Old Card Backs Returning
An oldie revisited! Ben Brode has confirmed that bringing back old ranked card backs is something they'd still like to do one day.

Build Your Own Deck Brawls
It's been a few weeks since we've seen a brawl that is anything but a deck building challenge, which leads us to ask, what do you think about it? Do you prefer brawls where you have to build decks, get a premade deck, or get a completely randomly generated deck?
Yong Woo says we'll be seeing some "super cool pre-built" brawls soon.

Well said ;P
I wouldn't be for them bringing back old card backs. I think they should stay unique to the people who got them and not be made available to everyone. It just takes away from knowing that you've played for so long to have all the different card backs. If I saw someone who just started having the season 3 card back , it would just cheapen it. That's just how I feel.
I would be cool with card backs returning, but they would have to be more difficult to get. Perhaps they can have and additional back reward each month for a higher rank, say 10 or 5. Something less people can reach regularly but it will drive some of them to become better in order to get the backs.
I really hope they bring back the Pandaria card back it is the one i really want more than any other card back, i would pay gold, real money or even use dust to get it. I did play during the first season but i had no idea about card back rewards until after and i saw everyone with the Pandaria card back.
Love it
I would generally prefer to build my own decks with interesting deckbuilding parameters and special rules to make it interesting
I have no problem with Ranked Card backs coming back, IF they also make the harder or impossible to acquire backs like Power Core and Golden Celebration available for myself and others to acquire in a somewhat easier way. I have all the Ranked backs and all the other ones so those ones are what interest me.
I think Blizzard should not bring back old cardbacks.
I myself dont have any blizzcon cardbacks and also not the pandarian cardback and yes i would like to have them but now you can see from your opponent when he has the first cardback ever that he is playing from the verry start of HS.
This will go away when you bring back old cardbacks and i would not like that to happen.
Plus i just love the fact i can have something in the game to show off that others just cant get. :)
Since the Winter championship will not be in standard mode, we will not see the next expansion until April...
I don't want old card backs (only the BRM preorder), I want good card backs !! the lasts ones are very poor
Totally agree with you!
Bringing back old card backs only cheapens what the people who set out to get them originally had to do to get them. I have set out to get every card back I possibly can. The only one I can never get is the Blizzcon 2014 back (was on a financial protest at the time, due to the Tespa card back). I'm ok with that, that's my fault and I can live with it.
Now what's the point in trying to get to level 20 each month if we can just get the card back in the future, with gold, money, or otherwise. I have driven 100's of miles to attend a Blizzard event just so I could get the card back for that event. Please don't cheapen our efforts to collect every card back.
It is sad that some players get into a game late, but why should they have some way to be rewarded for the work long time players have made? Some of us play every day so we do not miss anything in game. This just rewards those who cry because only now, they see how much fun HS is and regret not getting in to play the game earlier.
I never troll and I try to stay away from the main comments you always see on game forums, but what I'm about to say fits perfect...
Why should all the cry babies get what they want!
I started playing WOW right when BC came out and missed out on a lot of cool stuff. I didn't go crying saying " I WASN'T AROUND THEN BUT I DESERVE TO GET THAT STUFF"! Monthly card backs are just that, a card back for reaching level 20 that month of that year. Not something for late comers to cry for and get.
"Will previous season card backs ever be obtainable again? A few new friends like collecting but discouraged from missing many"
Honestly, what is even the point of wanting to collect all card backs. You only need one you actually like. What are you going to do with a complete collection of card backs, show it to all your friends and watch them lose their shit over how awesome your collection of Hearthstone card backs is?
I wouldnt rly care about old cardbacks being availible again for ppl who just started to play now or whatever, but didnt they say that they wanted the cardbacks to be more of a unique reward? to kinda make players that they played those months/years feel "different" from others? Im not 100% sure, but i think iv read it somewhere and if that rly is the case, it is yet another statement/policy they r changing (or want to change) ... they rly should stop saying one thing and do another in couple months apart :P
I don't understand why so many people like random brawls.
Yes, it is true that constructed brawls are somewhat unfair to players with small collection. Yes, it is true that after some time (especially at higher-win "league") a lot of people starts to netdeck.
But in my opinion it's still lesser evil than having absolutely no control over what's in your deck. It's like saying "hey, I don't care, just give me something I can vomit on the field". You can't even plan anything. You don't know what's in your deck or what's in your opponent's deck. You literally just throw whatever the game gives to you on the battlefield and hope for the best, without any win-condition or synergies. How can anyone enjoy this random-fest?
It's why I don't like Unstable Portal. It's the same principle - "here, have 2 mana and give me something, I don't care what". But in case of Portal, it's understandable since it has some good Mage synergies and the chance of something useful is better then something bad.
I've never played random brawl more than a few times (most of them just for the pack). On the other hand, some of the constructed brawls were so much fun for me I achieved the 30 wins per day gold limit in them.
Can someone explain to me why is it so appealing to play with random cards without any plan? I know people enjoy different things, that's why I'm asking. I just don't see it. No hate, please.

Sorry for bad English. Not a native speaker.
I love random Brawls and pre-built deck brawls because Tavern Brawl to me is my fun, casual mode that I complete quests in or just muck about in. I don't want to have to think about optimising deck creation to earn my pack and keep winning, I want to be able to drop in, pick a class and have a roughly equal chance of winning as my opponent does, depending on RNG in some cases or who can play better in others - eg Too Many Portals! vs Decks Assemble!
It's just not fun to me to have a mini-constructed mode with a different OP deck that you'll always end up against for 90% of games while you try and have fun with a deck. Some of the more balanced ones are alright, but for the most part it's just a more dull, one-deck-heavy constructed mode, which is not what I'm looking for. As examples, my least favourite Brawls of all time were Banana Brawl!, Heart of the Sunwell and Miniature Warfare, whereas my favourites have been Decks Assemble!, Captain Blackheart's Treasure and Randomonium.
For me, playing without a plan is exactly the experience I think Tavern Brawl should provide. You already plan in ranked and arena, hell, even in adventures. But Tavern Brawl is (in my opinion) supposed to provide a different experience. And a fitting experience is the moment to moment gameplay of Hearthstone. You press play and neither you nor your opponent have much of an idea what you're playing. This means you have to think quick on your feet, especially if there is maybe a turn based random effect as well like: "Oh, suddenly this card costs only 3 mana, how does this now change my play for this turn?"
Randomness also keeps the experience fresh, as each game is completely different and you see many otherwise unplayed cards interact with each other. In pre-built brawls, even with a big twist on the game, the powerful cards often still remain powerful and you see a lot of the same, especially after a day or so when the meta settles.
But that's just the appeal of the randomness. Pre-built decks were voted highly here as well, and one of the major appeals there that is also present in most random brawls is the low time investment. You simply don't have to (or can't) think much about your deck, you have to hit play and just... DO IT! :P
The reason is similar again, you already think a lot in ranked and arena, in brawl you just Hearthstone and chill :)
Simple. Complete and utter random madness is FUN!
I already have plenty of salt when playing in ranked. To me, brawl is the go-to mode when I think to myself "I just want some fun!"
That's why I absolutely love the "All your cards are Unstable Portals" brawl or Decks Assemble! and Randomonium: I laughed so much with the constant craziness in the battle field.
Also, it gives us a chance to play with something entirely new, like Ragnaros vs Nefarian! I loved being able to use those cards, or using boss' hero powers! Brawl is the best when it's 100% chaos!
For me, 'Build your own deck' is just too much effort for something that only lasts a week. I just end up building a more or less random deck after about 30 seconds of thought.
I can imagine it could fun for someone with a bit more time for this game than me, though.
