Personally I’m a hater of pally hero, playing a wax ranger every turn, sometimes that double summons when it dies, not cool. But this is going to be wayyy less of a problem, including mage and shaman, when there are three hero powers and 9 treasures available.
Or when they rotate sets, which I think they should be doing like every 2 weeks to keep it fresh all the time. With all the combos of sets available that would help a lot.
Meta has gone veeery aggro lately with much more refined lists than before. Good luck playing anything but top tier classes (Shaman, Mage DH) and getting past 3 wins. Matches are very coin flippy early on, so if you don't have high tempo cards in your starter deck on top of one the stronger hero powers you will get burst down before you can even make an impact.
They need to change something about the starting health, not necessarily just change it directly but change something so the early wins don't favour aggro strats so much.
It is not about 1 good or bad experience. It is that the treasures are potentially so powerful that they essentially define how successful your run is going to be, a lot more than the card buckets or the initial 15 cards.
Apart from that, I think this game mode has tons of potential. At some point in the future we should have for each of the 10 classes 3 different hero powers and 6 different starting treasures to choose from, which should lead to a lot more variety in deck building and more interesting/fun gameplay. But the released version is a bit limited and quickly gets boring/stale
I agree about high rolling treasures now that Ive played for a week. I do hope they turn the power level down a bit with those so most games arent so one sided.
It will be alot better for sure once we have access to all the choices for HP and beginning Treasure.
Personally I´m not a fan of Dungeonruns, so I don´t think I will play this mode a lot. I didn´t buy a preorder so I can´t test it atm. As I have a lot of Arenatickets from other preorder and I´m a totally noob in arena I will spend my tickets for the new mode i guess. Hopefully I will get better rewards than in Arena. But after that I think I will never play this mode again. Except I had to do for achievements.
I really don't get why people hate RNG in hearthstone. I just feel like you have your expectations skewed when it comes to card games which are naturally based on the luck of the draw. This game doubles down on that but there are more predictable, strategic card games so rather than try to change this one more to your liking, why not try something that suits your play style better
I like this game and the rng doesn't really bother me. If I wanted to play something more strst based there are other card games out there more suited so why play this one?

I'm with you. It's the reason Hearthstone is the only card game I've ever properly played. Card games etc just aren't my 'scene'. Hearthstone is great fun though, sometimes the shenanigans go your way, others they go against you but all of the best moments I've had in hearthstone could probably be linked to some form of RNG. Whether that's pure luck, luck of the draw etc
I played through with an alt account just for fun, see what it's like to start fresh and that grind through the newbie ranks is just awful. Mind numbing. Reason being? So many demon hunters (which I totally get, no grief aimed towards them or the class, it's extremely f2p friendly and I was using it for that exact reason myself) and I quickly found that DH mirrors were the closest thing to Hearthstone without RNG I've seen. Neither player really generates anything or has any RNG based cards and wow, it's boring as hell. Really painful.
Long live the RNG. On the topic - I've really enjoyed duel to be honest. It will obviously get much, much more in depth and better etc. Everything in the game doesn't have to be for everyone. Battlegrounds isn't my bag, it's OK but I only play it if I have a quest for it. It's just not for me. Not once have I whinged about it though, I recognise that plenty of people love it. Great, good for them! Same with wild and arena. I have personally really enjoyed the dungeon run content they've done. I love the absurd things that can be pulled off that clearly can't ever make it into constructed. For a good whole I've wanted 'dungeon run vs other players'. Very nice surprise to hear about Duels, when the info dropped.
If it's not for you, that's fine. There are plenty of games where I don't make use of certain modes or game types. I don't expect the game to be designed with me and my specific happiness at the centre of their decision making processes.

It's probably no coincidence that this is my first proper card game either. It might be that when you come from another card game that you have enjoyed for years and come to this, you have a certain level of expectation of what makes a good card game and this doesn't fit that mould but coming in as a new player, it seems fun.
I would understand if this game started off as a strict strat game but it didn't.
I like the early final fantasies but I accept people like the later ones and that's fine. There was a different team, different thought process so it's not logical to expect the same game.
To say hearthstones RNG makes it bad. No. It's always been there on some level and that was always bound to increase in dynamic. If you want to play a pure strategy game then you're playing the wrong game and need to stop trying to mould this one in to your own view
Im not interested in that at all. Im not gonna watch it and definately not gonna play it.
The shear fact that u need wild collection to be any succesfull is absurd. Every card in this mode should be available. Other then some minor events (like wild tournaments) I cannot imagine ppl putting their thoughts into it, not to mentions streamers that are gonna leave 2 weeks after official release.
long story short- this mode has for way ahead to catch up BG or Kobolds and Cata

This gets blown WAY out of proportion. The power level of cards has been scaling over the years to the point where having a collection will satisfy about 95% of your deck building needs in this mode; hell, if you want to play DH then you already have everything you need at your disposal.
There are only going to be a handful of wild cards which creep into any meta and the ones I've seen thus far have been common or rares and since initial decks only carry 15 cards with no duplicates then you only need to craft a handful to stay competitive.
Totally unplayable game mode until fully unlocked. Absurdly unbalanced and, as usual, demon hunter's ridiculous power level ultimately ruins it. A mode that completely s**ts over any effort of creative deck building. And, basically, if you're offered a s**tty first treasure choice you might just as well concede right off the bat.
I personally don't like it. I don't see it as new game mode. It is the Kobolds and Catacombs single adventure were you can play against other people. Kobolds and Catacombs' adventure by the way, it was good, probably one of the best ever released, so there is some fun in duels, but until when? It is not really new.
So, I am disappointed about this "new" game mode. I was hoping for more.
Good content in the short term. As for the long term who knows. I think its good because it maybe allows blizz to turn back the clock and tone down the power creep in classic whilst still keeping the crazy bullshit that I love about classic, just confining it to duels instead. Currently classic is very swingy and kinda hard to get invested in imo. Couldn't be bothered to grind out legend this season specifically (which is the first time in ages I've felt this way). Surely the addition of duels can only be good.
Tried for the first time today (Bought the pre-purcheases just today) and I got the line of duels quest, which btw replaced one of my quests so pretty dick move right there, and started to play without too much hope. It just seems very boring to me. It also seem very reliant on getting good treasures. You can have a good deck but then someone shows up with an insane treasure and creams all over you. Just getting the quests out of the way was an absolute nuissance at the end honestly.

The reason why very few Wild cards are played is coz only Naxx is turned on. There are some great cards there but nowhere near close to C&C, legendary weapons or Frozen Throne.
When the first rotation hits we are gonna see a 10h spike and then spiral down, unless somehow the modes unlocked combine in some ridicilous fashion
Its not great. Everything depends on getting good treasures. Its make or break depending on how lucky you get with treasures. perhaps balance the treasures and make the choices a little more even. getting a bad roll on treasures is frustrating. Theres enough rng and this just adds more. Its just as bad as shared minion pools in BGs.

Why TF is your avatar Harold Shipman?
Yeah or like a chess speed mode. You have to bank your time for your longer turns
