Do you think the OP is "filled with hate", is frustrated, or that he is responding to a "stimulus that evokes the memory of a traumatic event or episode"? Really? He seemed pretty calm to me.
Saying one objectively doesn't like something does not mean you have some sort of extreme, hate filled emotional response to it. Just like not everyone who disagrees with you is a "snowflake" to use another stupid term. If you find the discussion trivial you don't have to add to the thread, but this forum is for a discussion of all things Hearthstone including cards and their flavour .
Probably the one thing more childish than Bronze Explorer art is getting upset by criticism of it and coping by spamming 'sassy' Game of Thrones gifs. If you don't care so much then there's no need for your input, especially if you're input amounts to, "y r u triggered dood".
I stand by the statement that HS art started off mostly adult themed. Posting 3 or 4 counter examples doesn't quite offset the other 100+ cards. I also stated that overly cartoonish art sacrifices the anatomical details that we recognize in Warcraft races. You're an idiot if you thought I was referring to anatomical correctness vs real life. Especially since this thread is a about a Dragon. Seriously how thick would you have to be?
I'll reiterate that pointing out crappy art is perfectly acceptable, and everyone else is absolutely allowed to disagree or even give reasons to the contrary. But if you're just going to randomly wheel out cards that aren't even being discussed, and hypocritically declare that the OP is invalid because you believe more cartoonish art examples exist, perhaps you need to get a life and stop obsessing over other people having opinions, sharing and discussing them?
Should I continue? Because I'm pretty sure I still missed some... -.-
Please continue scrolling through the cards list, I don't think you got enough to justify the Facebook mom tier reaction gif
The GvG examples aren't really valid, since I specified the start of HS. Plus, while some of them are silly and fun, none of them are actually overly childish, sourced from outside Warcraft lore or engineered to appeal to children...
As for the classic/basic examples, you seem to be mistaking poorly drawn or zany art for childish/lore-unfriendly art. I don't even know what your point with Heroic Strike is, it looks exactly like something I'd expect from the early Warcraft card game. Honestly all you've accomplished is that you've displayed what examples of cards you seem to have a problem with. Personally I think they're all fine but you believe I should be looking at them if I'm going to complain about poor card art?
Ignoring pretty much everything but the op posting (for a good reason):
The artwork is a bit childish, but it's much more flavorful than you give it credit for. The dragon looks like a dorky boy scout that tells kids to look left and right before crossing the streets. As that, he's a perfect fit for Paladins: goody two-shoes lawful idiots. ONLY a Paladin would want to hang out with such a dragon.
The artwork is intentionally silly. It's meant to stick out among the dragons to remind everyone that Paladins are dorks.
I've been wanting hearthstone art team to 'edge-lord' it up since the beginning. I loved Old Gods more than any expansion thanks to the lovecraftian theme in a lot of the card art. I really hated the nerfing of the fan service and violence card arts. I don't have a massive problem with the overly 'cutesy' cards' but the fact they still exist but we're not allowed any more cleavage or blood, and gore really twists my titties.
A lot of the Paladin dragons are more humanoid, hence why they can talk and hold maps. Amber watcher says “Looks like I got here just in time!” and sounds like a cartoon narrator. And that map is there to help him find other lost dragons, hence why he came prepared. Reminds me of Ducktales, which while a children’s show, is still cool af.

If you think the card art for Kill Command is "fine," I think we know all we need to know about your ability to critique art.

The Kill Command art was originally made for the warcraft card game by a guest artist who I believe won a contest, so I don't count it. If that became a regular occurance then it would be a different story.
Again though, you aren't really taking on board the criticism of Bronze Explorer at all. No one here has complained that it is poorly drawn, it's actually very well drawn. It's the content of the art that's being discussed. So maybe try and get with the program before getting snarky.
Sigh... Too much nonsense and silly assumptions in this thread. I will reply properly to some posts in a few days. Sorry, but currently now I have no times for games!!! :P
Having said that, I still hope everyone here is having a great start to this new year!!!

Wouldn't it be easier, then, to simply "not count" this other card you hate so much? By your own admission, so-called "childish art" is not a "regular occurrence." Otherwise, the rest of your argument would be dead on arrival.

Bronze Explorer follows the pattern of a number of cards that fit the theme of baby dragons / beasts etc. As such, its art style fits in with this perfectly well enough. Hearthstone's art range is fairly diverse and wide due to the number of different artists and styles and though they have claimed to want to try and unify the core style, there will always be some that sit on a more outlying area of the art world.
Not to mention that art is a fickle thing anyway and there will always be lovers and haters of any artistic creation.
I'm actually very surprised to see such an avalanche of shitposting to what is seemingly either quite a disturbing topic or just more subtle trolling than on average.

I don't "not count" ANY cards, I don't "hate" any of the cards mentioned. I never said "childish art is not a regular occurance". You couldn't even quote me saying any of this. What a joke. Just because you're upset that I'm making some sense in the face of flaming argument instigators.

What pattern of baby dragons and beasts does Bronze Explorer follow exactly? It doesnt look like any that I've seen. It looks like a grown Dragon, shrunk down with a gigantic head uselss little baby wings and an anthropomorphic body. Unlike anything seen in Hearthstone or Warcraft, meanwhile the other Dragon explorers have perfectly recognizable features.
As has been mentioned already, right at the start by OP this isn't about the art style. It's about the disfigured, out-of-place nature of the arts subject.

You said you don't count Kill Command because it comes from the WoW TCG.
You told Sherman his examples were not "childish/lore-unfriendly," implying that he'd have trouble find childish examples.
And I agree the only card art you seem to hate is Bronze Explorer, which is the whole point of this discussion.
I'm ignoring you now because you are obviously just trying to stir up shit.

Looking forward to some more stupid GoT gifs!
op has the courage to say what we've all been thinking........

This thread is about a Dragon card... not Jaina, or boom bots or any of the other races you mentioned...
Maybe you should think about your comment a little longer next time before contributing, so you understand properly what you're replying to :)
Have a great new years eve, try not to spend too much of it searching for Looney Toon style bombs to strawman people on the internet.

I always thought that the flavor text In hearthstone is extremely dumb, with very few exceptions.I really like the art tho
Edit: I like the art in general ,bronze explorer really seems too childish
lel
you're the one who brought up "anatomical" correctness...about dragons, bud.
but good try tho
