The new casino rules makes it hard to enjoy the game. If you want to level up in ranked you have to pay out $$$. THe RND allows you to win or move to the later levels if you paid more than your opponent. The lesson is that you will always hit a brick wall when trying to achieve the next level unless you buy more. HS is hoping that lesson sinks in, so if its important to you, then buy your way to the top rank.
I've created about 4 unbeatable decks. Once they detect these decks they increase the opponent deck strength you're facing. This is the reason they hide the rank of the other player. Its a strength matching mechanic that pits players based on deck strength. The wrong card in your deck will pit you against the toughest opponents.
The time detect these unbeatable decks has shortened signifigantly in a few years. My latest creation was corrected after a 11 game winning streak (less than 2 hour).
Detect? If you have a high win rate, your mmr goes up. That's no secret really. In fact it was part of the announcement when the new ranking system came out, that mm would be more influenced by your recent "skill level" than just your rank. I think there are even players who exploit this when they hit level 5 in plat or diamond to get some easier opponents for a while. You even indirectly state that with the "deck power detection". It's a shame that you don't like it, but it actually helps new players climbing and old players feeling challenged. It also makes the top ladder slightly less aggro dominated. If you win 11 games in a row, wouldn't you expect your opponents to get stronger at some point, and wouldn't your "unbeatable" decks just smash them anyway?
Once you hit legend you can see your opponents rank btw. Also with non legend opponents ;)
I own a Belcher, a Shredder, Reno, Kaza, Loathy, Rag, Syl, 2 Azures and 1 Tomb Pillager golden, as do you Only Username :) . I guess we were in line bout what was good, you and I! (Some of the cards were Hall of Fame’d, so an opportunity presented itself there for Goldies at a fraction of the normal price, of which we were obviously aware.)
You (still) follow the pro-scene: Do you find yourself interested in it less than before the “Masters system” ? Or is it a relatively new interest with you?
How much money did you contribute to the upkeep of blizz’s servers / the salaries of the draftsmen (they do a super job imo)? Spent 60 euro’s myself at the very start, and received presents worth 210euri spread out across the years on top of that. 270 euri in 6+ years.
-> Is that enough?
Am I a leech - just counting on the fact that the whales will pick up their own as well as my tab, so that I can happily play without “supporting the supplier” enough?
Hey Josse! Yeah, there are some great cards in Wild and I'm still happy I got them in gold. I did pretty well ito dust when some of them were HoF'd but overall I got burned when they split the formats into Standard and Wild. So much dust on so many cards I can't use in the main format. Ugh.
I've been following competitive HS for a few years now I'm probably less interested in it now than I was before. I enjoyed the recent World's though but there was a time during Swiss or shortly after where I felt there was just too much GM content. Personally I don't really like the GM format. It feels too closed. Always the same players. The format stops unknown players from breaking into the big leagues and I don't think that's a good thing. I also think the format is kinda dull. The weeks where everyone had to bring decks from every class and we were treated to endless matches of jank Shaman decks was painful to watch, I don't think I lasted more than 20 minutes. Definitely not the way to showcase the game.
Over the years I have spent a lot on this game. I'm too scared to go and check my Blizz account to see exactly how much I've actually spent but it's way more than $1,000. At least Blizzard were able to upgrade their EU servers with that money :D I don't think there's a right or wrong amount to spend on the game. Depends on your circumstances. If you can get by and enjoy the game while spending very little or even no money, great. Same for those who choose to spend more.
just to make other ppl sad, rage and (my personal favourite) add and try to flame me as there is nothing better than feeling the salt on the air. There 0 other reason to play this game if you want fun go play sth else
I've never seen anything close to this, wow. You must be playing like 8 hours a day for several years? And with a decent win rate overall.
Druid nearly 7k wins DUDE WHAT. :D
And yeah 1500 wins with DH, that must have been Odd DH in lower wild ranks. :P
Now that you have all classes above 1500 wins, what's your next goal?
“Playing 8 hours per day for several years”….? Hmmm… That could actually be not very far from my average since I learnt about HS in 2014. Nah nah, it has to be way less than that. I hope. Decent win rate -> Yeah, but it doesn’t count by reason of conceding vs every priest I came across. (Hate seeing Convincing Infiltrator on 5 Every Time - Makes for a very unvaried experience.)
When trying to get to Legend rank (always in standard) I enjoy a winrate of 54 / 55 % . Not high, at the low end of players reaching Legend, I would guess. I am not a good player: One that is capable of reaching Legend (barely), but without many days in the month left to actually play there.
Druid only close to 6.400 wins, not 7k! ^^ Ramping is a true passion.
The first 1.000 wins with DH were with “my own” dragon-Odd. It is a fast deck, obviously with 2 damage via hero power each turn, but it also includes Ysera. But ok, it does steamroll, you are right EnTaro. Thanx for your reaction.
Last 500 DH-wins came with an all golden highlander deck. It’s quite cool to “show off” that golden coin (when you are on the coin;) . The opponent must initially think they play vs a Whizbang the Wonderful-deck, but it ain’t. I do not own all the top tier cards golden, so "had to" make do with sub-par golden cards. Hurt the winrate; Not the satisfaction when it worked.
I honestly do not know what’s next! Uninstall. No, no, never. I am still pondering what should be next. I’ll come back to it.
Hey all good, no need to justify. :D These are just crazy numbers, you'll have to admit. ;) Let's hope for a bright future for Hearthstone, maybe we'll meet in ladder one day, who knows. :D
And 1500 with DH already! Do you just play aggro decks all day?
I don't mean to sound snarky. I'm genuinely impressed, but maybe also a bit worried :)
Edit: I didn't notice the druid wins until now XD
I have over 10k wins with Paladin. When secret pala was unbeatable, it was almost autowin every single time, for months. Same with Warrior, when pirate warrior was unbeatable.

I never got the "I'm old and don't feel like having fun" stuff I'd hear from people. but now in my 30s, i can pick up my console controller or log into a launcher and say to myself "you know what? nah".
If I'm going to goof off, i want it to be worth my time when i could otherwise nap or do some chore. So if hearthstone is fun and not a grindy pain in my ass, I'll hop on and fiddle for a bit. i treat it more like an arcade where it's my time rather than a quarter I'm putting in.
I mostly play mage and rogue I don’t play Agro anything. Well the entertainment value is very few me I play the quest and if I get winning streak I might play longer. I find winning with random cards is fun. To be really I hit gold 10 last night while playing no minion mage. Wasn’t really trying. Just got lucky. But other times I just stop cause while d h makes want to do something else
I'm usually too busy to get more than two or three games in a row. Living with the Fiance, and a new puppy keeps me pretty busy when I'm home from work! I can't play more than two classes at a time, due to dust cost to get legendaries. Basically, after I open the 40 or so packs of cards I opened when an expansion starts, I'll play whichever class I got the most cards for to play an interesting deck. Right Now I own almost all the Demonhunter cards, and am mostly playing Meangerie N'Zoth Warrior, as I really like the mechanics. Not doing too well with it, as I'm just messing around with different decks, and I lack a lot of the Epic and Legendary cards for Warrior. Mostly playing a Galakond variant ATM. Might go back to my Demonhunter when I want to actually win games again lol. I might base my decks off ranking ones, but change it due to my collection. Last expansion I played a lot of Highlander and Quest druid, but a lot of those cards are going to rotate soon, so I might start dusting them to flesh out my warrior collection.
Menagerie Zoth warrior indeed looks like a lot of fun! It can be very strong also, specially due to the new small weapon that can give you up to +9/9 (!) on minions in your hand. For 2 mana? That’s frightening to play against!
Jared, is it enough for you to only play 2 classes? (I don’t mind focussing on one good deck myself. Don’t mind playing it for months, even.)
Ahh, it always makes me sad when I hear others stating they will DE good cards, e.g. what you might do with your Quest drood cards (a deck I too enjoyed very much). It’s a true pity you are unable to hang on to them and go back to ‘em in the future.Enjoy your new pup! And fiancée :P .
This might be one of the nicest and most constructive threads I've seen here. No venom, just good vibes.
Love that you write this! I have the same feeling, and am quite happy with it ^^ .
I've only started recently to have that urge to reach legend. Arena was my main mode since 2014 until BG came out. I first wanted to reach 12 wins with each class (except DH). Took ages since each class has shined at different times. After getting a pure 12 win with rouge and priest I kind of lost the ambition and just want a good win rate now. Winning or nr 1 in BG with each class was a minor goal. Not really a set target, more a means to variation. I also used to aim for finishing with every class in dungeons, but the year of the dragon introduced some really long ones and I lost interest around that time. This month it's reaching legend in standard. Last month was wild. After then I don't know really... Maybe back to BG... Collecting was always a big thing for me so I guess that's why I was more an Arena guy than ranked. The meta has a big influence on my style. I mostly play warrior, so when he shines I'm more likely to play ranked. I think the new ranked system has made it a bit easier and a lot less work to reach legend. That has definitely motivated me to aim for it and then just play fun decks.
You really suck the marrow out of the bone of this game Guru :) . Cool to hear that you have set this many goals for yourself in different environments of the game, you try it all out. How is the road to leggy coming along? Are you having fun with warrior? Bomb, or Big maybe? OTK/ ETC warrior, I haven’t had the pleasure to encounter it yet. Am interested how that one works. It’s thrilling to play against a deck of which you do not have an idea yet of what it’s capable of. Following the steps of your opponent, “Can he pull it off? What is he trying to do exactly?”
I reached leggy the last 3 months with Pure pally first, then Broom. This month, it seems as though other decks have its number thoroughly, especially evolve shammy.
Just wanted to say that I finished my "500 wins with all classes" run with style. I finished it with Cthun (highlander mage seems pretty good after these nerfs). I am super happy!
Next goal is to reach 1000 wins with Warlock and get that badass portrait. Paladin will be next one :)
Great that you are so happy Jurke! See, that’s what HS can bring about (inside of us) now and then!
Did u use the new CThun? Have never seen it in action yet, my opponents haven’t been able to assemble the parts, Then shuffle it in and Then draw it. This Shattered CThun seems so weak.. ;)
First my goal was just to have fun. I never thought i would reach legend one day. Now i have reached legend 5 times in wild (1 time old system, 4 times new one). Since it gotten easier with the change, i figured i could try go legend with every class once. But i dont think i can do that...at least with my frequent played heroes that im missing yet i could manage. So my next goal would be legend with mage & shaman.
I wouldnt mind to reach 12 wins in arena. I did a few times 10...
At least once legend in standard would be cool. I tried a couple times and i alwasy get bored very quick with the limited cards and boring meta.
Golden portrait with all classes...i guess i will manage one day. Im missing only druid and DH, but im maybe at 200 wins while other classes i have already over 1000. Since beta i havent found a deck for druids yet that would somehow feel funny to play. Same goes for DH, i have maybe 40 wins. Its just totally not my play style.
There we go...a couple of things still to achieve :)
It strangely never occurred to me to try and reach leggy with all the classes: Naturally, a very worthy Goal CoKrok! I’d take my hat off to anyone who accomplishes the feat.
Funny huh, the fact e.g. DH doesn’t suit you at all; But others feel like a fish in water piloting it. I couldn’t for the life of me imagine finding any druid deck NOT funny (rewarding) to play, but you clearly do! It never ceases to amaze me how different we all are.

Hmmm, interesting reaction Max! What “Casino Rules” are you referring to?
I don’t share your concerns about matchmaking. In my experience, if I play a good deck, I have a good chance at getting over the hump and enter Legend. It may take me 220 games, or 160, but generally I find a sweet spot where I can string those last few wins together to cross over the 3 stars of Dia-1.
You know, when you are trying to climb, you win some and lose some. In my experience, it’s as dull as that. After a while you get an idea about what decks are good for you to face: you’ll win the majority of those matches. Not all of ‘em. If you play a good deck and you are proficient as a player, you’ll win, say 11 matches out of 20. And then maybe a streak of 14 out of 20. But you might also encounter a stretch where you’ll only have a 30% winrate. Which will even itself out in the next 20 matches.
If your winrate stays below par, below what you have grown accustomed to, the problem might lie in the deck. e.g. I reached legend with Broom Pally the last 2 months. But this month, the deck doesn't feel strong. It seems as though its good match-ups have largely disappeared and have been replaced by evolve shammy, amongst others. Which seems to be a losing match-up. So, I made an evolve shammy myself and tried if that deck could fit me.
Don’t be afraid to switch. You might find you actually like playing that deck you despise facing.
If a good player makes a new account at this moment, he or she could be Legend in a month or so, without paying a penny. I strongly believe that. The player would play a cheap deck of course, but cheap isn’t bad in HS. Face hunter and aggro DH have good match-ups, their games are fast.
Max, I do not think you have created 4 unbeatable decks. Even the best decks can draw badly, which means you just lose (to an opponent with a good hand).
Can you give an example of a “wrong card” that would influence matchmaking and pit you against the toughest oppo's (for your deck?) ?
Good points , there are aspects of HS that make it promising like the design of the cards. The latest expansion has surpassed expectations but the backend of the game has degraded. I don't mind being beaten by a better deck, whats disappointing is the fixed win/loss mechinism that wont let you win more than 3 games or lose 3 games in a row. I've lost several games on purpose only to have one of the HS staff intervien to allow me to win the game. THe game is fixed to insure continual game playing and thats treating the players like numbers. For a game that hosts tournaments it doesn't speak well when some games are predetermined.
At the end of the day its entertainment and if you know that the game is fixed then you treat it that way, similar to WWE wrestling. But some people like watching sports and not WWE because it has an aspect of uncertainty. Those games have high value and HS used to be a high value game until the execs decided to hand over the reins to casino people. The sad thing is that its so obvious making me think that the programers consider the players as 8 year olds.

N'Zoth, the Corruptor Y'Shaarj, the Defiler Academic Espionage
here's an experiment.... build the worst deck possible with no legends, only commons. Play 3 games and take note of your opponents deck strength. Now add one or more of the cards above and see what happens.
Sorry to shatter your world but then again maybe I just kidding and this is only a joke. Drink some water and have a good nights sleep and in the morning things will return to normal like you never read what I had posted. HS is still a good game.

Your posts are a bit confusing friend. First you have 11 wins in a row, now the game is fixed, so that you can't win or lose more than 3 in a row. Are any of these two statements your present honest opinion? I do appreciate a good joke, but the written format isn't always the best for setting the appropriate tone. Maybe you could clarify?

Its not my place to criticize the game so forget that I mentioned anything. I want HS to keep making exceptional expansions and to make them aware that they have a responsibility to people looking for an entertaining escape. As far as the goals go.... there should be more multi tear goals that lead to an end goal. Prizes can include special symbols on rank identifier that indicate achievement. For those that reached 1500 wins for all heros or 20k EXP they should get a special symbol beside their rank so that others can identify their achievements. Creating small things of this nature will spur more entertainment. >>HS can use any of my ideas without consent<<
Consider making a wish list for wanted cards to give the players more incentive to play. HS is a kingdom and creating a map of this kingdom will add an new venue to player experience. The map contains goals that once achieved expand the map to other lands. Players will want to see the entire map thus spur their achievements. Hero uniqueness is important so allow player to change some of the colors of their hero to make them unique to the player. Grouping players into exclusive clubs is important therefore with more EXP a player has, the more exclusivity they have allowing them to join certain groups of clubs. These are only a few suggestions.
Reach Legend, eventually - and get Mage, Rogue and Druid to 500/1000, mage(390) and druid aren't that much of a hurry as I have the pass skins and druid's getting the track one even if druid has only 14 wins in ranked, but rogue? The border alone is 390 wins away. These are the only classes I care about besides Priest and I made King Anduin a month ago ^-^
Besides that, although awfully minor, own The Amazing Reno. I keep saying I'll buy the adventure but my gold always went to packs for either cards I needed to make my Priest decks semi-work or dust to simple craft them, but with the 1,000th win came a lack of total desire to play ranked outside of just having fun in it(random nonsense with mage) so the golds been building up easier now. And they killed my really badly built Malygos OTK with Gala Rogue, and since I don't own Toggwaggle it got exceptionally harder for me to show off the only golden legendary that's ever dropped for me in normal packs and the only reason I budgeted the deck :(

A personal goal that I‘d been striving after for a few years now was to beat heroic Lord Victor Nefarius without letting him activate his hero power.
With the addition of Lightning Bloom, I finally managed to pull it off this September 😁
It was a glorious moment and I’m kinda proud because I got it on video 😂
Well said
Right now it's to get 10k in battlegrounds.

Ahh, it always makes me sad when I hear others stating they will DE good cards, e.g. what you might do with your Quest drood cards (a deck I too enjoyed very much). It’s a true pity you are unable to hang on to them and go back to ‘em in the future. Enjoy your new pup! And fiancée :P .
Love that you write this! I have the same feeling, and am quite happy with it ^^ .
Great that you are so happy Jurke! See, that’s what HS can bring about (inside of us) now and then!
Did u use the new CThun? Have never seen it in action yet, my opponents haven’t been able to assemble the parts, Then shuffle it in and Then draw it. This Shattered CThun seems so weak.. ;)
Thanks for your posts, guys (gals) ^^ .
The sad thing is that its so obvious making me think that the programers consider the players as 8 year olds.

here's an experiment.... build the worst deck possible with no legends, only commons.
And they killed my really badly built Malygos OTK with Gala Rogue, and since I don't own Toggwaggle it got exceptionally harder for me to show off the only golden legendary that's ever dropped for me in normal packs and the only reason I budgeted the deck :(
stop playing the game because ive been spending too much money on it
Want to hit leaderboard in arena. Havent succeded yet. Higest was 6.3 i think
