I have, without exaggeration, faced 7 different quest shamans in a row on ladder. I'm climbing with a Highlander Paladin deck and I actually have an okay winrate against them so far (5-2), but since I'm literally seeing almost no other deck I figure I may as well tech against it.
So what deck is the strongest counter to quest shaman?
I've hammered alot of them with aggro overload shaman..you just need to significantly pressure them and be mindful of MC Tech...go face and then lava them down etc.. can muck around with the general builds available depending what you're encountering at your point on ladder
Yeah early pressure is probably the best way since quest Shaman only has Lifedrinker as healing. Also Mozzy Horror can be great against Giggling Inventor.
I mainly play Quest Druid and it stomps over Quest Shaman. You just keep answering their board and don’t overextend into MCT. Unless they roll an early Mogu Fleshshaper + an evolve effect, the matchup should be fairly easy.
Well, here's the thing -- there are several different versions of Quest Shaman, and their lists differ substantially.
So there's no such thing as "how to beat Quest Shaman." The question is meaningless unless you get more specific.
But the MC Tech advice is solid, as that's one thing they all have in common. It's always a game-ending mistake to overextend against it. Generally, you'll want to avoid decks that rely on going wide.

The standard list gets murdered by Priest. The techy list is a little harder depending on how much tech they put in. Quest Druid is also favoured but I think its closer than the statistics suggest if the Shaman player is decent.

Can you elaborate on this? E.g., does this mean that you try to avoid Nourish? Do you try and trade Oasis Surger into their 5/5s from Former Champ? Do you try to hold a Swipe or Starfall to prevent a Giggling Inventor + Barista 2-turn combo? Do you try and hold spells for a really big King Phaoris and tempo them out?
You write as though Quest Shaman will always go beatdown, but I've always felt like as Quest Druid I'm the one on a clock since lackeys, Shudderwock, etc give them so much value and Lifedrinker and Giggling gives them so much durability.

*edit: 5-2 not 5-3 lol
Quest paladin works good against Quest shaman
Actually it's not favored because of MCT. combo priest is the best counter since you can get your combo off before shaman can finish the quest.
S39 Legend - Quest Rogue, S38 Legend - Murloc Paladin, S37 Legend - Miracle Rogue, S36 Top 200 Legend - Aggro Shaman, S35 - Finished Rank 51 Legend - Aggro Shaman, S34 Legend - Aggro Shaman

You can counter it easily with combo priest, control warrior, murloc paladin, quest paladin, aggro rogue, aggro overload shaman---
