I like this card, I do, but I'm just curious why it is a mage class card. Deathrattles, dragons and random legendaries are good for almost every class, but they don't really fit in with mage's mechanics, flavor-wise or gameplay-wise. I feel like this would be better suited as a neutral legend, but then maybe it'd be too strong perhaps?
I think blizzard is worried about making Mage too powerful... The current power level of mage is really high ATM so they made this very slow legendary in the XPAC.
Rhonin is a great card for Mage but he just never saw play cause mage is stacked for late game. it already has Medivh, the Guardian,Archmage Antonidas, Firelands Portal, Flamestrike... I don't see where there is the place for an extra 8 mana minion.
On paper Rhonin is decent he has good stats and a very powerful death rattle but yeah he's just too expensive/slow.
Rhonin was a better card that had more synergy in mage decks then this, yet he was to slow.. unless drake mage will be a thing, i dont think it will see play. but who knows...
So you are saying it would be better if it was a, oh i don't know... a Hunter class card
don't loose the hype go golden
Wild Pyromancer is going to work really nicely with Sindragosa. I don't know about the rest of you but I sense a control mage in the upcoming meta?
Control needs stall, heals, ,clears and overall value to be a thing. There's a lot of that in this expansion.
The fact that this is a dragon which could be discovered through different ways makes this one even more powerful.
It looks like a good card for arena and a mediocre card in constructed.. They are trying to create a frost mage deck but I don't think this card could help. Maybe it is possible to use it in control mage decks but I wouldn't bet on it.
If you look at the card in greater detail, as you can see by following the link to Sindragosa on the home page, it turns out the tokens are actually called "Frozen Champions". But... This dragon summons two frozen "Champions". The keyword is bolded, so it would seem to be an actual effect, not a card name. Are the champions frozen, does the dragon spawn frozen champions, or are the frozen champions frozen? You'd think Blizzard of all people would know how this whole ice deal works by now...
Side note, is it just me, or have the requirements for championing gone downhill seriously? I remember a time when a champion might be a 6/6, yet now apparently a 0/1 will suffice.
I think the idea is that the "Champion" is the legendary that is trapped in the frozen ice. While it's frozen, its stats are only 0/1 but once it's freed, you get the full power of the legendary minion.
no synergy = no play in constructed
Anyone mind explaining something to me? I just want to know why JUST the word Frozen in the card text is bold.
It's important cause you can proc all the freeze synergy the mage is getting with those tokens. I'm wondering if in this case the freeze is permanent or if it only lasts one turn.
Nothing about the text on the tokens says they are frozen though, frozen is just part of their name.
A gorgeous 8/8 for 8 that gives you 2 tokens that you can either ping for a legendary or leave to discourage AoE from your opponent. Obvious value in a Control Mage in the place of medivh or you could try a slower N'Zoth focused deck with Pyros as well. I like it and I'm gonna craft it golden if I don't pull it.
Also Prince Taldaram now has a possible place in a mage deck. If you can make a 3/3 copy of one of the tokens that would be pretty sweet.
Easily the best Mage legendary since the Archmage himself. Dragon, N'Zoth, and more welcome her with open arms.
