Soggy planks, water - I was reminded of Vashj'ir, the underwater zone in WoW Cataclysm. But some kind of troll/jungle connection could also work I guess...

posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 8.11 - Final Poll

Only voted for Tiny Golem and Magtheridon this time. All the other cards are either crazily OP (Mecha'Zoth, Bloodmancer, to lesser extent Amplification) or have the high cost just kind of stuck on to the design to fulfil the limitation. Having said that, I like the theme of Memorial Day and Leatherworking.

Tiny Golem - simple yet elegant, can imagine that getting played, well-balanced.

Magtheridon - I like how to be able to play him, you have to end your previous turn on low health - that creates danger, makes it a bit risky, and a 5/9 lifesteal taunt, although a great minion, is not game-breaking.

posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 8.10 - Final Poll

Lots of great entries this time. A lot of the cards have interesting limits to your deck the beg to be tried out, a lot of the cards would be fun to play on their own accord, others have interesting potential despite no obvious ideal use. The ones I voted for:

Medivh - strict limitation that severely weakens the deck, but intriguing potential. Can you find one spell that is worth starting out with, even when it means having no other spells? (and Spiteful Summoner is useless in the deck).

Coin Flipper - promises a fun rogue deck, combo with spell damage minions, but not OP.

Imp Mother - makes demon decks more viable, solid and balanced card, although it is not as interesting as other entries.

Flark's Final Spark - lovely flavour and versatile potential. People just connect it with Goblin Bombs and think "meh", but various deathrattle uses could be envisaged. The future potential is also big. One of my top favourites.

Puppetmaster Marigold - reasonably limitation (Paladin has good legendaries, so it is a bit of a blow), balanced power and effect, promises fun shenanigans with random 1/1 legendaries. Overall wouldn't make a strong deck but would be fun.

Escape Reality - great flavour and fun potential. I always liked the Shaman evolve cards. The effect is comparably strong with other quest rewards, the requirement is pretty hard without evolve, but easily manageable (various transform cards can also be used, like Furbolg Mossbinder, Hex counts). Another top favourite.

Kryll - seen this card before, liked it then as well. Limited application as a lot of Mage's spell-generating cards are also spells, but with a few additions (or perhaps an amendment of "if your deck has no more than 2 spells"), it could work and again offers a fun, fresh build-around experience.

Prince Arthas has great flavour and art, feels a tad weak... My feeling would be to give +1/+1 to each version.

I also like Egg of Ysera and the Happy Little Cloud :-)

Awesome OP! Thanks for the hard work, will come in handy :-)

Just a note on Shaman, The Storm Bringer: you write "Storm Chaser only draws Bloodlust." But surely it can also draw The Storm Bringer...?

Some of you guys have really weird tastes, a lot of the art mentioned seems pretty decent or even pleasantly aesthetic to me :-)

I agree with stuff like Brainstormer or Soul Infusion

posted a message on Mecha'thun poison seeds suggestions

Does Mecha'thun trigger with Poison Seeds? So it checks for the fulfilled requirements before the treants are summoned?

As for consistency, if you could ensure your cards getting drawn perfectly each time, the deck would be broken :-) If you want higher chances of getting the draw going, look to add more card draw... Coldlight Oracle, if you don't care how much your opponent has...?

posted a message on For those of us who spent $130, I have a question.

People compare the price to physical card-trading games like Magic and think it's a good deal. Physical card games have physical production costs, distribution costs, retailer costs/split profits (and TCGs are probably overpriced because they exploit the human desire to collect)... But HS is actually a computer game (with "unlockable" content), in which case it's paying $130 for let's say 80% of an expansion that "lasts" just 4 months before requiring another purchase to have the complete game... For me, that is beyond ludicrous. I'd actually say it is immoral to put up such a price compared to content/value/costs even if the market allows it.

I don't mean this as a bash at anyone who pre-ordered, I know you weighed the cost/benefit ratio and made a informed decision based on your circumstances. You're welcome to do so and I hope you get good cards in the packs and enjoy the game and experimenting with all kinds of decks etc.!

posted a message on The Most Disappointing Cards Leaving the Game

I have actually used Master of Evolution in my Evo Shaman deck quite a lot (admittedly not Tier 1, but I'm just naturally attracted to less common/popular decks - which is also why I usually stick around Rank 10). I also have one copy of Menagerie Warden in my Jungle Druid to copy the 12/12 legendary dinosaur, which has won me multiple games against control/jade decks.

But otherwise I agree and especially agree with the sentiment in the OP. Such wasted potential - esp. the Grimy Goons imho :-/ An honourable mention for me is the hunter quest (although I know that isn't rotating out).

posted a message on 5 Miracle Moments from the HCT Summer Championship

Although the highlighted moments are connected to luck, a lot of them wouldn't have helped without skill. An incorrect use of Anti-Magic Shell could have allowed Tom60229 to make remove or make some elementals. Also, in that match Tom60229 played his cards pretty poorly in the second half, in a sub-optimal way, which lead to him being out of resources at the end.

Conversely, Surrender beating Omegazero by avoiding the Unleash the Hounds was a moment of pure skill.

Sometimes the RNG sucks, but certainly not always and it certainly doesn't mean that a high level of skill isn't required to make use of it.

posted a message on New Druid Legendary Card Reveal - Hadronox

I couldn't find any hard-proven testimony that Hadronox does not summon back a taunted C'Thun. So I tried it out and I can confirm - playtested - that Hadronox does not re-summon C'Thun.
