I’m enjoying them although it will be much improved at its proper release. Managed to get my first 12 wins last night and it was with Druid!
Got close with shaman at 10 wins, but struggling a lot with warlock so far. Warlock really needs a better hero power upon release so fingers crossed 🤞
The game mode is trash the strongest deck will always win
there are so many combinations of fun decks and play styles to experiment with.
You're kidding, right?
Not at all! Duels is so much fun and I can’t wait for the rest of the features. I can keep playin this game mode and still be taken by surprise. The vast combination of treasures/class/decks are fantastic, and throwing in 2 more parameters to those combinations on release will be bonkers.
I honestly believe people who think the mode is not varied with lots of combinations has not played Duels a lot (if at all), or keeps being defeated very early before deck packs and treasure change too much.

A lot of boring overpowered combos
To each his own :)
I was not looking for a tournament mode or a chess-like mode in perfect balance. I was looking for a fun and casual mode of Hearthstone! Hearthstone meaning some whacky outcomes, a dash of randomness to keep it fresh every time and yea, the highrolls. But like I said, to each his own. I’m also the kind of player who loves games with Yoggbox - no matter which player plays it! To me it’s just a lot of fun, and I don’t play hearthstone for ranking or rewards, I play to be entertained and have fun. And for this, Duels is a great success in my book.
Duels is basically extreme early access right now. Soon every class will be able to choose from I think 3 hero powers and 4 starting treasures? Or something like that. Anyway, that's a pretty big deal.
As for people copy/pasta 15 card decks? I mean, you can, but you certainly don't have to. While your initial 15 cards is absolutely important, it plays a relatively smaller role overall during a 7+ win run. From what I can tell, there so many solid 15 card combinations that I really don't feel it will be necessary to netdeck, and gives deckbuilders a lot of wiggle room to play with some off the wall ideas. But I mean, netdeckers gonna netdeck. Always have, always will. I just don't see that as a problem. However, suggesting to give people pre-made decks would make duels infinitely more boring.
Where I do agree is the power variance for the random treasures. It's obvious that some treasures are incredible and others are literal troll picks. My inner tinfoil hat tells me Blizzard has done this intentionally to help reduce the number of players reaching 12 wins once paid runs go live. I personally don't have too much of an issue with this because the number of acceptable treasures seem to be plentiful enough that you should be able to remain competitive in 'most' runs. But yes, there will be the occasional run where you just get trolled by treasure picks and to be fair, that's gonna leave a sour opinion for anyone.
Bottom line though is this. If you don't like duels, don't play them. You'll still have Battlegrounds, Wild and Standard to choose from. And, if that isn't to your liking, then it sounds like you simply don't like Hearthstone in general and should probably look for a different game to play altogether.
I have not played that game mode but from what I have seen is that it looks fun. I may get frustrated in the first few games when I play it like it did in Battlegrounds but with time I will learn. I just hope that the 3 hero powers and the initial 6 treasures can already be played on the expansion launch day because it will be very boring if you can only choose the single hero power and the same treasure for each hero. Another problem I see is the initial health of 20 because I have seen several videos and streams that are pulverized in the initial games because of aggro decks taking advantage of that health.
I play everything in Hearthstone except Arena, I hate that s***. I only play it for the tickets when they give you for each rotation and the free pack.
Are your aware that it is early access with limited content? It's basically a demo
WTH did you expect?
Have you been paying attention to the gaming industry in the last 10 years at all? This is the finished game. They just coin it like "beta" and "early access" to get money out of the fools.
Look at BG, on paper still in beta, the reality is the game was past the beta phase on release.
I've been enjoying Duels so far. There are obvious balance issues around with the initial decks available (for example the Warlock hero power is actually really really good, it only seems to suck because there aren't enough of the discard combo cards available to pick at the moment).
Bottom line is that it's fun. When you get a crazy deck that really works and then face off with other players crazy decks it gets pretty intense, with all the OP treasures big swing turns are pretty common. The only deck that seems oppressive at high wins (ie you can blow your opponent out in 4 turns if they don't draw well) is Druid with Gibberlings. I also had a pretty great 12 win run with a Hunter deck that had 5 Mad Scientists, 10+ secrets and Deathrattles trigger on playing a minion (and a bunch of deathrattle minions). Hard to stabilise against that when Hunter has face pressure.
I don't know all those modes: arena, bg, duels can be pretty fun if you are on a roll. Yes, they include heavy-swing-turns, high-rolling, luck - everything that so many people here on the forums despise but they are important to have a really good time instead of a tired yawn.
I really can't understand how you people find this game mode fun and entertaining in this actual state!
It's so one dimensional. Options are so limited and gameplan is so restricted, you either follow the stream or get flooded by it.
I mean, is there really a possible mage build not including apprentice, cheap spells and the pumped mana wyrms smashing the opponent's face?!?
Is there really a viable shaman archetype not relying on flooding the board and bloodlusting the opponent's face?
Is there a possible non tempo demon hunter build?
Is there a possible non huge-mana-tempo-swing druid build out there?
Is there a paladin out there not playing the usual divine shield package?
Let's say it gets interesting from game 6 onward (since by that moment less than half of your deck will be made by the starting 15). But the problem is, if you try something different from the usual builds, you're very likely to never get to game 6.
At least if they cut out that ridiculous time-consuming pick-the-same-15-cards-over-and-over-again routine it would speed up the process a little bit...
I've got nothing against the game mode but I can't understand why they're spreading their teams even thinner when they've got 2 game modes that still need tons of attention. Just seems like an easy monetization strategy made by some exec to me because I'd bet my left lung they've not been given more budget as a team to support this mode.

Have you noticed that there are 3 hero powers for every class and all you said was based on the fact a specific build rotate around a specific HP?
Now "imagine" you have to do that at least 3 times for every class since every class has 3 HP... "one dimensional"...
Now "imagine" you have to adapt the deck you are building every time there's a new treasure and there are like 5/8 more treasures to discover for every class... again "one dimensional"...
Now, "imagine" that every 3 months the cards sets rotate... and again... "one dimensional"...
If there's a flaw in the new mod is it will never be competitive in anyway because there are too many variable steamroll combinations... and the higher are the wins the more there will be but it's there for fun and casual gamers and we like it... most of all because, differently from arena, it can be played for free.

Boy, if you have no idea, it would be wiser to just shut up. Of course this is a beta. After the release you can choose between several hero powers and there will be more heroes and treasures. But the main thing is to open your mouth and make a fool of yourself without having informed yourself. Chapeu dude!
I can't see it as a competitive mode. More like arena as you would pay the same 150 gold or whatever they introduce for a run with similar prizes And since Arena is by far the worst and most boring game mode in my opinion this isn't that much different. In arena you draft your cards straight away and here you just "draft " them as you get more wins.
So I don't really see the point that it has a ranking. Sure it might be a bit more fun but for how long? Exactly the amount of time Adventure mode was fun.
I believe it's the same as Adventure mode. You'll do a few runs have some fun, reach 12 wins with classes. Maybe come back to it now and than and forget all about it after that.

That's why I said "in its actual state", smart man!!! As of NOW (!!!) trying to steer away from the dictated path is a dead end.
So yes, as of NOW, it's absolutely one-dimensional.
no...

The 1st step towards a better game is firing Mike Donais! We had enough of his "skillful" balances!

Even if Duels is a joke, it's no funnier than the BG mode ^_^

It's not super well balanced now, but that's because only like 10% of it is available. That is going to change once it is out of early access.
