This would probably get rolled over by aggro decks, a Risky Skipper package could help. Scalerider and Sword & Board might do a bit of work early game but it's not going to be enough. Magescribe is too slow, Boom Squad is just a bad card. In the late game, you might get a crazy Kel'Thuzad turn once in a while but not consistently. Big fan of the Troulemakers though. The deck might benefit from making it Highlander to add some win conditions.

On paper at least, my take is that the armor value of Molten Breath, flexibility of Shield Slam (can just be weenie removal) and potential of Pen Flinger shenanigans and/or turn 1 Gan'arg will help the deck control and sustain the board early on as well as the aforementioned and that it will be enough against aggro.  The obvious downside is that the removal is all single-target, but if there's consistent single-target removal going on then ideally AoE won't be optimal as often anyway.  You're probably right about the Magescribes; although it'd be a pity to give up on them the obvious alternative would be Evasive Wyrm which is a nutty version of ye olde Argent Commander.  I think one could replace the spellburst synergy entirely with a few more other dragons and dragon synergy cards if the spellburst isn't good enough of a payoff.  We'll see how it goes or if further revealed cards break any archetypes.

Highlander is definitely an option here too!  I'm glad I picked the free Mage deck haha.

The fact that you potentially get to pick between a clutch lackey and a big dragon is a really big deal.  Some games will demand more tempo, others more midrangey-control.  Triggers spellburst as well!

I'm so happy they're finally giving Warrior good midrange cards.  It's been so long.  I will play this card into the ground, even if it gets nerfed to 9 mana.

posted a message on How many packs are you gonna buy for Scholomance?

I have no gold as I played absolutely zero during Descent of Dragons and Ashes of Outland and won't spend any money (I just bought the 40 packs and 2 legendaries deal for returning during Ashes of Outland).

That being said, I'm sitting on 11k dust so whatever legendaries/epics I want on day 1 past the first 10 packs I'll go ahead and craft them.  Furthermore, I'll look through my old collection and if I see any epics or legendaries that will never see play in Wild I'll go ahead and DE them.  I'm looking forward to playing a lot this expansion - it seems super promising!

posted a message on Demon Hunter is now balanced KEKW

What I'm content with is that no Soul Fragment-generating cards are particularly aggressive.  Even the 1/3 isn't crazy in the setting of being in classes that don't naturally have wide board buffs.  This basically ensures that there can't be a Face Warlock/DH deck.

As for the OP's curve, it gets clapped by any non-Earth Elemental taunt minion.  It matches up well against Warlock's new 5-mana 7/8 Soul Fragment card at least LOL.

I'm glad the aggro deck is forced to have some healing in it, making for more of a push for a hyper-tempo orient.  This is gonna be my kind of set!

posted a message on How the hell does Warrior beat Priest??

For what looks more like a midrange deck, you need to increase the quality of your curve.  Replace one Bladestorm with a WW for the sake of Battle Rage, Bloodboil Brute and cheap weenie removal.  Also replace Deathwing and Alexstrasza with something more immediately assertive - heck, this is a Bomb deck, right?  Throw in two Clockwork Goblins!  You could even fit in some Transfer Students instead or as well!  And these are some pretty good battlecries; throw in a Barista Lynchen too!

Tell me any thoughts you might have!  I love crafting budget decks for expansions haven't played in a hot minute - let me know if there's any deck that obviously clap this!

posted a message on Scholomance is shaping up to be one of the best expansions ever

Despite how awful the public reception of Gadgetzan was I LOVED playing the expansion.  Every good deck had a unique angle, a clear motive and obvious strengths and weaknesses.  Singleton decks were beyond fascinating; Reno and Kazakus made them incredibly robust and able to play out just about any curve decently well and every game they were in was different.  The only win-con deck was Jades, which required a deck chock-full of Jade cards and showed them as early as turn 1.

My only gripe throughout the whole expansion was that Pirate Warrior was too luck-based; it could either draw the stone cold nuts or Patches and no curve.  Other than that, Gadgetzan was one of my favorite expansions of all time.  If Scholomance even lives up to THAT for me (not even WotOG) then I'll be happy, especially if any decks can be crafted on a budget.

posted a message on New Card - Headmaster Kel'Thuzad

The fact that there are so many Warrior spells that clap single-target cheeks makes this a staple for the class.  The fact that you can trade your board into a big thing, play this and then finish said thing off with something as weak as Slam or Sword and Board is highly appreciated.  The fact that this card will probably get nerfed is imminent lol.

posted a message on Seriously Blizz? THIS is the best you come up with to keep Shaman in check?

To be fair to Slurper, it was a really consistently good class card in a class with traditionally wonky and bad class cards.

Blizzard took my money from Blitzchung.

Shoulda just banned him.  No reason to withhold pay for the person who won the tournament fair and square.
