Very fun to play deck. Thanks Kibler
16-3 so far. Pretty solid Highlander build, that's for sure!
Only downside: if your opening hand/mulligan sucks.. well, it's pretty much over against all the aggro archetypes out there, so choose wisely as Indy once did.
I can't get passed D5 with any shaman control deck for the life of me. It sucks and priest destroys me each time.
Also can anybody explain to me what mana saber is good for? Every time I have it in a deck I always end up cutting it
Think of it as a good body that's also worth a coin. Don't cut it, and as SirJohn suggested - cut lady vashj if anything, as she does too little right now (not enough big spells, and we're not playing burn shaman here). I also replaced it with 2-cost taunt/student, ended up with taunt due too much aggro lately.
It's not an easy deck to play, mulligan here is crucial, and tempo is a bit off because shaman is too fair, so saber on 3rd/4th turn is not only worth it, it's sometimes the smallest tempo move that would eventually win the game.
Mulligan is indeed key against Aggro as you will need a lot of removal early (Zeph, Lightning Storm). Manasaber is also key in some matchups, e.g. you play it on t4 and then you can get +1 mana and play The Lurker Below for a big board clear on t5 (against aggro)
I checked again quickly and Kibler had a copy of Bonechewer Brawler instead of Lady Vashj. Actually Lady Vashj is pretty bad as it'snothing special on its own as a minion and you generally draw the prime way too late in the game to get any real value from it. I also noticed that Kibler later he also added a Transfer Student, not sure which other card he cut.
I initially struggled against Gala Priest as I was trying to play pure control and they would simply outvalue me in the late game and/or I would reach fatigue first, but once I realized I should play a bit more tempo-like against Priest and try to exhaust their removal options and kill them, I am 3-0 against them
3-0 on standard ladder at Diamond 9 with this exact deck this morning. Wins were a Gala Priest, Dragon Hunter, and Highlander Hunter. The hardest win was the Highlander Hunter. Easiest was the Priest, actually. Thank you for the deck! What is the one card difference between your and Kiblers list?
