JosarHearth posted a message on Fel ReaverPosted in: Fel ReaverMages seem to be playing this a lot now, but I still don't think its that good. People will defend this card, by saying it can cycle through bad cards, but really no card in your deck should be bad, and this thing can cycle out your fireballs too (two fireballs can be a great turn 8 finisher). It's also not always good against aggro, as aggro cards are a lot cheaper, and its possible to play 5 cards in one turn. Soft control is another issue, such as aldor peacekeeper and freeze effects. No of these issues are, usually the real problem though. The real issue is even though its a 8/8 on turn 5, its still just a 8/8. Control is not just about big cards, but big cards that are hard/un-ideal to get rid of, or cards that make your opponent play differently.

ScaryKoolaid posted a message on TGT failed to slow down the metaPosted in: General DiscussionFirst of all, I don't really think Tempo Mage or Hybrid Hunter are actually "Aggro" decks. They tend to be more mid-range based. This is kind of one of those classic "is tempo aggro or not?" questions I guess, but I would argue the answer is no. Yes, they both tend to want to play with fast starts, but that's because they want to get the early advantage (i.e. gain the tempo- hence the name) and then incrementally eek out more value than their opponent until they can close out the game mid-late game. Tempo mages typically run some package of Dr. Boom Sylvanas Windrunner Ragnaros the Firelord Flamestrike - these are NOT cards that would ever really be in an "aggro" deck where you're really looking to top your mana curve at 4-5.
Second, your sampling is rather anecdotal, especially considering it's day 1 of ladder when a lot of people run "fast decks" to try and grind out wins faster than your slower control decks. You're also talking about 18 games which is particularly small. I've seen a lot of aggressive decks too, but I've seen plenty of control/mid-range too.
Third, at the start of a new season you're much more likely to go against people who don't have as much dust, which typically means cheaper decks. Decks like Mech Mage, Facehunter, Aggrodin run very few rares and epics and often no legendary minions. As such, they tend to not only be easier to play and more inviting to newer players, but they also have a much lower dust requirement and thus less grind/wallet stress.
I think the real meta litmus test is when you hit rank 5-Legend and this past season in that range since TGT dropped it felt dominated by Secret Paladin, Control Warrior, and Dragon Priest. That's pretty slow. -

Sparhawk1523 posted a message on Enter the ColiseumPosted in: Enter the ColiseumI tried playing Enter the Coliseum in midrange paladin a little, and found that it just doesn't fit.
Enter the Coliseum is compared to Brawl, but there is a major difference: class play style. Warriors tend to have little-to-no board presence in their early game, running weapons, card draw, and armor gain, allowing them to throw down a mid-game board clear with little-to-no downside for themselves. Paladins have strong early game, and are hoping to be ahead by mid-game. If they're ahead, a mirrored board clear in the mid-game is terrible. If they're behind, they lose a full turn to play a board clear that doesn't remove the biggest threat, leaving them insufficient resources to deal with it.
This card is only good if you have exactly 1 minion on the board that is better then their best (rare), or if you combo this with removal (costs 9 with Aldor), which is just too slow in the midrange paladin lists.
What it means: This card needs a new deck (I'm thinking control paladin that plays a lot more like warrior) or it's not worth using.

Akorthus posted a message on Justicar TrueheartPosted in: Justicar TrueheartThis card is great, I have no idea what you're on about.. Its so good for control, Sure the stats are trash but that's not what you use it for. It'll at least get a 1 for 1 in most situations even if they darkbomb/wrath it. The buff to the hero powers are so significant. It makes control warrior and midrange paladin so strong, I haven't tried it on the other classes yet. It gives you so many options, i think the shaman and warlock ones are kinda sucky but the others are really sweet.

A lot of potential here. In a well-crafted deck, it might just make the difference. Including dragon priest

Is it really worth having it? Just got this from a pack and I'm not sure if I should keep it. Granted, it's a fun card but not much more than that.

Really fun card, hence, it feels more 'gimmicky' than actually part of a sound 'constructed' strategy. It can work well in combo: think ofFencing Coach,Garrison Commander or Maiden of the Lake. Ultimately, it probably won't make it to the top tier of legendary cards since the Inspire mechanic hasn't been a success. Lots of fun though!

How about Rhonin here? Seems ideal to me

You ought to be doing card-reviews, not bloody Trump

What happens if you have two minions (or more) with the same attack? I had one case where I had a 2/2 and a 2/3 and the 2/3 stayed. Not sure if it's random or not
