Do the expansions play out like a HS adventure? Like rewarding users for completing solo content? I'm a sucker for that stuff. Also, does the game currently (or planning for the future) have 4+ player fun modes?
While one of our previous expansions is constructed like this (advance through a campaign vs unique bosses to unlock cards), or latest expansion does not. It's possible we could create more of this in the future, but Fall of Everlife is strictly 40 new cards to build decks with.
Hey, atmaz I just have a couple of questions about the game!
1. What sets your game apart from games in the same genre such as Hearthstone and gwent.
Well the biggest difference has to be the fact that Faeria takes place on a board. Just by having the board alone makes Faeria a much different game from more traditional card games. You could argue it is more of a turn-based strategy game than a digital card game - but it certainly has elements of both.
But it's not just a board, it's a living board. That means players make each map as they go. On that same board there are important areas to control called "Faeria Wells" that add to your resources and allow you to play more cards.
Finally, there is the Power Wheel. The Power Wheel gives the player a choice each turn to either create land, gain Faeria, or draw a card.
Put all of this together and you have a game where every single turn you have thousands of potential lines of play. The job of the player, of course, is to filter out only the best of those lines of play and go with one they think puts them at the best chances of winning. The end result is that you should feel some sense of improvement or learn something after every game you play that helps you next time.
2. Do you see longevity in this game and do how long into the future do you think you would be supporting it game with expansions, I would love to give it a go and if I knew you would be rolling out expacs I would be more then happy to give it a shot!
Starting this summer we're committing ourselves to monthly content. It's a big change for us, but we have every intention to continue supporting our game in such a way for the foreseeable future.
3. Is your game's community active, for example would I be able to find a game fairly quickly when searching?
Queue times vary during the time of day, but most times you can easily find a game within 2 minutes - often much less depending on your ranking.
4. I know you work very hard on getting an Esports scene considering you offered prizes to the winner, Does your game have a ladder system and arena system so a Hearthstone player like myself could ease into a new card game.
Yes! In fact, our seasonal ladder just reset today. We have official rankings at our esports page here, but the list is just about empty due to today's reset.
5. Not so much a question as me saying good luck with your future, all the best, I'm sure you'll do well considering you are talking to the community! I'd love to give the game a shot as it seems like a breath of fresh air!
Are their any plans to add an App store version? I'm going to check it our regardless, just curious.
This question keeps coming up a lot. I've answered it earlier but it's buried by now and just in case anyone missed it:
We are strictly PC now. At one point we were developing for and supported mobile clients, but unfortunately the extra development load this creates was seriously slowing our progress. We do develop on Unity and a lot of people assume it's as easy to click a button to port to different platforms, but mobile in particular is a huge horse to wrangle and we have a very small development team. Satisfying the requirements of the Apple Store when developing new features/account structures in particular can be very taxing, let alone maintaining the app as functional. In the end we chose to make the PC client as good as we can possibly do and direct all focus there.
That isn't to say that Faeria won't appear on mobile in some form in the future.
Question: How many classes can you put into a deck?
You can put all four colors in a single deck.
There are no classes in Faeria - but there are 'colors":
Red - Mountains
Blue - Lake
Green - Forest
Yellow - Desert
So for instance, you could put cards of every single color in your deck. In order to play them, however, you'll need to create the necessary special lands. This means you'll need to have a plan how you're going to get all done, and there are a lot of cards that help you do it.
Just a fair warning to those who are going to look into Faeria it should be noted the very slow speed at which content has come out to this point. It's been nearly 2 years and the game has only had 2 expansions (one released in the last month mind you) that have given us new cards. Now that would be fine since the company is quite small but we have other issues that for me soured the game to an extent.
Hey, I know it's not really a question but I'd like to acknowledge the feedback.
The gap in new cards for 2018 is something we weren't happy with - which is why we're completing changing everything. We're committing ourselves to monthly content additions. This means we've released 20 cards last month, 20 this month, and even more the following months. Not every expansion will be 100% cards, but we totally recognize what problems a lack of new content can create. Just commenting here to say that we definitely plan on releasing more things, more often - starting last month.
Thanks again, Atmaz, for the post. While I'm going to be focused on HS with the new expansion coming out, I absolutely will give Faeria a try. Been watching some vids and Twitch players. Looks like a great game (I actually like the fact that it is a slightly slower game). As someone commented, it looks like it can live alongside HS - similar enough to interest people like me, yet different enough to be its own thing. I wish you and your dev team much success!
Man, I was also first introduced to the game by the late, great TB years ago. I found the concept fascinating and the aesthetic to be gorgeous. Kept up with it haphazardly over time (didn't have a laptop to game on), and was overjoyed when it finally came to mobile (for some). When my phone wasn't compatible, I sent an e-mail to the devs along for clarification, and they got back to me in a couple hours, explaining that it was only available in another region and prospects didn't look good on it being widely available. /sadfacegif
I am happy to report I now have a laptop for gaming, and definitely want to give Faeria a long-awaited spin. It looks like this is a solid directly for the devs to take the game, both from a business and a developmental standpoint, so good luck.
ETA: This is a nice move and a good look on HearthPwn's behalf, hosting and encouraging this thread, and it's much appreciated. I for one, didn't know about a lot of the game's features and mechanics that I've learned in this thread.
I'm glad to see that this game is continuing to grow! I played it a bit in beta but haven't gone back in a couple of months. I really enjoyed the overall UX to the game; clean, easy, and presented really well.
I have never posted in this forum but I actually logged in to comment.. this game looks pretty awesome I am for sure willing to give this one a try. I like the idea of some of these mechanics. very interesting!
looked at some videos and saw the mana farming thing in the lateral sides of the board and i have a question, Is the board set in stone or are there any plans to add boards with different layouts and different objectives?
I decided to get it after all the comments here. I've only played a little (has a very helpful tutorial system that gets you up to speed) and I have to say so far: I LOVE it! I can see why some others made the comment that it's could definitely live alongside HS and not be considered competition. Going to play it some more and will post additional reviews/discuss my experience playing it if anyone is interested.
