I'm using this method of deck/winrate tracking since sesaon 15. Currently last sesaon I had very litle time to ladder and I didn't get legend, so I only got to rank 3 so below is my stats from rank 17 to rank 3. I hate 3rd party deck trackers so I'm posting this to show you my method of old school tracking ^^
On stats where I achieved legend, I have separate stats for Rank xx-Rank 5 and Rank 5 to Legend.
Does anyone doing this method of tracking like me? :D So...no more talking here it is:

Wouldn't an Excel worksheet be better? You can even set formulas to count the W/L ratio in real time. I mean sure the alt+tab thing is a bit annoying, but I am used to playing games in window mode so that I can alt+tab to game sites or other programs.

but i think its way more important, to see against which decks you win and lose, that way you can tech your deck rather then just knowing the overall performance
if you tech in an Aldor Peacekeeper to counter aggro druids but you dont face any in lets say 20 games but you keep losing to mage and hunter, you could swap that for a Kezan Mystic
I agree. But, thats why this is called oldschool deck tracking and it's not too much waste of time. You need 0,5 second to write down W or L, and that's it. At the end of sesaon you count and calculate W-L ratio. And I found this more fun than exel or 3rd party program :) thats all, just wanted to share and see if anyone else doing this like me..

In a way automation make us dumb. We forget how to count or how to handwrite. Very good method, gives you even more intimate connection with the game. It makes it more palpable, which is good for a virtual card game.

depends on the person.
For myself, a paper system would just get lost, leaving me less likely to try again. Same for if I can't find a pencil.
Electronic systems 'sync' better for me, whether manual or automatic. So long as I can see the data as I want it.
I completly agree with Grok. Just at the end stats on paper leaving more impression of 'real' stats... for me its like you need to remember something, and you write it down to paper noter or notes on your pc/tablet/phone. Personaly its more distinctly paper note...
Automaton makes everything easy but makes us dependent of it.
And yes you must have paper and pencil on your desk or you are becoming a bot :P

Hey lepro, I think it's a cool idea, just what you are winning or losing against could be useful rejig. I play on iPad so it makes more sense than maybe not tracking at all if your trying to make legend.
I also like the idea of doodling card art and stuff while they are roping turn 1-2 or playing a long control game. You could always transfer your hieroglyphics after a few months to a digital file.
reminds me how I used to make magic decks and wanted / for trade lists. I had a computer I just liked having all the book card encyclopedias and going through them with a notepad. Tracker and bots suits the same people that farm gold heros at rank 20. Which is fine but to each their own.

I would argue that one should use the best tools available to achieve efficiency and effectiveness. Nevertheless your idea is a cool one. We rely to much on modern technologies nowadays that we no longer appreciate "the old-fashioned ways".
I have dual-screen, so I kinda stick to the excel thing. I like seeing numbers jumping in real time. :)

@Lepr0- I like this method. While it's not something I currently do, I may start soon. The vast majority of my games are played on a tablet for the sake of convenience. That rules out all the stat tracking software. But, I always have a pen and notebook handy (I carry them at all times in order to jot down/sketch ideas). I keep meaning to start tracking my W/L ratio, but just never get around to it. Thank you for the reminder to finally get going on this.

The way you write 9 troubles me.

too much waste of time, when you have a program that does it automatically.
Also, in excel is easier, since you can autocalculate the win-loss rates, the amounts and even which decks you played against

I do similar thing with Google Doc and it's working pretty well =).
Meta changes the moment you switch your deck.

I write it down in text files on my computer like this:
Control Warrior: 5-2
Handlock: 4-5
Zoolock: 5-0
Total: 14-7
Much easier and faster than pen and paper in my opinion.
Pen and paper is dead. Go digital bro!
