Hi all. Just dropped by to say thanks to everyone who gave some advice on this thread. After a couple nice streaks I'm currently sitting at rank 9 full stars on a win streak. Played Spiteful Dragon Priest and Secret Mage to get there. Ended up crafting Aluneth. Totally worth it, won me many games!
Thanks for all the helpful comments everyone! I've been sticking with Spiteful Dragon Priest on the ladder for the past few days. Using MunrowPS's version (linked above) with Stonehill Defenders instead of Tar Creepers. Currently at rank 14 full stars. Hoping to at least get to the rank 10 floor this season so that I only drop to 14 next month.
Just looking for some deck advice and guidance. I'd be happy getting to rank 10 on a consistent basis. The occasional rank 5 would be a bonus. I recognize that any decent deck can get to rank 5 if played long enough and consistently but have a bit of deck ADD and I haven't found an archetype that really gels with me.
Lately I've been jumping between Spiteful Priest, Zoo, Secret Hunter and Secret Mage. I enjoy Spiteful Priest the most but sometimes I wish there were more FAST deck options in this meta other than Paladin.
I know I just need to commit to grinding out 30 or 40 games with the same deck to see some ladder advancement, but I'm curious about what other casual players are having success with right now.
Freeze Mage is a hard deck to play well, but when it works the wins are VERY satisfying.
Personally, I find that I have a lot more tolerance for losing on the ladder with Freeze Mage as opposed to any other deck. So I suggest to just keep playing it and don't worry about the losses. Remember too that once you get to ranks 15, 10, and 5 you can't go lower. So there's some extra incentive.
The other thing I would agree with that's been said here already is that if the majority of decks you're facing are control warriors, try something else for a bit. However, the new on-curve, mid-range quest taunt warrior isn't as tough as pure control warrior. So don't just auto-concede :)
I've been having a lot of fun with this deck. I think the current meta favors it simply because most players are trying out the quest mechanic and most games go longer than the typical aggro and midrange games. I think there is enough stall and draw in this deck that it's ok to rely on Alex and/or Tony to finish the game. Of course there will always be pirates and rogues who finish their quest by turn 4, but they seem to be the exception lately. The gylphs really help with Antonidas...

Thanks bickel. I'll give that a shot. Named it "Spiteful Egg White" in my decklist :)

Looks like fun. Just hit the rank 10 floor so I'll give it a try.
I have Chameleos. Should I swap out a Curious Glimmerroot for him?

Thanks everyone! I think I want to try sticking exclusively with Spiteful Priest for my next 30-40 games on the ladder.
Is secret/tempo mage worth playing without Aluneth? I subbed in an Arcane Intellect when I was playing it.
The other lesson I've learned is NOT to do quests on the ladder. Hahaha!

Thanks all.
I don't have Aluneth but I'd rather just play a different deck and save my dust for the next xpac.
I like the idea of putting Medivh, the Guardian in Spiteful Dragon Priest. What would you sub out? Maybe Grand Archivist?
Combo dragon looks interesting too.
I've always enjoyed playing elemental mage like the one below, but it doesn't seem to do well in the current meta.

isn't that 2 words?

I'm using a similar deck. I like the idea of Medivh with Ultimate Infestation. Do you find that only one Innervate is enough?

TheTekCraft's advice is spot on.

One of the best written guides on hearthpwn. Thanks for your efforts. You've refreshed my interest in Dragon Priest!

Yes, so with N'zoth, Patches, Bloodsail and coin. You could have a 2/4 weapon and 3 pirates on turn 2. Huge tempo!

gonna try this with -1 Malkorok and +1 The Curator

For those playing this deck, are you playing aggro style or tempo style?
