It's different cards, not minions.
yeah you can even make a libram work if you discounted it to 1
i think the “different” card you can play will reset stage aftern stage.that mean 2 day of school 2 stage complete and this is great
100% It has to or its ultimately a failed quest.
No, it wouldn't be. As it is right now, it's going to be way too consistent and will almost certainly be nerfed. Pen Flinger + 2 First Day of School will complete the quest by itself. Or secrets, or libram after the -1. It'll be very easy to drop Cariel on curve. And that's in ADDITION to an upgraded hero power, which used to require a shitty 6 drop or an Odd deck.
Pen flinger will do shit...u can't bounce it and complete the quest, it's the same card played. They need to be different names.
They only need to be different names for each stage of the quest, because each quest is coded as a separate card there would be no way to track it between them.
You can use one Pen Flinger for Stage 1, one Pen Flinger for Stage 2, and one Pen Flinger for Stage 3.
So, one example of how to complete the quest fully would be this:
Stage 1: Pen Flinger, First Day of School, random 1 drop
Stage 2: Pen Flinger, First Day of School, random 1 drop
Stage 3: Pen Flinger, other two random 1 drops
Entire quest done off a 3 card combo.
Seems like the easiest quest to complete so far. And with all he tools Pala has now for a Dude Deck, seem very powerful.
This feels like old Quest Rogue so I'm quite curious how this one turns out.
do you have to play different cards in the next stages or does it reset?
From what it seems, blizzard has been adding latest expansion cards into duels. If this doesn't see much play in standard at the start, it will see play in wild, and Duels. I didn't do much standard playing this last expansion, but this expansion actually has a lot of potential. Lothraxion the Redeemed Is still in standard till the end of the year. I don't think people remember how much of a problem The Silver Hand (the upgraded Paladin hero power) was. Summoning 2 3/3s with divine shield each turn is pretty oppressive, especially for classes that struggle dealing with tokens.
The biggest thing deciding whether this is good or not is whether the stages remember what you played in the previous stage. If they do then this is nearly impossible and completely unplayable. If they don't then you just put in two First Day of School and your standard 1-drop package and you just cruise. Maybe even run Pen Flinger. At that point the reward seems good and all you're doing is just playing Paladin normally (but starting with a Quest in hand, which is a minus)
Definetly run Pen Flinger, if you fit it in a Libram package:
At first glance it seems kinda week. Restricting the deck-building and the reward is not good enough.
So the reward is amazing its a 2 mana get two 3/3s that you have other cards that interact with them like the Legendary that gives them divine shield for the rest of the game. Along with buffs the 3 mana card corrupt summon 5 of them to summoning 15/15 worth of stats for 3
Blizzard tricked us all, thinking they had nerfed First Day of School
It completes a step of this quest in a package on its own. Ridiculous.
First Day of School[/card] nerf wasn't a nerf
I'm actually mad that the first reward is to equip a weapon, very anti-synergistic with Sword of the Fallen and the new 1 mana weapon
The correct way to look at this quest reward is: Jaraxxus. Because that's what it is. 2 mana get 6/6 in stats (only it's spread across 2 bodies, which with cards like Conviction is arguably better for paladin anyway).
and all you have to do is play a bunch of 1 mana minions (not even 9 of them because of First Day of School) honestly seems pretty solid to me.
EDIT: Bounce Cariel for extra greed, lul.
SECOND EDIT: Oh, I forgot about Pen Flinger. That card has had some synergy in paladin before, right?
Final edit: pen flinger only works if each step in the questline forgets the minions you played in the last step (so can you play 3 different cards, progress to the next step, then play the same 3 separate cards?) if it has to be 9 completely different 1 drop cards, then pen flinger becomes MUCH worse. However, secrets still work, because it says CARDS, not minions, so that's neat.
