After the nerf hit, Druid has been trying to find a way to break into the current meta. Team Ancestral’s TrickyHunter might just have done that while achieving amazing results with this Druid deck. Tricky has been recognized in Eastern European region as an amazing player with great results and even achieving Rank 1 legend multiple times.
This incredible deck uses Elemental synergy and Spiteful Summoner/Grand Archivist big spell mechanics to create swing turns, and in most cases, win shortly after that. Deck flourishes in current meta. It is heavily favored against Control Warlock and Cubelock - two most played decks this month. It also does well against other classes with positive winrate against all of them and combined getting incredible 70% winrate.
General goal of the deck is to ramp your mana to power turn which are Spiteful Summoner and Grand Archivist and through overwhelming board presence defeat your opponents. After the nerf of Bonemare, Corridor Creeper and Patches the Pirate, Spiteful Summoner decks lost their swing turns. TrickyHunter discovered you can find swing turns in elemental synergy. Blaze Caller acts as a swing turn in place of Bonemare and Fire Plume Phoenix impacts the board in a similar fashion as Southsea Captain. Even though it cost one mana more, it doesn’t depend on Patches still being in the deck and it perfectly synergizes with the Elemental strategy.
In your opening hand you want to see ramp cards, so you want to keep Mire Keeper and Greedy Sprite. You also keep Prince Keleseth and Spiteful Summoner because they give you unfair advantage when played. It is also advised you keep a solid one mana minion for board pressure such as Enchanted Raven or Fire Fly. Against aggro match-ups you are advised to keep Glacial Shard and Tar Creeper if you are on the coin and try to maintain board presence as best as you can. Secret Tempo Mage is one of deck’s few weaknesses, but it’s not impossible to beat it. You are the aggressor in that match-up and need to tempo out your minions. It is also worth noting that Malfurion the Pestilent and its armor-up hero power can enable you to get out of Mage’s limited burn potential.
This deck is SICK!!
This meta I was playing Spiteful Summoner Priest and got stuck between ranks 10-8, that deck was a little bit too slow sometimes.
So I found this deck and decided to craft the remaining cards just to try it out. And man, this is INSANE. I climbed from rank 10 to rank 5 with only one defeat to an extremely lucky pala who spawned my board with his 3/3 divine shielders on T7.
I have never been on the rank 5 before, so thanks a lot! I will post if there is any difference for this deck in that bracket.
I’m playing on my phone so i can’t show you my stats, but in my case the win rate is even more than 70% (20 stars cleared with only one defeat)
Here is the only proof I have
Update. Rank 4 already, the only counter for this deck would be Pala. Everyone else burn like matches, unless RND is super against you.
Yeah, spiteful priest still reigns supreme for this sort of archetype
Grand archivist is never needed for a spiteful deck, he's never value. Run tech cards instead
I only have 1 archivist, so i need a replacement.
Below i could see advise to replace with secret eater and other people suggesting weapon removal.
Doesn't weapon removal hurt that mage enough to make it worth instead of removing the secrets?
At least it can hurt some other opponents to.
Congrats on being the only dude on front page with a legit win rate.
+1
Good deck +1
-1 Grand Archivist +1 Skulking Geist sound good ?
what he's the bads matchs up vs ? cube warlock and decks aggro ?
I hate Grand Archivist in this deck because I keep getting faced by my own Ultimate Infestation
that's not even that bad, you take 5 damage but gain 5 armor and you summmon a 5/5 ghoul AND you draw 5 cards, practically for free. (other than the cost of summing grand archivist)
yep I know that but still frustrating AF :'(
Grand Archivist can hit so wrong in this deck if they are before your infestations in the deck. Having two of them is too risky. Instead you could add a Skulking Geist which will be very handy against Locks, Druids and Combo Priests.
THANK YOU! great deck... only made one change:
-1 Grand Archivist +1 eater of secrets
The double grand is great in some decks but for this one I don't like the randomness that it brings. For example: you play grand archivist and hopefully Ultimate Infestation hits the enemy or his minions (I get unlucky and it's hit my hero in face or one of my minions lol) so you get the draw, Armor, and 5/5 minion but come next turn if the opponent does not deal with grand archivist it leaves you vulnerable to over-drawing :(
In all honesty, I don't own a second copy of grand archivist but I believe the above mentioned scenario can happen quite often.
This deck is insane fun!
Played 2 successive Spiteful Summoners and got two Deathwing ... and the won by concession.
18 to 15 in half hour
really great deck.
i change 2 Grand Archivist with Gluttonous Ooze & Skulking Geist
really funny deck. Thanks for it again this game for me funny and no pain :) and you right good work vs warlock
Is this deck worth playing without Malfurion? He's one of the DKs I don't have :(
What would you recommend as a replacement?
Great deck ! Playing it on ladder, and I am already 14-3 with it on rank 8 ! GJ !
