posted a message on Carpet priest - got to legend with it!

Interesting. I was thinking the other day "why does only Warlock play Magic Carpet?" and this suggests it has potential in other classes as well.

Is Archmage Vargoth reliable enough? The majority of spells in this deck are targeted, so it seems a risky play unless the opponent's side of the board is clear.

Would Crystallizer work in this deck? It has good stats for a 1-drop, improves with Lady in White and it ensures your hero is damaged, to have an extra way to buff Lightwarden.

posted a message on Do you consider this BM?

It's only BM if they take an unnecessary amount of time to do it. Otherwise they could just be happy to finally get their dream combo off or add a few ticks to their quest. If you don't have the patience for that, you're free to concede, but no need to be bitter about it.

posted a message on Should i make mech hunter?
    Quote from Tuscarora87 >>

Actually, Mechanical Whelp  / Nine Lives / Oblivitron version is weaker then the faster Flark version. It's too slow for the current meta. You're just a sitting duck against Rouge. This can change if we get better early defensive cards or they nerf Rouge. But, right now, Flark's Bomb (mech) Hunter is superior, because it's more proactive and can react faster vs. wide boards and Rouge. Although, Rouge is still a tough opponent due to Sap.

I'm still encountering more Warrior than Rogue, but it's possible Tempo Rogue players have just climbed away from my current rank (14/15).

posted a message on Should i make mech hunter?

In general I wouldn't spend dust on commons, instead get some packs from the gold of your daily quests. Since you'll often get 4 commons per pack, it doesn't take long to get the majority of commons.

As for Mech Hunter, the variant that is strong at the moment runs Mechanical Whelp, Fireworks Tech and Nine Lives. That deck is a mid-range deck; the variant you describe sounds more aggressive and I don't know how strong it is.

posted a message on Anyone get their free packs from HCT world champ?

I got one Classic pack this morning (EU). There was an alert in Twitch saying that I had gotten a pack and when I logged in to the Hearthstone client it told me a pack was added to my account outside of the game.

For people who are confused: this is not "Choose Your Champion", but a separate promotion for people who watch the championship on Twitch and have linked their Blizzard and Twitch accounts.

posted a message on META TIER LIST IS OUT!!
    Quote from Kaladin >>

in a surprise to no one, VS confirms what we already knew.

Mech Paladin at tier 1 is a surprise to me. I haven't encountered it on ladder myself and have seen very little of it on streams either. Maybe it hasn't caught on yet. It seems very vulnerable to silence, so if becomes popular and people tech against it, its win rate may drop quite a bit.

The rest is indeed mostly as expected, although I expected Mech Hunter to be tier 2.

posted a message on Priest since the rotation of Dragonfire potion and Drakonoid OP

Priest was still fine with Shadow Visions and Psychic Scream, but now that those have rotated as well, it is struggling.

On the other hand, Priest decks take longer to figure out than most other classes, so maybe there will be a strong Priest deck after all.

posted a message on Regarding Warrior

I think the Dr Boom hero might be a bit too strong for this lower-power meta. Mechs with rush act as additional removal and since more mechs can be generated from Assembly and the hero power, that is a lot of extra removal on top of the already strong removal options that Warrior has in the core set plus cards like Warpath and Supercollider.

Even with Token Druid, you can go all-in versus a turn 5 Brawl because you have ways to reload, but once the Warrior switches to Boom you're unlikely to win, since it becomes nearly impossible to stick a wide board. And you do need a wide board, since the Warrior will be building up his armor, so you can't get a lethal burst with just 2 or 3 minions like you can versus other classes.

The Hunter DK showed that with enough value generation, any amount of removal could be overcome, but a lot of people didn't like that aspect of the old meta. Although I personally liked the old meta overall, I am glad that it didn't last forever and that the new meta feels very different. But the Dr Boom hero feels like it was balanced for the old meta...

Apxvoid is still in high legend, so Mage cannot be that terrible. I guess you just haven't found the right deck yet.

posted a message on Mecha'Thun priest ROS

I think the Voodoo Doll would die at the same time as Mecha'thun, but the Experimenter's death is triggered by the Doll's death and therefore will happen in a later pass of deathrattles going off.

Edit: If I'm mistaken about there being multiple death passes, then it should work as long as you play Voodoo Doll before Mecha'thun, since the order of deathrattle triggering is the order of play.

You need Force of Nature only if you want to play a Treant synergy deck; Token Druid can be built without it and might even be stronger without it. I'm using Explodinator to put 3 minions on the board, for example.

I'm currently playing a token druid deck that uses the new portal spell, so I have very few actual minions in my current version.

I was wanting to build a second version, maybe without the portals that was more based around treants and actual minions that have battlecries that give me more stuff. (so like microbot controller and the new dude that gives you scrolls, I forget his name) I've already built a couple of versions of these decks in theory.

I'm just trying to decide whether to invest more in druid stuff to play more variations of the deck, or to instead get some cards for a different deck. (I already have enough to play all the current rogue decks as well, so it's not like I'm hurting for things to play).

You can run any number minions together with Crystalsong Portal, as long as they are not expensive or situational. The Portal is there to refill your hand; there is no need to cast it when you still have minions in your hand that you can play.

Force of Nature is in a weird spot between the more flexible Landscaping and the higher-value The Forest's Aid. If you want to invest any dust into Token Druid, I'd suggest Wispering Woods over Force of Nature.

In any deck with a significant number of overload cards, Thunderhead is great. But I don't know if there are enough good overload cards. I felt that before the rotation there weren't, but the bar is lower now, so maybe.

posted a message on opening packs order discussion?

It doesn't matter for your chances of getting epic or legendaries, if that's what you're wondering about.

You don't have to use all your gold to buy packs now: you'll probably get some dust from the Hall of Fame rotation, so you could decide to open for example 100 packs and craft the things you're missing. I generally open packs until I have most of the commons and rares, then 5 packs at a time until the next legendary.

posted a message on Rise of Shadows Patch - Full Notes, Free Card Backs, Free Archmage Vargoth, Shadow Bundle

Anyone found good uses for Archmage Vargoth yet? So far I've used him with Seance for extra value, which is nice but not really enough reason to put him in a deck.

posted a message on What's going to be your first craft once the Expansion Releases

Since the solo adventure comes with packs, I don't want to craft too many RoS cards until I've opened those. So my first craft will probably be a Year of the Raven card that goes well with the RoS cards I opened on launch day.
