the current meta is there a slot for Ironbeak Owl/Loatheb/Kezan Mystic? not all three, but I play a lot of hunter and mage and I think Loatheb and Kezan could be useful.
EDIT: I've been thinking of taking out the Shade and either battle rage or slam for Loatheb and Mystic/Owl
EDIT AGAIN: Sorry for posting so much I was just infatuated with the deck and wanted to try out some new things.
I took out Shade of Nax and Slam and added Loatheb and Thaurissan, I don't know if Thaurissan works in this deck but with only a couple activators from Grom I feel like those discounts could be useful. If he doesn't work out I was contemplating going for a Kezan Mystic, Ironbeak/Spellbreaker or possibly Senjin ShieldMasta to get a taunt.
Yes. I really want to put in those cards. Silences really seem like they could help the deck. I'm probably going to with -Slam, -Upgrade!, +2 Spellbreaker. Or only 1 Spellbreaker.
Same for Loatheb, but I just can't find room for him. Maybe trade for Shade, but 3 drops are hard to come by.
i find Gorehowl the best possible replacment
Grommash really boost the power of the deck. But as BouncingBlades said Gorehowl is the best replacement if you must, but honestly alot of the deck would change without Grommash.
Yes. that is the beauty of Bloodsail Raider turn 2 it's just a standard 2/3, which isn't bad at all, but the card gets better as the game goes on.
Don't be afraid to play it naked on turn 2.
I have matched up with this deck 3 times while playing Priest. 2 loss 1 win. The Arcanite Reaper is really scary if you have not Harrison or Ooze. I had Harrison in hand when I won.
Scary deck and if you are the creator of this deck man, sorry but I had so many bad words about you.
Yea. I'm the creator of the deck. This archetype has really been my specialty since I began heathstone and opened a Captain Greenskin. This deck is just me trying to find a home for him haha. But he's just not good enough anymore. :(
