This was a good place to post about this, as I had not heard of this game before. It looks very fun, and I might just buy it and start playing it on the side. Hearthstone will always be the #1 card game for me though :)
Was this a free to play game at one point? I didn’t realize the game cost loot. I’m not complaining, I just wasn’t aware and I cannot justify spending the money if I cannot try it firsthand. Here’s hoping I can get a key so I’ll stay in touch with this thread
Yes! We did go F2P at one point, but have recently completely changed our model. Instead of having to buy tons of card packs, we made it more of a one-time-purchase with very accelerated collection gaining, supported with monthly content in the form of DLC. The goal is to make it so you don't feel compelled to spell hundreds of dollars in order to play all the decks that you want.
And my last question. What does Faeria reference to or what is it’s meaning?
Good question!
Faeria is a universe created by four best friends (the founders of our studio) many, many years ago. It's simply the name of the world that the card game takes place in.
There's a lot of in-depth lore involved, much of which is shared in-game through the card art and our most recently introduced 'lore pages', which give an idea of how the universe operates. However, much of the story behind Faeria remains open for interpretation and the truth behind it is revealed by us in bits and pieces.
Thanks for the reply dude.
I actually just watched the 2 hour video of the late TotalBiscuit on YouTube of him showcasing the game. This looks refreshing definitely to say the least. I plan on becoming a pro. Real talk!!
I've tried a number of card games recently, many of which I've happily thrown cash at. My biggest digital spend has just been both preorder options for HS. As such, I'll be out of the spending-cash-on-digital-cardboard boat fot a couple of weeks.
That said, Faeria does look interesting. Have gone through bouts of loving hexed based board games. If it's on the house, I'd happily give it a crack. If I enjoy, will most likely purchase future expansions.
Do the expansions play out like a HS adventure? Like rewarding users for completing solo content? I'm a sucker for that stuff. Also, does the game currently (or planning for the future) have 4+ player fun modes?
I have been play some card base game, like hs and gwent but this one looks promising. It seems interesting and challenging at first glance, if i got the chance i'll definitely try it.
QUESTION 1: How does the expansion work? Do I only play players who have it or do I continue to play against anyone with those additional cards?
QUESTION 2: How does XP work? What's the value of having the double XP bonus?
PS - Thank you for making it Mac friendly :)
1) The matchmaking queues group everyone together, DLC or not. However, we have intentionally designed our card base to where you should not need any DLC to be competitive in any way.
2) You get XP for pretty much any game that you play. Single player, multiplayer, it doesn't matter. The actions you do in game reward you XP at the end, and with every gained level you earn a full Battle Chest (card pack.) Doubling the XP with Premium version makes that process twice as fast, but there are still many other methods of increasing your collection such as Daily Quests and crafting.
Thanks for the replies. Been checking out reviews and you all have lots of positive press. Good for you! I'm glad to see you have moved away from loot crates and just made it an upfront purchase.
Are their any plans to add an App store version? I'm going to check it our regardless, just curious.
I’m bumping this for nothing more then I think this is a game that doesn’t get enough recognition. I’m intrigued after 2 days of watching some twitch streams and YouTube vids. I think the single player stuff is phenomenal and a good way to become familiar with the game while gaining cards etc... I honestly feel like I’m gonna be making this something I invest more time in as opposed to other games I play now. Everyone should give this a try wether you play it or not. It’s refreshing and I haven’t met anyone who dislikes it
Faeria is a great game, and it's not getting the attention it deserves.
This makes me wonder how much people actually want a casual game where skill and experience really matter. Or maybe it's the map? I don't know.
I think most people like games of skill but with casual games I think its more so they want something that is quick as well. It can be hard to balance a game for a casual playerbase but also make skill and experience mean something since you want people that play 20 mins a day as well as people who play 6 hours a day.
I first got this game after watching Trump and Kripp play it. Fantastic game with a lot of strategy. Amazing art/theme. I'd consider on par or even better than Hearthstone. It looks very simiar to Hearthstone, but the dynamic of the game is quite different, in a good way. It's a very fresh experience.
I don't recall ever seeing a bad review. No idea why it hasn't got much attention since its release.
Just a fair warning to those who are going to look into Faeria it should be noted the very slow speed at which content has come out to this point. It's been nearly 2 years and the game has only had 2 expansions (one released in the last month mind you) that have given us new cards. Now that would be fine since the company is quite small but we have other issues that for me soured the game to an extent.
The 2 most prominent issues to me are the overpowered cards that do get released and the lack of any cards that really change how the game is played (new archetypes pretty much). The first expansion they released (Tree of Everlife) had many cards that needed to be nerfed several times over the course of a couple months since they just went into pretty much every deck or were just so broken in power level that once the card got played the opponent pretty much just lost. The other issue is that very few cards have really pushed players to make new decks that haven't existed since the launch of the game. Even though the latest expansion has brought some decks to be relevant in the meta they already existed to some extent beforehand.
Now I don't hate faeria, in fact I still enjoy faeria and still play it on rare occasions. However the reasons listed above have caused me to fall out with the game since to me it's just been playing the same decks for over 2 years now while every so often putting in a new card or two and making the deck slightly better.

Seems pretty interesting, would love to try it.
My favorite part of card games is playing themed decks, so if theres a lot of those I'll probably spend money on it to get started.

No keys went out yesterday? Probably was busy.
I'm curious to hear if anyone has tried the game? I see a few people have and said it's a gem that should be discovered. Anyone else?
I saw kolento playing this game before, it looks interesting
I'd love to try Faeria out

Are the next 3 winners! Will be sending keys via PM.
Will also be catching up questions shortly. Thanks everyone!
Question: How many classes can you put into a deck?
