[Legend #4] - Shudderwock Shaman Guide
"My jaws that bite, my claws that catch!"
I hit #9 on EU and #4 on Asia, you can watch the VODs if you want (https://www.twitch.tv/zanananan/videos/all).
kiwiinbacon made a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtuuwhzebLY).
I'm Zananananan (https://twitter.com/Zanananan), the only professional Hearthstone player who has a song about his name. I'm playing for https://www.barrageesports.com/.
I offer coachings for 40,00 €/hour. If you are interested, please leave me a message on Skype (flo.marschner@gmail.com) or Twitter. (2nd hour 30 €, 3rd hour 20 €)
1. General Gameplan
Most of the game is spent trying to outlive the opponent's pressure while drawing cards and trying to find and play combo pieces (Lifedrinker, Saronite Chain Gang and Grumble, Worldshaker).
2. Mulligan Guide
- Prince Keleseth is obviously always a keep
- You want Volcano against Aggro and Warlock, Hex is also good against Warlock
- Lightning Storm and Mind Control Tech are good against Paladin or board flood decks in general
- Mana Tide Totem is super good against Control, Acolyte of Pain is fine too
- Grumble, Worldshaker and Shudderwock are good keeps against Control
3. Card Selection
A few people are playing Wild Pyromancer and Murmuring Elemental instead of Prince Keleseth. You can guarantee the combo with Murmuring Elemental and Wild Pyromancer is better against Paladin. But I still think that Prince Keleseth is much better, stats say the same. I'll show you later how likely it is to succeed the combo without Murmuring Elemental. You can also beat some decks on board, a 3/4 Saronite Chain Gang is pretty good.
A lot of people are playing Hemet, Jungle Hunter, I'm playing Sandbinder instead. I hate Hemet, Jungle Hunter, it's only good in the mirror and Recruit Hunter. You don't even want to play it against Control, it destroys Zola the Gorgon and you can never play it against Aggro.
The Black Knight is probably the most interesting card, https://twitter.com/Zyrios7 told me about it. I think it's super good in this meta. It's obviously great against Taunt Druid but it also shines against Warlock, they play Hooked Reaver, Sunfury Protector and The Lich King.
Earth Shock and Unstable Evolution are interesting cards too. You can cut Lightning Bolt or The Black Knight for it.
4. Combo
Shudderwock has always a chance to fail. You should maximize the odds of succeeding if you like winning. Some of the core elements of the Battlecry combo are Lifedrinker, Saronite Chain Gang, and Grumble, Worldshaker. With those aforementioned Battlecries, Shudderwock will make copies of itself, return to your hand and cost only 1 mana and deal 3 damage to the enemy hero. The order is random.
It's basic math. Let's say you've played 2 Saronite Chain Gang and 1 Grumble, Worldshaker. You only get infinite Shudderwock if a Saronite Chain Gang triggers first, so it's 2/3 to win the game. 2/3 doesn't sounds optimal. You can Grumble, Worldshaker a Saronite Chain Gang to make it 4/5. You can save a Saronite Chain Gang for Zola the Gorgon too. The chance of succes is 20/21 then.
But you can also save Zola the Gorgon for Grumble, Worldshaker. It's 59/60 if you've played 2 Saronite Chain Gang, so that's a lot better if you have the freedom.
5. Tips
You can play Shudderwock without all combo pieces. It's a Frost Nova without Lifedrinker. You can get infinite Shudderwock with Zola the Gorgon too. Sandbinder draws Grumble, Worldshaker.
You can combine Acolyte of Pain with Volcano.
Even Shaman
even - Volcano is really important.
Keep Sea Giant in mind. You only lose if you can't deal with an early Flametongue Totem or Corpsetaker. It's pretty straightforward, try to outvalue them. The Black Knight shines again against Corpsetaker and The Lich King.
Shudderwock Shaman
even - An unanswered Mana Tide Totem can win the game. You also keep Grumble, Worldshaker and Shudderwock.
Whoever plays Shudderwock with all combo pieces first wins. Save Acolyte of Pain for Volcano if you can to play around Hex. They can't play Shudderwock if they have a lot of cards in hand and some minions on board. You shouldn't Hero Power if you are close to Shudderwock for the same reason.
Quest Warrior
heavily favored - Mana Tide Totem, Acolyte of Pain, Grumble, Worldshaker, Shudderwock
You have a lot time because of Healing Rain and your Hero Power. Never play Hagatha the Witch.
Odd Warrior
heavily favored - Mana Tide Totem, Acolyte of Pain
It almost doesn't matter what you do. You only lose if Shudderwock fails, that's 1/60.
Is there any replacement for Sandbinder ? I don't know if it worth crafting, even though I know it can draw grumble.
You could try using Witchwood Piper, but I would recommend Sandbinder because you know you are going to draw an elemental.
and the prob with the Piper is that the Sandbinder can be your Ticket to Grumble but for u
@bestsilenz : i think the only replacement for the Binder was Hemet (so if u have him, than use him or dust him to make the Binder. Otherwise u can try it without this Cards and make 2-3 Testruns)
greetings
You had me dead with the "I offer coaching for $40 an hour. Who the fuck does that. Getting to Legend doesn't make you a high caliber player. It does mean you got a lot of free time though.
Dude, why the salt when people offer their help for cash? I personally think its ridiculous that people tipp €2500,- on twitch to a streamer, but that happens too. Top 10 legend players are a different caliber, because becoming legend is easy, but becoming top 10 on ladder is something else. In that regard, your comment holds no ground. E-sports and even becoming professional gamer is becoming a thing nowadays and some players like help from players like this. If u decide to stay f2p like me, u play more to get cards (my advice: go arena) but don't just throw salt on the table when there's no fish to flavor...just saying.
Hearthstone has such a ridiculously low skill cap that all your arguments are void. I could agree if we were talking about stuff like Dota or Starcraft, but no way for hearthstone
Yes, well @Aeris you're trying to throw sticks and stones based upon your personal opinions, not fact. But if you really think that this games skillcap is so low prove me your skills and post your top 100 legend pic below so i can see you might an glory. Why even play the game or visit it's forums then, ur brilliance should shine in your personal decks and legend skill, no?
#kappa, but seriously
Yeah well, being repetitive is also a thing, so this is my last comment. Talking about "once a guy" is also a based on mathematical equasion. There is always that one guy. Nuff said.
Because when a global citizien with a rational brain nowadays and knowing how heartsone works look at that "offer", the first reaction is to laugh at that young kid claiming 40€ for one hour, a guy who probably never worked in his life, and by the other hand there is tons of guides and information and videos for free that will help you in whatever you need and also is not healthy to pay others when you are bad at something, you are the only who must improve that by yourself.
However I'm a f2p player and I don't pretend blame where people spend his money, I just couldn't be able to speak with people who make those kind of offers.
I dont understand this deck type at all
Its way too complicated
HS should be easy
This deck is fairly easy. You just drop your stuff on curve, and try to draw as much as possible. Thats it, you have shudder in your hand, drop it, and you basically won :D
Does Geist fits in this deck? Likewise as a replacement for black knight and also a good tool against taunt druid.
Some Shudderwock decks actually using Skulking Geist. You could try it.
Yeah man I gotta replace Keleseth with Pyro in the low ranks
I still prefer Wild Pyromancers to handle token Druids, not just Palys, unless those two decks aren't popular in your meta. I hate Hemet as well but still found it worth crafting - with him you don't have to keep high cost cards in mulligans versus control. Sandbinder to me draws Glacial Shard all the time. Not bad as a 5-mana freeze, but not good if you want Grumble quickly.
Replacement for Zola ?
Ancient Brewmaster.
Baleful Banker
Do not include Baleful Banker or you lose the battlecry of Prince Keleseth
I prefer 2x Zap!
