posted a message on Psychoanalyses of the many mindsets of Hearthstone players
    Quote from MProdigy >>

The try-hard player in Casual mode: This is the player who net decks tier 1 decks in casual.  The typical responses are 'I want to try a new deck", "I want to grind wins for gold", "I need to complete quests with classes I'm not great with" or "I don't want to lose my ladder ranking".  The first one is understandable, as experimentation in a CCG is a wonderful way to grow as a player.  The problems are with the other excuses.  Similar to the Jade Druid player, a false sense of superiority is likely the mindset.  Netdecking a tier 1 deck in Casual is laughable IF you claim to be trying it out.  If you've established its tier 1, its a solid ladder deck, therefore play Ranked.  Getting "easy gold" is also a subpar excuse.  If you are indeed a "Legend Player" as so many people falsely claim, they why are you grinding for gold? Everyone needs some gold, but a true Legend Player can make due with just about any deck.  Losing rank of the ladder is also a pathetic excuse.  The reward differences are negligible, so that excuse doesn't hold up.  Who cares if you lose rank? If you are truly the great player you think you are, then you can easily overcome a few losses.

This whole paragraph is just your biased opinion. Who made you the ruler of who and how one can play in 'Casual'? Casual does not equal Clown Fiesta. If the gamemode said 'non-ladder' instead, would it be a bit clearer for you what the mode is meant for? Cause that's what it is.
If you truly want a casual game, whatever that is in your mind, try friendly battles. You and your friend can come up with whatever rules you want and duke it out. If you however play 'casual' for the gold, then expect competition. Whatever reason there is to play ladder vs non-ladder is up to everyone to figure out for themselves. Throwing everyone who play the mode with a good deck in one category is so narrow-minded.

Sorry I didn't mention it but I meant once the fight was started.

So you can resume if later? You are asking too much bro.
     Yeah, I guess so.
After all, it was a feature already available in games of 30+ years ago, and Blizz is notoriously a small indie company.
We are talking about Team 5, Mr. Sarcasm. They are lazy as f...k, and you should know that already.
We might have been talking about gathering community support for a feature request, Mr. Nice Guy.
Lazy as Team 5 may be, every now and then they listen.
They only listen when the request is about to hit the news and this is not the case.
    Fixed that for you.
The ability to resume games is already in the game (disconnects). There should really never be any lost dungeon runs due to inactivity. It should have had an autosave like every other games they have ever made. We know they know how.

posted a message on Is Hearthstone Pay to Win?
    Quote from Velrun >>

    Quote from Velrun >>
    Quote from FakeNorwegian >>

Just quoting a guy i found on the bnet forum.

I personally use this definition: "If a game has a PvP element of any sort, and if you can use real money to buy any kind of advantage, then the game is P2W".

DOTA2 for example is not P2W, as nothing you buy has any actual impact on the gameplay.

HS is P2W, because people who pay money can get good cards more easily and thus have an advantage. For example, I have the priest DK but no Raza, I have the evo Shaman but no Doppelgangster, I have no other DKs nor a LK. All those are disadvantages, that result in worse decks. If I would pay money, I could acquire all these cards one way or another instantly right now, improve my decks and thus my chances of winning.

So for me i think its p2w. Just met a guy in rank 19 with 7 legendaries completly destroyed my jade golem that took me 2 weeks to make with dust and opening packs.

     You misunderstood what he said.
You cannot pay to gain any kind of advantage in Hearthstone that you cannot also get by grinding. If you want all the cards, play more.
It has been proven time and time again that HS is not P2W. A really strong player can take a brand new account and only play without paying anything and take it to Legend in 2 months.
This is just wrong, especially if you aspire to play in tournamants, you cannot keep up by grinding, you have to pay.
But that has absolutely nothing to do with pay to win :)
If a really strong player (like a Pro player) can take a new account to Legend in 2 months, then HS is not pay to win. You just have to be really good, have a little luck and a lot of time.
If you are not good, then you won’t reach legendary even though you pay a lot.
Legend is not the bar of which you measure if the game is pay to win or not. There is always a higher tier. Constructed HS is pay to win. It's just not only pay to win, skill matters as well.

posted a message on Darkness/Grand Archivist Bug or Intended?
    Quote from Anyammis >>

After a little bit of thinking, this may actually not be a bug. Grand Archivist's text reads "At the end of your turn, cast a spell from your deck (targets chosen randomly)." It could be possible that the card cast on the wrong side of the board to trigger your Darkness. The only way to find out is if you tested it with two players both playing the Darkness and one playing a Grand Archivist though. I currently have neither card and can't afford to craft them "for science" so unfortunately it's up to someone else to spot check this for us.

In your previous post you mentioned that candles only works on either side. This seems to be the most natural explanation. So it's no bug, just less than ideal feedback on what is happening.

If expansions weren't so frequent and gold weren't so scarse, I'd say it is not P2W. But given that you can never get everything with gold (except arena) it is very much P2W. Doesn't mean it is not possible to get great results without paying of course.

Playing well in the arena can give a lot of gold and cards even for F2P players. However, if that is what you spend your time doing, then you don't need the cards in the first place, so I'd say Arena can be F2P. Constructed can not.

posted a message on Darkness/Grand Archivist Bug or Intended?

    • All of the creator cards says "When drawn, do X"
    • All of the token cards says "Cast this when drawn"

Judging by these two sentences, should the token cards work when casted manually or via Grand Archivist? Let's consider both options.

If token cards fizzle when manually cast; the text on the token cards are untrue because they don't do what they say. The text on the creator card which only mentions drawing is still true.

If the token cards can be cast manually; the text on the token cards become true. The text on the creator cards are still true in this case, since they say what happens when you draw them, and does not specify that they don't work by casting them.

If any of these token cards fizzle, either by manual casting, or via Grand Archivist it has to be a bug.

    Unless...

I don't know if the three candles are player specific, and whether Grand Archivist can target either player's imagined candles...

posted a message on Poll: Would you like to see this Dungeon Run format become a permanent, expansion independent, single-player experience?

I think it actually is so good that it should become the new 'new player experience' model.

The 10 cards you start with lets new players have something familiar that they get to know really well. Then you get introduced to a few cards at a time; repeatedly playing with the same cards with a very nice pace. It's great for learning both to play, as well as building decks. Not ladder decks naturally, but you still start to see what goes well together, and what does not.

The only silly thing with dungeon runs is that there are no rewards. When my nephew learned that there were no rewards for beating a dungeon he just couldn't believe it. He kept asking if I was fooling him. A little gold for some of the later bosses as well as the ability to do normal quests in dungeons would be good in my opinion. An appropriate amount of gold would be slightly less than average laddering, to avoid people feeling "forced" to do dungeon runs as they seemingly were afraid of.

    Quote from KungFuMaster >>

I cannot believe people are still defending this card. Sure, it's not terrible if you insist on tieing your hands on your back and stop using mininons. However, To My Side! is not what makes spell hunter shine. Emerald Spellstone, Eaglehorn Bow and secrets are the important ones. Swap out a few unimportant spells, and have a secret hunter instead. Then you can actually evolve the deck with the meta instead of staying this one same deck that is bound to disappear as soon as everyone is playing something solid.

To My Side! got some time in the sun in the beginning because Blizzard bludgeoned us on the head with this 'new archetype', when the archetype is actually just a narrower variant of a secret hunter.

You forgot Flanking Strike. It's actually pretty decent if you think about it. 4 mana 3/3 deal 3 damage to a minion is pretty strong. It's actually a combination of a few new spells that makes this archetype so playable. Wandering Monster is another minion that is hidden in a spell.
Yes, Flanking Strike is a strong card. You are also right in that an 'all spell hunter' is playable. Quite good, but it is going to be less and less so the more the meta evolves.
What I'm saying is somewhat nuanced. To My Side! is not weak in 'all spell hunter'; but it is a weak card because 'all spell hunter' cannot adapt to the meta, and because it is completely repaceable by other equally or more powerful cards. Only Rhok'delar saves it from not being played at all.

posted a message on Blizzard to Update Deathstalker Rexxar to Include New Beasts
    Quote from MikeBZ >>

the main problem as  i understand it is the length of the card text over several regions. since the combind text of both cards needs to be shown and the card text varries in length from language to language. if it fits in english but not in spanish do they not include the card  in the pool at all or only in certain localizations etc. it just opens up a lot of possible annoyances down the line.

Oh, I understand that was their original reasoning. However, the claim that "the combind text of both cards needs to be shown" is what has to be revisited. To future proof it, they will have to come up with a different way of conveying the information of a zombeast that doesn't require a custom card for each comination. Making sure every combination fits inside the text box will become increasingly unwieldly over time, as the number of combinations does not increase linearly with beasts added.
My favorite solution is to have a special card art and keyword for Zombeast, where the two orininal beasts are displayed side by side when you hover the card.
I am sure Blizzard will find a solution that will suffice. One that takes a bit of time now, but doesn't require upkeep in the future.

Instead of hardcoding every single combination of beast, they now have the opportunity to future proof it by making something dynamic. If they do it right, with proper rules, they shouldn't have to touch him ever again.

But now, with the silent lockdown of Deathstalker Rexxar to Frozen Throne Beasts, noway i am gonna spend any resource on Hunter!

DK Rexxar is fancy and all. Powerful but very inconsistent. Now with an increasingly narrowed set of options, inconsistency is bound to grow.

    (...)

While I am also very disappointed with Rexxar's treatment, an increasingly narrowed set of options will in turn increase consistency. If consistency is what you're after, Rexxar is gonna get more of it.

I actually think everyone should be able to have all the cards at the end of an expansion (even F2P, and at the very least those that pre-purchases). Whatever is required for this to happen is what I want done to the game. I suppose what I'm saying is that those that spend loads of money on the game should get more gravy than just golden cards...

Sorry mate, but stupid and sarcastic comments like this one don't belong to this thread. :)
Nothing sarcastic about my comment. I don't think it is too much to ask. They just need more ways to earn money than to nickle and dime regular cards that should be available to everyone.
