Am I the only one that is bored, when I face standard decks in wild?
This is not meant as a salt thread, some will argue that it is and they might be right or not, but could we please not go off topic. I did not post in the salt thread because I am asking for opinions and not to blow of steam. Now that is off the table let me get back on topic.
I found a old thread here, but decided not to post in it because i do not want to necro it:
I am aware that the more formats Blizzard makes the higher that risk is that the player base is spread too thin, but on the other hand it might keep some players playing.
But I am curious if you would play a vintage format? That could be cards from:
A: Basic, standard, curse of naxxramas, goblins vs gnomes, blackrock mountain, the grand tournament and hot cards (4 first expansions)
B: Basic, standard, journey to un'goro, knights of the frozen throne, kobolds and catacombs, the witchwood, the boomsday project, rastakhans rumble and hot (the two lastest years expansion that went out of standard)
C: Like wild excepts the current standard expansion cards (so no year of the dragon or phoenix cards).
Personally I would play all three of the above to try some new (old) limits, when trying to build a deck.
Let people play whatever they want in wild... every standard card is also a wild card... but not every wild card is a standard card...
But I am a huge fan of another new format, not necesarily a vintage format, but a new format should be introduced to keep the game from being too stale...

Good idea . Won’t happen because they don’t care (and probably wouldn’t be able to do it properly).
Thank you. I fail to understand how hard it can be?
They need to make the icon that switches between standard and wild switch between standard, wild and vintage. They need to make vintage decks stand out from the rest of your decks like wild does with the vine. In "My collection" they need to make a selection called "Vintage" in the menu.
The hardest part would be to decide, which cards that are to be included. A static selection like A with all the oldest cards or a dynamic one like B or C, where cards rotate.
Oh and perhaps make more achievements based on vintage play (but that is not a must)

I wonder how else you would make a new format (I hope we won't get something similar til duels, one of that kind is fine).
If it isn't a format that include or exclude certain expansions, then we are talking something bigger (more programming and thoughts on balance) like changing deck size, number of copies in a deck or some sort of draft format. All of which I think would demand a lot of work, I am not saying it isn't interesting, but it would be demanding and something simple like limiting cards I can use in a new way, that is not wild or standard would do it for me.
I for one would love this. Currently a friend and I mimic this with a Sealed Draft (using Tempo Storms tool) every week. It’s a ton of fun to explore the limits of those early sets and how they play together.

I don't hate standard, I play standard too. When I play wild I enjoy meeting other decks, than those dominating standard, so also playing against libram pally or tickatus warlocks in wild, that bores me.

That could work too, though I do enjoy playing with ranks, which would not be there. I like to see a ranked vintage format.

We need not a "vintage" format but something with rotating sets. I'd love a game mode that offers 6-8 "random" sets each month ranging from standard sets to ancient ones.
Duels kinda meant to do that but it is a very different game mode and you get cards from other sets in buckets.
A and B look a lot like just playing the meta at TGT or RR release. If you you didn't play back then, I can tell that they were among the worst (35% hunter. No shit).
A no last year format? If you want nostalgia, why not a HS classic only format?
I think a more restricted "wild" format could be nice, but maybe more something where certain cards or expansions were sorted out, so that we can play against other decks than secret mage and HL/Big priest.
Another suggestion could be a format where the classes are split into different groups with specific expansions linked to them. One could even add a chess style timer to speed things up a bit.

I would be happy with any dynamic new ranked mode without standard cards (dynamic in the sense, that cards that can be played change over time.. monthly or yearly).
Make a deck with classic, HoF and basic cards would be a fun brawl, but too static for a permanent new format.
Being someone who predicted the Standard Format 3 months before they announced it, I shall make another prediction now. Mark it.
Wild will be the "vintage" format of Hearthstone. I think they will create another format which will feature cards from the last 4-5 year period, which means, if you are someone who plays Libram Paladin, you won't have to delete your cards, because they are pretty much unplayable in the oppressive Wild metagame. But you can enjoy them in a competitive format and even try new tactics with the new expansions.
To make it clear, let's make an example and assume that the new format starts this year.
So, leaving the Year of the Phoenix (2020), the new year commences. Let's call it the year of the Monkey for the example. 3 Expansions will be added during the year. At the same time Hearthstone gets the new format let's call it "Modern". This is the format where the last 4 years + the current year will be part of the game along with basic and classic. Thus it will include all the expansions from Journey to Un'Goro up until now, along with the 3 expansions of 2021 (the year of the monkey). Once the year of the monkey is completed, 2022 comes with the year of the Scorpion, for example. Now, the "Modern" format has the set from Witchwood up until 2021 and will include the 2022 sets. Here's a poorly made diagramm to make it a bit more clear.
Hearthstone in 2021: Standard Format: [Basic + Classic + Year of the Phoenix(2020) + Year of the Monkey (2021)] Modern Format: [Basic + Classic + Year of the Mammoth(2017) + Year of the Raven(2018) + Year of the Dragon(2019) + Year of the Phoenix(2020) + Year of the Monkey (2021)] Wild Format: ALL SETS
Hearthstone in 2022: Standard Format: [Basic + Classic +Year of the Monkey (2021) + Year of the Scorpion(2022)] Modern Format: [Basic + Classic + Year of the Raven(2018) + Year of the Dragon(2019) + Year of the Phoenix(2020) + Year of the Monkey (2021) + Year of the Scorpion(2022)] Wild Format: ALL SETS
REASONING: Blizzard will say that they want players who are attached to certain decks to keep playing the game in a format where these decks can be supported and won't get crushed by oppressive Wild decks. They will put some attention on this format as well, in order to keep a certain number of players there too. But the real reason behind it is to keep your cards from being disenchanted. Many people disenchant the cards they rotate, knowing they won't be able to play decks like Libram Paladin in Wild. What if there was a format though, that would let them play those decks? They would need to keep those cards, meaning they'll have to spend more on packs for the upcoming expansions. Plus, they maybe need to craft again Sunkeeper Tarim for Libram Paladin. This means more dust is needed, therefore more packs, therefore possibly more money into the game. The fact that people will "need" to keep their cards alive for a while longer will be part of Blizzard's profitable policies. For dummies, more formats -> more decks -> more packs -> more $$$.
That's why I believe that such a format will be inevitable. Feel free to fight me.
Modern Format: [Basic + Classic + Year of the Mammoth(2017) + Year of the Raven(2018) + Year of the Dragon(2019) + Year of the Phoenix(2020) + Year of the Monkey (2021)]
While I like the idea, a whole new format would have to properly set itself apart from both Wild and Standard. With the very high power level in Standard currently, I am not convinced that will happen yet. Skilled players are also able to pilot pure standard decks to high ranks in wild.
Oh, and a true Vintage equivalent would really mean an "unnerfed" format, with broken decks like SA druid, quest rogue, patron warrior and aggro pirate shaman duking it out for absolute dominance with even more tools added.

This is not what will happen in an "unnerf" everything format. We will see new decks incorporating old broken cards not a resurgence of old standard archetypes with upgrades

Bro they can't even balance the game modes they currently have and you want to introduce 3 more? You must be smoking some amazing Christmas hash.
My suggestion is to make one vintage format, but I am making three suggestion to how it could be done.
But would you play one of them or another that excluded all or some of the current standard expansions cards?

Well, I always welcome free wins. It's not boring, it's pathetic, especially paladin.
Let’s fix formats b4 adding more pls

What about a mode with cards of the Arena cycle? But with own deckbuilding. This would be amazing
