Control Shaman but with Bombs as a finisher in the late game ! Get your quest going then :
- Seaforium Bomber puts 2 bombs in your opponent's deck.
- Augmented Elekk was in the deck but after some playtesting it feels like too much, 6/8 bombs against control is already enough pressure.
- Ofc, Shudderwock replays all these bombs TWICE if you have the coin or got him with Jepetto.
- more burn damage with Weaponized Wasp being able to deal 6 to the enemy face or help control the board.
- Lifedrinker is another 6 burn damage but also 6 heal to help stabilize and have time to burn our opponent through bombs.
Early game plays :
Just mulligan hard for Questing Explorer and the lackey generators. Lackeys, in addition of Weaponized Wasp are great tool to take control of the board in early game and give you the time you need to finish your quest.
Late game stabilizing tools :
- 2x Hagatha's Scheme
- 2x Earthquake
- 2x Giggling Inventor
Thx to all the feedback you guys gave on this deck so far, and if anyone else has more ideas please share them in the comment I'll be happy to talk with you about it !
---------------
Here's a gameplay video a fellow Shaman player posted on the thread if you're interested. He's take on the deck is slightly different but the core idea is the same :
I see ! Twilight Drake is always a card you're ok playing in Control Shaman and the deck was lacking turn 4 drop so I like the idea.
Is 2xScheme enough for AoEs ? I was feeling like Earthquakes was pretty nice to survive the insane amount of Zoo on ladder.
Thx for posting a video, I'll add it to the description !
ps: also, how is Siamat ? Didn't open him and I'm very tight on dust
I'll be editing the deck later on. I personally face at least 50% Zoolock so the deck needs to be twisted around that.
bad deck
Any good replacements for Jepetto?
not really but you can try novice engineer
why is it invalid?
expansion isnt out yet dude
Doesn't make any sense to have elekk with only 2 ways to shuffle bombs.. it's not even used in most bomb warrior decks and they're shuffling bombs all day
With Elekk you shuffle 4 bombs instead of two. In warrior, Elekk = +5 damage, here it's +10 for a 3 mana 3/4. I think only one Elekk is fine !
.
I've given more thought about the list, thx to everyone's feedback in the comments ! Thanks to everyone who came here and took the time to give an opinion, ideas etc, you guys are awesome !
Anyway, what seems to rise the most eyebrows is how heavy the curve is. And I have to admit, for a deck that wants to perma use 2 mana in its hero power, lowering it down a bit could be good.
The cards I can see going away : Giggling Inventor and Walking Fountain. Even though they fit very well in a control shaman, they cost a lot of mana. Giggling + HP is pretty sick time gain but it's 9 mana. Walking Fountain is insane against decks like Mech Aggro Hunter but doesn't fit that well in the deck. Maybe keeping one on day one just in case and then improvise.
I also feel like Hex maybe doesn't belong in the deck. Especially if we add to the deck another card I want to talk about : Fire Elemental. Between this card and Weaponized Wasp, we have two ways of dealing 6 damage to a creature if we need to remove it. Honestly, we rarely need more than that, and Hex can often end up pretty clunky in hand (at least in Rise of Mechs meta it does, exept against Mech Paladin). So I can see some possible space made here aswell. Maybe cut both Hex and play a 2nd Plague of Murlocs ?
With those cuts we could add the Fire Elemental I talked about and some early plays : I love Vulpera Scoundrel so I think I'll try the card. Would be nice to find maybe another turn 4 play aswell, Lifedrinker being the only one if Hex is cut. But none of them seem really good.
i can see the future tier 1 deck PogMe
Yeah I can definitely see Novice replacing Questing Explorer after some testing. It just feels like playing her on 2 is so strong it's worth sacrificing the 2nd one but I'll try it out and see how often I don't even play either of them !
I'm really not a fan of Bogslosher though, as I explained in another comment below, I feel like spending 3 mana to sap your own minion is pretty bad. I played a lot with it this year, and I don't like it. Even here with the hero power I think I'd prefer to have a good other card than anti-tempo card that allows me to play something one more time. When you look at it, it's kind of a 5 mana shadow step, with a 3/3. Sure the thing you bounce back gets additional stats too but at this stage of the game I'm not sure it will matter much.
You might be right about Fountain. The anti-synergy with Jeppeto makes it questionnable. Problem is, the battlecry healing minions are all way worse than a Fountain. Witch's Brew is a consideration for sure, but I think Fountain is way stronger. There's very little games where you die before you can play fountain. And even in the game you would, playing 3x brew on turn 6 without clearing this nice little full board of murloc of your opponent isn't going to save you either.
Maybe the combination of Witch's Brew + Kragwa could find its way in the deck ! Play witch's brew, then HP + Kragwa and basically have infinite healing from now on.
Good reply.
I have actually included krag-wa in my deck, so yea, im probably gonna go for witch brew, cos u can generate infinite heal from that, or hope to discover one. I am making a spell heavy deck, so with King Phaoris.
Maybe I will consider dropping bogslosher, im not sure.
A potential way of discovering Witch's Brew, or other spells depending on the situation, could be Vulpera Scoundrel. This card is really overstated compared to the other discover cards we've seen in the past, and it's shaman spells only. It's a good turn 3 play, and it can also be a sick value play in the late game (HP + vulpera + barista, get 2 vulpera in hand, next turn HP + vulpera + vulpera, gets a million spells in your hand !).
I've given more thought into bogslosher, and maybe in this variation of control shaman it wouldn't be as bad as it is in my current deck. It's a good early game play to help complete the quest if you specifically use it on a lackey. That's the only thing cheap enough in the deck to be worth bouncing back without losing too much tempo. So, pretty narrow use for it, but not as bad as I pictured it.
This deck is beautiful. I was doubtful about the potential here to begin with but you've really made it work. Can't wait to try it out :)
Thx mate ! Hope we'll have fun with it. It's funny how the first deck I play every expansion and up being shaman haha
I feel questing explorer is really overrated. If you don't draw this card on the first 1-5 turns, it's mostly a dead and useless card, since the battlecry is useless. I would recommend -2 questing explorer, and sometghing like +2 evil totem or +2 menance nimbus
-2 giggling inventor, because it doesnt seem to fit that well, and too slow compared to the rest of the deck.
Yeah I don't think Questin Explorer is incredible, but still I think she's worth the spot in the deck. There's not that many good turn 2/3 battlecries, and she negates the effect of being one card down because of the quest. Even if you only get one of the two girls before the quest is completed I think it's worth ; and since you hard mulligan for only her and lackeys it's pretty likely to play one almost every game.
For example, I think she's far better than Nimbus. Nimbus really feels like a pure +1 on your quest on a 2/2 body. I play it atm in my control shaman, but it's mostly because 2 bodies = 2 spells with Hagatha. Random elemental is almost always very bad and unplayable, so many of them are just overcosted trash. Even when your quest is completed, doubling up his battlecry and getting 2 random elementals is not gonna win you the game in any way. If you really don't like Questing Explorer I would recommend playing Novice Engineer instead of Nimbus.
I think I agree with you on the Gigglings though ! The more passes the more I think it would be better for the deck to have more early plays ; quest completion would be faster and you could HP + battlecries more easily with low cost cards. And the 7 mana spot is already filled with Earthquake, so I guess it would have to come down to a choice : Giggling or Earthquake. Earthquake is a super powerfull AoE that is also very efficient against Soul of the Forest and Soul of the Murlocs as well as against Reborn cards. It doesn't kill giants though.
Gigglings on the other hand are great because they come back with Shudderwock.
Hard to make a choice really between the two...
so shaman all ready has great 2 drops in nimbus and is gaining sandstorm elemental. also not running zap is probably wrong which its probably also wrong to not run thunderhead. some of the best decks in hearthstone history have pretty straight forward strategies but keep running the power cards in the deck because they are powerful. the fact that the overload cards are very good in shaman right now and dont take away from your deck and actually helping its weakness is very nice and super useful. tho once i saw no bog slosher i knew the deck wasnt meant to be good.
