It’s very interesting to me that so many people get angry and frustrated with Hearthstone. I mean after all it’s just a “game” isn’t it. It is right? Just a “game”.....well, actually it’s a program that looks and feels like a game but what it actually is, is a program to study and control human behavior. Wow that’s crazy I bet you’re thinking now, but is it crazy really. Think about it. When scientists study animal behavior it’s often in the form of a game or puzzle. But human intellect, even the most basic puzzles become boring or stale after a while so the experiment would be short lived. To solve this problem they made it competitive, who doesn’t want to win at something right, then introduced a series of variables to keep the test subjects, you and me too, interested by giving us a sense of control. You build your deck, it’s yours play as you like. Except for the fact that it’s competitive and nobody likes to lose. And then the trap is set. Ever wonder why so many games end on perfect 0 HP, or how you or your opponent draw(s) the perfect card at the perfect time to secure that come from behind victory. Well now you know. And I’ll bet you’re thinking, that’s a stretch. Is it really? One of the most difficult things to deal with in programming is what? VARIABLES. With any card being able to be played it becomes increasingly difficult to control however what if I told you there were certain variables, let’s call them cards, that increase your chances of winning. Would you use them? And then what if I told you that there were people that direct you to play those cards and show you how to use them. Would you use them then? And if you chose Yes to both those questions guess what you did? Exactly what I wanted/needed you to do. Lowered the number of variables I have to consider when programming. Yeah but what if someone plays cards that aren’t the recommended set? Well they lose. Oops I mean they get bad RNG. That could mean poor draw timing or the wrong enemy is targeted by random effects anything that is supposed to be random. So let’s sum it all up. The developers are controlling your mind. RNG isn’t as random as we believe it to be and pro players are the puppet masters working with their dev overlords to rules us all. If you’ve made it this far then I’ve got a confession to make. None of the above is actually, as far as I know, true. It’s just how I coupe with the loses and terrible RNG that sometimes plagues my self created decks. I don’t like to netdeck so I often build my own. How do you coupe with losing while continuing to play Hearthstone? Comment below and thanks for reading.
Curiously enough subjects do engage more in gamified (with scores and ranks) visual attention tasks as when compared to a normal task. A collegue of mine is basing her PhD thesis in cogntion, depression and special designed videogames to improve symptoms.
On topic: I love the RNG aspect of HS. Winning/losing to a glorious Yogg Box feels nice. You get to witness the RNG gods. That's a cool thing about HS. It's not just another boring cardgame with cards that have long text and is based around 100% on strategy. Look at the visuals and compare them to other online cardgames. HS is the "Disneyland" in the genre. Log in, play your flashy cards with flashy effects and colors and have fun. I for one love this.

To be honest, yes I am dead serious when I play HS. Reason is quite simple: I like card games and HS is still one of the best out there. There is one more factor that I want to mention, I am married and have kids, thus my game time per day is very limited, this is the only game that gives me at least some satisfaction for that limited amount of game time (if the RNG gods favor me I have a blast of a time, if they don't my whole day gaming day is forfeit)
That is why I hate people who rope, that is why I hate silly disconnects or slow players even at 1 mana(jeez what is there to think), people who go filling their time with emotes instead of playing.
So yes I can get angry or frustrated sometimes because my game time is limited, I play a game to have fun and have some quality time, the moment my expectations are not being met it is normal to get frustrated or angry because I need to wait 1 day before I can play again.
I've played this game since GvG's launch, and I start a round at least a couple of games a week. I only ever netdeck when I can add a personal twist OR when it's clearly a non-top-tier deck like, idk, Totem Shaman.
Due to having seen and played with so many archetypes over the years, I find it quite easy to come up with working decks and pick out poorly performing cards quite quickly. Of course my decks are still rough around the edges. My win rate I feel is nominal (around 50%) which I feel is to be expected. But tbh I never JUST play Hearthstone. I like to Netflix next to it.
Last night I homebrewed a wild beast druid tempo deck. If course it's not actually viable against the top tier highlander decks (while I can still sneak in a win occasionally) but that's not a problem at all for me.
Nice catch btw. I like me a drawn out troll... No doubt there will be several more that won't be able to make it to the end, or read the comments before spewing out their triggerrabble.

Your post is badly constructed so, at first, I thought that you were crying about manipulated RNG. Thank you for not doing that :-) (I'm not saying that RNG manipulation can't exist but all rants regarding RNG manipulation are just far-fetched theories).
You say that they are controlling our minds. That is not entirely wrong, I mean, they kinda do that by making Hearthstone addictive. Blizzard, over the years, has proved to be good at making addictive games, and the same applies to all popular video games.
Regarding your question, when I'm on a lose streak, I often get pissed off and blame players who are playing Tier 1 decks because I am getting tired of playing against the same "cancerous" decks most of the time. When I cool down, I think of it as you said; Hearthstone is competitive and playing Tier 1 decks is almost the only way to rank up, so it's natural that people play these decks. Personally, I despise net decking and only play decks I like. Perhaps it's a way to feel special :D

So you bow your head. Accepting the inevitable.'Agents' are ruling the 'Matrix'. Waiting for 'Neo' to liberate from mindlessness.
Winning in Hearthstone means playing better mindless than others. It takes skill to be mindless. That is what developers want Hearthstone to be. After 6 years playing this is my definition of skill in Hearthstone.
So with your home-brew 'creative' deck, that is difficult to steer and commands lots of skill to win with (if that is even possible), you will have no chance against tierdecks. So RNG isn't the problem, printing cards for a target audience is. Apparently you are not part of them.

Matrix? It takes skill to be mindless? I kinda lost you there.
I've reached legend the last few months using my homebrew decks and I guarantee you I can beat tier decks just fine with them.
Regarding RNG, it is fine if you don't count mage where RNG heavily favours them most times. Every mother and her child playing mage plays that annoying clown fiesta deck.

No, it is not
Actually, that just increases the difficulty. If blizz devs were after making a programming easy, they would actually use RNG, not some "rigged RNG".
TL;DR
I am never really serious about HS. Too much pepegas playing cancer decks, but IDGAF. I just play and never autoconcede. Trying to have fun.
EU 11/2015+ , f2p 03/2021+: DK 63 / DH 205 /Dr 277 / Hu 733 / Ma 6666 / Pa 1072 / Pr 1165 / Ro 1791 / Sh 1303 / Wl 707 / Wr 664
I meant to get a controlled outcome. But I definitely appreciate you reading. :)

Ah, yes, I understand. It all makes sense now.
Such an awful wall of text you lost my interest. If you want to be taken seriously as intellectual try using paragraphs!
Is that a murloc? Yawn....conceede!

Conspiracy theories, anti vaxxers, offended people and religious nutjobs - Why can't we just have a normal world
occams razor: Complaining about things on the internet is what the internet is for

If you skip to the end you find out it was all sarcasm and he doesn't really want to be taken seriously.
I like turtles.

Conspiracy theory/trolling wall of texts should be the end boss of something.
I wish OP would bother to do a tl;dr because nobody isn't going to read a wall of text which isn't properly structured.

Right lol I think so too

We make our world significant through the courage of our questions and the depth of our answers.
