It's being run, sometimes. I see it in every 1/5 non-zoo decks, maybe. At the beginning of wild, I had one in all my decks.
My friend argued that Kezan Mystic is better, and I finally agreed with him after being stuck with one-to-many limp Eaters in my hand.
Paladin, Mage, and Hunter make up 50% of matches in Wild (personal salty estimate) - you need secret tech. Mystic has so much more value than Eater in almost every single game.
Why do some shifted minions come into play with a +2 enhancement to attack identified as "Retribution"?
I've seen it at least four times. Today I played a 6/4 Millhouse and a 7/6 Pit Fighter. Oh, and there seemed to be a Druid symbol on the identification banner, like a big claw.
Brawl For some reason Warrior had to have the most efficient single minion removals in the game as well as the most efficient board clear as well. Your only hope of getting through Warrior's Trueheart (TM) Armor while having one to two minions a turn summarily dispatched is by spamming the board with multiple minions. Except that you can't, because a 5-mana spell can unconditionally destroy all of them. Even though I hate Priest's "I remove and/or steal everything" deck, at least his board clears are based on damage, not on simply erasing everything. And at least Priest is limited to 30 health.
Speaking of Priest, Cabal Shadow Priestis the too-often unsung heroine of tilt. "Let me CHANGE your mind if you thought you had a chance of winning." 6 mana is such a "steal" for the decisive swing that card can provide.
Getting 3 2/2s out on the second turn, 5 if you have coin and correct draw, gives you amazing tempo. Counters 80% of decks out there, meaning Mage (2/2s trade against Mirror Image and Apprentice, 2/2 plus hero power trades Wyrm, Swipe kills Flamewaker). If Grizzly isn't instantly removed and you get weenies from your portals, you will probably just steamroll.
Another tip that hasn't been mentioned by everyone else: Slow. The fuck. Down.
I've seen so many opponents misplay and lose the game just because they didn't take the time to think over it. Quick example: Opponent playing a Deathrattle minion, then an Unearthed Raptor, in that order within 3 seconds of the turn starting. "Mistakes were made," alright.
Check and recheck your move, consider other options, then execute it. It seems so basic yet I've encountered many opponents who do this.
Isn't that the correct order?
1. Play Deathrattle minion
2. Play Unearthed Raptor to copy the previously played minion's deathrattle.
Remember, it's also important to slow down before you hit "Post Reply."
Of course Standard is going to make F2P harder and harder. Honestly, if you're going to play HS seriously, you should make a basic financial investment to start, like you would with countless other games. I'm talking less than $100. You'll speed up your win rate dust accumulation greatly. You can have fun and advance over time by earning the rest in game. But yeah, totally F2p is very painful.
I started playing in December and have only spent money on the adventures and few Arena runs. I started with the online newbie decks featuring the Naxxramas cards and gradually increased my collection. January I ended at Level 19. February I ended at Level 15. I started buying GvG with my in-game gold and crafted Dr. Boom once I got 1600 dust. March '16 I ended at Level 14. I switched to buying Classic packs along with Arena runs. My collection has just drastically expanded. I'm still missing many staples, but with a bunch more cards under my belt, it's like an entirely different game. So many more options, and so much more power.
I decided to ladder with Rogue this month. After failing with Oil Rogue, I netdecked a Raptor Rogue deck and have easily just hit Level 11. After consistently hitting a ceiling of Level 14/15, Level 11 seemed impossible. It's only possible because I collected the dust to craft two Piloted Sky Golems and because I got two Defenders of Argus in packs (also thanks to the deck author, although I tweaked the deck a bit because I wasn't willing to spend dust on Classic cards I was missing now since I'm still getting packs).
I'm having so much fun with all the card combos, I will definitely be playing Wild because I don't want to lose the cards I've only just started playing with.
The frustration that newbies and F2P players feel is real. I remember resenting players that always had Dr. Boom and Emperor Thaurissen. (I still resent players who have multiple crafted Legendaries in their deck.) There may be some decks like Face Hunter and Zoolock that only require crafting a few rares to be competitive, but in the long run, you've got to get a collection. Choke up the money for the adventures, and start splitting your gold on Classic packs and Arena runs.
This brawl is not fun. 95% RNG. 5% skill is to know to mulligan Call Pet.
I've played multiple opponents who, on top of getting great minions on curve, also get a suite of removal spells on curve.
When I win, it's because my opponent actually had worse luck than I did.
Maybe the RNG would be interesting if it led to multiple to swings throughout the game, but games never swing more than once, if at all, by turn 5 at the latest. At that point it's obvious who's going to win.
This brawl is very fun. I started off with Warrior, which was okay, but didn't work that well, and then moved to Hunter with Flares, weapons, and traps. Very successful overall except against Druid and Paladin (had to add Explosive Trap especially for Paladin).
After an epic Hunter v. Hunter match, I was down to 9 and he pulled out Ragnoros on an empty board. Unfortunately he was at 4 and I had Dart Trap and the favor of RNGesus. I guess he didn't have any Flares left. Had to "thank" him for the game as he was dying horribly. I guess all that dust you got from the packs you bought so you could craft Ragnaros didn't save you, did it?
I also built a Shaman deck on my boyfriend's account that was really successful and fun to play. Weapons, Feral Spirit, burn spells, and totems (and Lightning Storm for Paladins :-( ). I showed him Totemic MIght was excellent for this brawl! Those poor mages just have a horrible time burning through the totems when they've got 2 or 4 extra life and the Healing Totem is there, too. Poor mages! I'm shedding a tear.
Horrible brawl. KT is way better, except when I get him in which case I get no early game minions and Rafaam has the full staff by turn 5.
The games take way too long. It’s obvious by turn 6 who is going to win, but then it just takes forever to get there. I guess they thought that people were earning too much gold from tavern brawls.

Wild is also overrun by zoo and face shaman. Forget casual to test new deck ideas. 80% of your opponents have one of these four openers:
1. Tunnel Trogg 2. Totem Golem
1. Coin + Totem Golem
1. Possessed Villager
1. Flame Imp + Coin + Voidcaller

OK, here's a slightly different deck that does very well:
2x Innervate
2x Living Roots
1x Addled Grizzly
2x Swipe

In any case, it's a lot of fun.

Yes, if you are only in the top 2% of Hearthstone players on Wild you are obviously not average - you are indeed a very bad player.

Decks I've used successfully against minion-flood decks:
Innervate/Druid of the Claw; Elven Archer/Tentacle of N'Zoth; Explosive Sheep/Fireball; Explosive Sheep/Gorilla A-Bot; Equality/Tentacle of N'Zoth; Tunnel Trogg/Lightning Storm
Explosive Sheep and Tentacle of N'Zoth are strong counters to the minion-flooding decks, but I haven't seen anyone else playing them.
Also against Bolster decks: Stonetusk Boar/Mark of Ysaarj; Stonetusk Boar/Cold Blood
Against Mill decks: Stonetusk Boar/Cold Blood; Grimscale Oracle/Vilefin Inquisitor; On the Hunt/Timber Wolf. With these deck you're happy to get more cards!
Other combos that I've won with: Stonetusk Boar/Evolve; Blood To Ichor/Kor'kron Raider; Backstab/Defias Ringleader, Bladed Cultist/Bilefin Tidehunter; On the Hunt/Timber Wolf; Voodoo Doctor/Hellfire; Darkscale Healer/Hellfire (one time against Bear Trap/Ram Wrangler - basically the perfect counter); Mana Wyrm/Mirror Image; Mind Blast/Power Word: Glory; Stonetusk Boar/Knight of the Wild (against bad decks); Revenge/Frothing Beserker; Glaivezooka/Unleash the Hounds
I don't know how to win against Ice Block decks.

Explosive Sheep + Fireball deals with Mech decks.

I'm really stoked about this nerf since I just opened a golden Arcane Golem from my tavern brawl pack.
