Ok so I submitted my Battleboar (he's now a 5/5, thanks for feedback), but I didn't realize there was a character limit on the lore secton. I thought with "You can write more than your 300-character limit in you submission post if you like", it meant it could be however long I wanted, but I guess that means you can write to the usual limit and then an additional 300 characters?

Um... I guess I have to shorten that down, because 1,2k characters do not = 300 characters.

While I do that I'll leave the whole story here so that it doesn't go to waste:

This young orc could never seem to be able to leave the Valley of Trials, where most orcs begin their adventures. He was nicknamed "Battleboar" by the other orcs the Valley of Trials, which they said was to honor his battling skills, but really it was because they thought he would be battling boars until the end of his days. They were wrong. One day when Battleboar was sent to Sen'jin Village in order to help the Trolls with the battle against Zalazane (he didn't do any battling, he just carried supplies and such), he found out about the raptors that the Trolls had domesticated. He was very fascinated by them, and it was then he decided what his true destiny was. He had never tamed any beast before, as he was no hunter, but he realized that he wouldn't need a bond with the dinosaurs. What he had been doing his whole life, battling with boars, was exactly what would help him get these beasts under his control. He would beat them until they followed his commands. After Zalazane was defeated, Battleboar began to battle the raptors of the Echo Isles, but they were weaker than he expected and most of them died. The Darkspear trolls didn't like what he was doing, because he didn't give the beasts any respect. In the end, he was banished from Durotar, from where he began his journey to Un'goro Crater. There he would find even bigger dinosaurs to break, not as weak as the lowly raptors the trolls used. And eventually, when the time is right, Battleboar will have his revenge upon the orcs that had mocked him, and the trolls that had banished him.

Don't forget, you can always put Bloodfen Raptors in your deck for additional synergy!

Edit: Shortened the lore. (you can read the full lore here... if you would want to for some reason. Which you obviously would want to, it's about dinosaurs)

Battleboar had a rough time leaving the Valley of Trials, fighting boars for days, hence his name. But at one point he discovered the might of dinosaurs, and he decided to break them to his own will. He went on a journey to Un'goro Crater, where he was going to find the greatest dinosaurs and use them to get revenge on the orcs that had mocked him in Durotar.

Hey, I know I already have won a competition, but is it okay to like... enter the contest anyway? I think they are fun, which is probably the biggest reason I entered them anyway. Anyway, I'll try to give some feedback because I never really did that before :P

@ACinJC (Izana the Transformed): I think I get it! It's like tribal effects in MtG right? Like, if you choose Murloc, have a Murloc Tidecaller and use your hero power it gets +1 Attack? It's a creative effect in that case, but... it also seems very odd to use. I guess Mech would be a pretty good choice, mostly because of Mechwarper, but that doesn't really fit the druid theme that well. I would suggest narrowing it down to a single type, then the theme would be a lot clearer and also its wording wouldn't be as confusing. For example "Your hero power is considered a mech." But then again... it wouldn't have that many synergies. It's probably too weird. While I'm writing this I have read your newer post, and if it works with stuff like Cogmaster and Goblin Blastmage, then it's a bit better but still kind of in a weird spot. I don't know.

I will give other cards feedback as well but I'm kind of tired right now so I'll do that at a later date (maybe I shouldn't be making such statements when I'm tired but oh well). Here's an idea I had anyway:

I just looked at this art and realized what I had to do right away. Battleboar was a character I had in wow, a lowly level ~10 Orc Rogue scrub (I deleted him at one point though, rip). Anyway, I got some memories of a troll thread I made with him on the wow forums when I was... well, younger. The thread was about how to get a Devilsaur mount and it was a pretty bad attempt at trolling, but it was a bit fun anyway. So he's basically an Orc who really likes dinosaurs. The art didn't really represent a Rogue though, so I couldn't make him a Rogue, and also it isn't a Hunter which would make sense thematically... so I just said heck, lets make it a neutral. Also, a note: I wanted him to summon King Krush when you have a Devilsaur, but really that seems like way too much text and you wouldn't even get to that point in most cases. Would be fun though, but then I think I'll have to shorten the text in some way.

Yeah, u can definetly enter again, why not :)

I think u might make this card 5/5 easy, it is so conditional (one specific card in entire game) and even more u have to use your hero power. So its extremly conditional and if u want a "Turn 9: 2-card + hero power" combo for 3/5+3/2+5/5 i think that it is quite slow and im not sure who would even play this, maybe beast druid or some control hunter?:) Cute idea tho ;-)

btw if u have 2 raptors do u get 2 devilsaurs? i think u should get just one (at least from how u worded it) ;-)

You only get 1 Devilsaur if you have 2 Raptors. And I was thinking that maybe his stats should be lower in case you played a Bloodfen Raptor from your hand, then used Hero Power. But yeah, it's still a very specific combo, so I guess I could make the stats better. But should it be a 5/5 or something more defensive? Maybe 3/6 is good enough? Thanks for the input anyway :)

All right, here's my first attempt at a card. Mostly, I started from really liking this particular artwork.

Originally, I was going to make it a druid card, but I think the effect has too much potential to allow only one race to use it.

Am I using the right term? I was about to use "tribe" but then remembered that's MTG terminology.

Any thoughts on the stats balance, OP potential I'm not seeing or other changes I should consider?

    Thanks!

    ACinJC

It is such a weird card that it is kinda hard to understand. Your's is by far the most "out there" card in this thread. But I'm not actually sure what it does or how it would work.

Ah, I should probably explain more, then, so it can actually be evaluated.

The idea is that the battlecry would allow you to permanently apply one of the "race" keywords to your hero that are normally only on minions. So, for those cards that key off of a particular race word being out on the board, this could trigger it. (For example, if you selected to apply the "Mage" race to your hero, it would permanently trigger Cogmaster to be a 3/2, and Blastmage could trigger with nothing else on the board).

Aaand, as I'm describing that potential use, I'm realizing just how powerful that effect could actually be. Hm... what about making it a 3/3 for 5?

Yeah, but all the interactions seem sorta wonky. Like does Murloc Warleader give your Hero +2 Attack all the time and +1 Maximum Health?

If you picked murloc as your race, then, yes... but keep in mind the inherent risk that could potentially entail - dying instantly to a Hungry Crab.

Oh, I read the card as "Give your hero power a race keyword". Which was very weird. But ok, now it makes more sense. Really more sense. Hehe. Yeah I think it's fun, but I would still narrow it down to one race probably.

posted a message on New Priest Card - Confuse

I acctually think this has potential, for those Priest combo decks. I've tried to run Crazed Alchemist in a deck like that, but it hasn't really worked... but this is acctually a lot better since you can get so many targets.

Think about the double Flying Machine dream!

    ...

Ok but for real it has potential probably. And if it isn't good, it's still a fun card. And don't forget that Tournament Medic guy~

Edit: And oh right! It will probably be fantastic together with Lightbomb and Cabal Shadow Priest!

The card seems really overpowered, but I really like the theme xD

Maybe if it only destroys minions with cost 1 or less, that would signifigantly lower the power of the card but also make it more niche. Maybe have it cost 3 or something in that case. Or you could make it a bit bigger with a lot higher mana cost, but since minions with low cost will not be played as often late game it might become pretty bad. I still wonder then if battlecries, like BGH, would still trigger?

Edit: Just edited my train of thought there a bit. Don't want to make the card bad after all.

Mmmh for your Wastewander Jouster I presume you speak about the ennemy minion just revealed? Because this is not exactly what you wrote on the texte card ^^ .

No I meant your own card, although it would be hillarious to just take the opponent's minion xD

The thing is that taking cards from your opponent is kind of distruptive, Blizzard has said (I think) that they wont make cards like that. Some decks rely on one or more minions, and taking away one of those with rng would be kind of rude :P

And with the theme, I know it makes more sense if a bandit kidnaps the opponent's jouster, but you know bandits can't always be trusted... xD

    Oh, and another card:

Look, it makes sense because he either asks for an assistant when he becomes inspired, or a test subject! Not really, um, that good but... it combos with the Ethereum Smuggler and also it's pretty funny :)

posted a message on A card idea for Rogue and some other TGT cards

Okay, I don't really have any opening words, so I'll just get straight into it.

I've had an idea for a card like this for quite a while now. The only problem is that it didn't really fit in well with Rogue yet, even though the mechanic was very flavorful. I mean, there were cards like Trade Prince Gallywix and Gang Up, but an epic to only synergize with two other class cards would be kind of weird, right? Well, now there's Burgle, and I think with that this card is in a pretty good spot. Of course there are some neutrals to synergize with it as well, such as Chromaggus, Ysera, Nefarian, Gazlowe, Spare Parts... and Lorewalker Cho maybe? Then there's also the new Nexus-Champion Saraad, although I don't know why you would want to use Inspire as Rogue :^)

I really like the new joust mechanic. It seems like something with great potential, but we don't know yet if it acctually will be good. Anyway, I stumbled across this art and was like "I like turtles!" So I decided to make it into a joust card! I'm not sure if it makes a lot of sense thematically, but I guess it could be the rival of the Gadgetzan Jouster or something. And since it's a bandit, it kind of makes sense to like snatch up people, maybe you could kidnap a recent winner of a joust and get some ransom for it? Um, anyway, the card guarantees to draw a minion (if you win the joust), but your opponent also sees what card you get and can therefore prepare for it. So it's pretty balanced. I definetly think Blizzard will make a card with this effect, but probably different cost/stats and theme though.

I acctually made this card before TGT even was announced, but with TGT this card makes much more sense! It practically prevents your opponent from using their hero power, unless they have some trick up their sleeve, but it's an interesting counter to Inspire nonetheless. I don't know what more to say about it to be honest :p

Anyway, I hope you liked the cards or something... leave a comment if you have any thoughts :)
(btw I have more card ideas but I don't want to overload all of them, I might make some other posts or something)

Now we only need a rogue card like Master Smuggler or something, that makes cards from outside your deck cost less.

It's time to bring out Deathwing to the aggro decks! Ok maybe not but at least Sea Giant.

Anyway, I really like the idea of this mechanic. In an aggro heavy meta, control decks can take great use of it, but when up against other control decks it becomes more of a gamble.

I really hope it ends up as a good mechanic and that it helps slow down the meta.

This card in specific seems good in a control-aggro matchup, but the drawback on Zombie Chow isn't that big tbh... oh well, might see play.

Yeah, 8/3 should be valued at 5 mana. At the moment there are no 8/3's though, but think about Salty Dog and Stalagg. They are both 7/4's, which is 8/3 if you do +1/-1.

If you're playing Control Hunter with your hero power as the win condition... maybe..?

Nah, probably not, but I wouldn't say it's totally off the charts. I mean, Necrotic Aura was a pain in the ass.
Or maybe that was because it was 0 mana in Heroic.

Hm... it could be really good if they added something with an effect like "Your Hero Power summons more powerful totems." or "Your Hero Power can summon ANY Totem."

Otherwise... not sure if it's worth it to be honest. 6/3 for 6 is pretty bad, and while the effect is nice... it doesn't really do much. Unless you can summon multiple of the same totem, then it miight be playable.
