I'm glad they decided to add deathrattle-synergies to demon hunter.
Seemed like they were lacking before but now that they are the demon-tempo-manacheat-carddraw-lifesteal-boardclear-combo-heropowersynergy-weapon-outcast-deathrattle-class it seems really round.
"I'll be honest - we're throwing science Demon Hunter at the wall here to see what sticks. No idea what it'll do. Probably nothing. Best-case scenario, you might get some superpowers average strength decks. Worst case, some tumors aggro garbage, which we'll cut out nerf."
What even IS Demon Hunter's identity this expansion. Almost nothing they printed helps the already pre-conceived idea that Demon Hunter is the Aggro/OTK archetype. Deathrattle Demon Hunter? Blizzard is trying to force something again and it won't work.
Class identities are strange, and widely muddled. Most classes don't have a lot of mechanics that are entirely their own, as the pool of mechanics is so small relative to classes that many classes share features of their identity with one another, either thematically or gameplay-wise.
Demon Hunter at its conception borrowed a lot of what Hunter and Rogue had while not also borrowing their weaknesses, incredible aggression and tempo, alongside a lot of lifegain, mana cheating, and card draw - things that kept the original two classes from being too strong because they lacked them.
As the Core Set(s) and future expansions mold the card pool, all classes will probably form stronger identities over time, sometimes changing entirely depending on what Blizzard thinks is right. Its exciting, and makes the future seem bright.
Demon Hunter is such a hyper specific class and devoid of diversity of different playstyles outside of drawing a lot of cards and attacking with face. Making anything outside of that will just feel weird and out of place. I dunno why they decided to go with this class as new one, Death Knight would be much better pick.
It's wild that they're trying to push deathrattle Demon Hunter without printing any cards that actually payoff for playing deathrattle Demon Hunter. Reminds me of a certain Shaman theme.
Replace "demon" and "outcast" with relevant class mechanics and this describes literally every class.
DH identity is going face, fast cycling through cards and summoning demons. If they add more, it's expansion identity, not class identity. Like deathrattles in the barrens. Like recruit cards. Like jade. Ever heard of expansion themes ?
Every class has mana cheating. Every class has healing (cry me a river rogue). Every class has board clears. Every class has card draw. Most classes have weapons.
In fact, only a few classes have a truly unique mechanic, like overload for shaman or ramp for druid. DH has outcast.
As a side note, why are people still being toxic about DH when it's by far the worst class in the game, butchered by so many nerfs it's literally unplayable ?

When did rogue lack card draw and mana cheating exactly ?

Let me guess a good payoff would be a 2 mana 10/10 summon all deathrattle from your decks, give them charge taunt and lifesteal ?

rogue doesn't have board clears either, nor will it have "hero power synergy" since you want to buff real weapons, not your hero power, nor will it have deathrattle synergy once rotation happens. Rogue identity will literally just be draw cards, hit face, and swing the board by mana cheating.
its a weird expansion for me, i mean, some classes are left behind with one single playable archtype like priest, spellpriest, end of story.
Control is gone since all Priest Value control cards are gone , Resurrect is gone (finally), Highlander is gone, Dragons are gone, Galakrond is gone....so yeah, spells and more spells i guess.

Corrupt priest or C'thun-spell priest could be decent.

Define "value control cards" please ? Because priest got some crazy control cards in the barrens, and as the guy above me said, all priest need is a C'thun to win the game.

Cave JohnsonBlizzardDemon Hunter's identity is "Jack of all trades, master of none"
thats druids
That just sounds like Forged in the Barrens as a whole to be honest...

No reason for playing deathrattle demon hunter.
This is one of the worst expansions. probably just TGT but I don't sure about it.

please don't bully my son
I thought Demon Hunter's identity was a copy of a strong card from another class, 1-2 mana cheaper and possibly more stats?

I’ll revisit this thread in one month to hear all the people complaining about Deathrattle DH being too OP 😂
Don’t forget we have a mini-set for this expansion and there will probably some broken death rattle card or two in it.
Why is it that when DH gets a new effect people bitch about class identity, but not with the other classes ?

Poisoned Blade
Yoink!
Blade Flurry
Dark Iron Skulker
What's your point ? Rogue had deathrattle synergy at some point. Like literally almost every class.
All classes get new tools once in a while, some stick, some don't.
and ? It's always been rogue's core identity, fast, aggressive, cheap, cheating cards, with an emphasis on secrets, poisons, stealth, thief themes.
Demon hunter is the same except with faster, smaller hits, with an emphasis on demon summoning, fel magic and the illidari.
I find it quite amusing that the best class in the meta is being jealous of the worst class. Rogues being crybabies as usual.
