To me, this was the biggest announcement. 35 more cards coming in the middle of the next expansion - a >25% increase in available cards per year; presumably to be the case for all expansions going forward (I couldn't find anything that spoke to it one way or the other as being a one time thing, but I'm assuming this is going to be every expansion from here forward). Do they plan to increase obtainable resources by 25%? They didn't do that last time when they increased the number of expansions per year. Another way to look at this, is they are nearly adding one extra expansion worth of cards every year! Unless a bunch of more viable archetypes come out of this, you're basically looking at a bunch of more junk unplayable cards standing in the way of getting what you actually need.
I returned to Hearthstone now and I found it very cool to spice things up, but in other hand, I'm afraid that for a lot of players it will slow the pace when it comes to complete the collection and/or the specific cards that are worth playing at the moment (Mostly F2P like me). Let's hope this reward system becomes... "more rewarding"!
The way I heard it, it was going to be similar to the descent of dragons mini-adventure that came out mid expansion last year. As in, the cards weren't obtained from packs, but from a small pve addition to the game.

Helpful Clarification on Forbidden Topics for Hearthstone Forums:
Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
Leave it to the forum folk to find adding new cards to a collectable card game to be a negative.
Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be a "forum whining" if people don't like the fact that they have to dedicate increasingly more and more time and/or money to keep up with the game or accept the fact they can no longer be as competitive as earlier/quit the game.
For the moment, I haven't seen any reason to believe it'll be every expansion. Based on the last two game years, I'd expect one every year.
We got Galakrond's Awakening in the Year of the Dragon and now there is mini set planned for the end of the Year of the Phoenix.
It's good news for players who enjoy the extra content and a mid-expansion meta shake up, but I can certainly understand why many players will get frustrated with 35 cards being locked behind a 20€ / 2,800 gold paywall every year.
My hope would be that, while fun, none of cards in the mini set are too OP or meta-defining.
That said they would be added to the darkmoon faire packs and you will be able to craft them!
Ah, I didn't know this. That's a big improvement over GA!
I never got around to buying GA (and doubt I will), but would have liked to have been able to craft the one or two cards I wanted to try (e.g. Rising Winds, Shotbot).

Thanks for pointing that out again. I missed that part yesterday and just rewatched it, and you are right. This is indeed what they are planning to do.

No, they said it would be "halfway-point of each expansion". Also makes sense with the collectible cosmetic expansion coins, that you get for owning 135 unique cards, which is made a lot easier (that is, possible outside of big cash spending) with the mid-expansion. Considering that those coins get their own section next to portraits and card backs, I expect that we'll get these for every expansion moving forward.
I’m afraid that all in all (new rewards system, more cards per year, etc.), a complete collection will cost more to maintain. I hope I’m wrong.
I wish they'd reduce expansions to five cards a year. That way I'd only have to buy one pack every year to maintain a complete collection, because what's important about this game is that I MUST OWN EVERY CARD!

Well, to enjoy the game to its fullest - yes. Maybe not every card, but at least most of them. A huge part of fun in card games is building and playing different decks.

Thanks for clarifying. I watched few YouTube videos on the various changes last night, but not the full expansion launch.

But if there's more cards, there are more potential decks to build and play, see? So more cards = more fun

Unless you don't have time and or money to actually collect the cards. Yeah, got it, no one forces you to play, choose a cheaper hobby. But still people have right to express what they don't like in a game they play.

Hello!

This is great for keeping ranked mode fun and not so stale:
1) New expansion comes 1 month earlier than expected
2) Mini expansion to come halfway through the new expansion
Good job blizzard!
So far the consensus seems to be that everybody likes it. How do you all plan getting the cards then? Another real money purchase then?
I’m afraid that all in all (new rewards system, more cards per year, etc.), a complete collection will cost more to maintain. I hope I’m wrong.
Take a walk on the wild side...
Yeah this is might be the most important update to hearthstone in years or ever. Most of us get burn out by mid expansion.

I'm leaning this way, too. I've found ladder a tad tedious for the last few weeks.

More stupid complaints!
