You guys ever see that all-too-common phenomenon where someone calls a deck "brainless" and you know, deep down, they don't have enough understanding of the game to spot an IQ play?
Similarly, when people make comments about what a bad business decision Blizzard is making, don't you get that feeling that maybe the company with one of the best track records in the industry for hit:miss ratio and acid tests (look it up) might know something they don't?
There are several reasons why offering Jaraxxus as an independent purchase could be a poor decision. Let's say they offer MJ for $10. Obviously, some people would pay $10 for the portrait who would not buy the 80 bundle either way. However, some people who are on the fence about buying the 80 bundle would choose to just buy the portrait when they otherwise would have decided to buy the bundle.
Each member of the 1st group would represent a $10 gain. Each member of the second would represent a $70 loss. In other words, there would need to be more than 7 people who bought the MJ portrait for every 1 who chose to skip the mega-bundle or Blizzard would have lost money by offering the portrait alone. This doesn't even get into the advantages of offering it AFTER the preorder, but that's harder to quantify.
Most of the posts on this thread are completely subjective essays on entitlement. Some relate to the seemingly crazy converted prices, and they seem to have a good point. But all the business talk that concludes Blizzard is making some huge misstep comes from either complete speculation or staggering ignorance.
Also, I used to laugh and say I'd be happy to be a Blizzard shill. Compared to basically every other player in the industry, Blizz has certainly earned the benefit of the doubt since . . . well I guess it'd be Warcraft 2. Fortunately, eight years ago I read the tea leaves and actually invested in Activision. It worked out quite well. Not sure why that would change the truth of what I said above, but full disclosure and all.

Solution----> Amazon Coins offer, 65€ for Megabundle its better than normal Bundle.

Yeah well, so i set up Bluestacks, downloaded Amazon Appstore, and from there i downloaded Hearthstone app.
Then used the 65 euros offer. This was 12 hours ago.
As of now, i still dont have the coins, this is, i cant see the coin balance anywhere, and when i go into the Hearthstone app shop, it only show's "purchase with 1-click", it doesnt show to purchase with Amazon coins. The first time buying coins and i gotta admit it's way too clunky and troublesome, i'm already regretting it.
Btw i'm in Spain, and it shows the prices of Appstore and Hearthstone in Dollars, for some unknown reason. I mean wtf... yeah so much for saving with Amazon coins and all that ,but ppl really dont get involved bc it is actually such a bothersome chore. We'll see how i solve this bulls*** problem now...
EDIT: I contacted customer service in Amazon Spain. Apparently there was some problem with the Amazon marketplace, which was set to the US. They solved it, and now i can purchase stuff.
I bought the Mega Bundle and still have 2k amazon coins, which allow me to buy 15 more packs once the expac launches. This means i bought a total of 95 packs+golden legendary+cardback+Mecha J for 65 euros, which is imo an awesome deal :D
YOU SPENT 65 EUROS!!! Thats my whole years salary!!

I mean the way they introduced different characters for us to play as(medivh, sylvannas) was by paying 10 USD for them. This is the same thing except you get a better price on packs and you get this free added bonus. YOU dont have to buy this. If you are this obsessed with collectibles then you must be crying that you can't get all the cardbacks. It isn't the end of the world not to get this hero.
A new hero portrait is locked to a limited time $80 preorder when we used to get heroes for free
If people buy this bundle it would give ActiBlizz incentive to do more and tie more heroes to them.
1) The first different Hero portraits WERE NOT FREE !!! They cost $10 each and came with a special card back.
2) I hope they do more bundles and add stuff like new portraits/legendary's/card back/whatever. I'm gonna spend the money anyway..... might as well get packs at a discount and get some extra stuff while I'm at it.

Wtf you surely have preordered both bundles already. We all know all americans are rich, dont try to kid us kappa.
And yet, i'm happy with what i got for my money, specially considering the cries around this issue LOL
comparing hearthstone preorders to preordering games is not correct in my opinion. because if you preorder after the full reveal stream you know exactly what to expect and whether you want to buy packs for this expansion or not. it's not like they are forcing you to buy the "pig in a poke" (funny, in my language that figure of speech is about a "cat in the sack").
generally i'd agree with your opinion on preorders and of course i think it's sad that the skin is locked behind a paywall. but the preorder itself is still a great deal for everyone that would have bought 50 or 80 packs anyway.
personally i think i will only be buying the 50€ bundle, because i have more than 12k gold saved. and yes jaraxxus would have been cool but i think i can live without it (and without regretting that decision later on) ;)
I would be so mad if they put MJ in the store for 10$ after the pre purchase period.
WHY ??????
Mecha-Jaraxxus is just something extra IMO. I bought both bundles just for the discounted pack prices, which I'm sure is why most people bought one or both of the bundles, for the packs ........ Not to many people would be willing to spend $80 (U.S.) just for a hero skin.... Now a card back, that's different story :p I bought "Legacy of the Void" just for the card back. I've never played SCI or SCII. I really don't even like RTS games TBH.

So i come from a magic the gathering background and personally believe that this isnt the most toxic with 2 tiers of purchase. In mtg you can pre order booster boxes of 36 packs which is around $150 aud and you get a promo foil and 540 cards with a minimum of 37 rares one will be foil. The exculisive art promo is to entice the buyer. This is 400 cards and a minimum of 77 rares and 3 legendaries for $110 aud. The hero portrait is a little shitty dont get me wrong. But i think its fine to entice a higher purchase with a reward people would want. Now should they have done 70 packs and legendary for $65 aud and 100 packs for $110 aud plus legendary and portrait. That would be great and a great way to promote the game. The level that this preoder is at is inine with normal preoders for physical card game though.
Thanks for reading this essay feel free to throw shit at me for my opinion. peace
This thread should have stopped after the first post. Trying to pair the buzzword of loot boxes and attach it to packs is like trying to pair the words shit and peanut butter for the sake of making an argument on "which is the more edible/healthy for you to consume".
First thing comes first, packs and loot boxes are -NOT- the same thing. At. All. Just ask Electronic Arts and WB about how their recent games turned out when they attempted to try and pull stunts to lock things necessary to the game play behind a their paywall, WHILE charging $60 to enjoy their game experience (you can see Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Middle Earth: Shadow of War for those examples). In Overwatch, there is a -option- to buy loot boxes for nifty skins during events and those are a HUGE gamble/investment for trying to get what you want... However it's an -option-.... No one is forcibly holding a gun to my skull or yours telling me or you to "buy these loot boxes or you can't play the game". Completely optional. If you sink your money into it for the gamble of getting -insert character here skin- and you don't get it, that's on you for sinking the money in and -gambling- to get that skin. You take a chance and you can lose out a lot of money. There -is- a gold option and they have held yearly events each year for certain skins and when the new event comes around, the older skins get discounted during that time to where if you have the gold, you can buy said skin. For example, I am a Reaper main, I want -all- of his skins. However, I don't -have- to spend $$ on trying to get his Halloween skin, the Biker skin, the Soldier 26 (even though I REALLY, reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllly wanted that skin at the time), etc, I'm given the option and temptation to drop $$ in for the gamble of it, but I also have the self control to go, you know what? Nope. That right there is a gamble I am not willing to take and make because there is no way I can properly say, "I will obtain this skin"
Now I can move over to the packs side of this discussion because THIS is where I will be most at home. I've played and enjoyed TCG's for a good chunk of my life growing up. Hell, I even would plant cards on the table and face off against people to win other cards. I also did business in the second hand market to make money to pay my bills and help build my decks. Games like Pokemon, Yugioh, and Magic (since they are the 3 titans in the TCG world) are what I like to call the "cardboard crack" games. It's not a slight against them, however, the prices of some of the cards for "meta decks" and just decks in general make the outcry that people have against Hearthstone laaaaaaaaaaaaughable.. Especially if you are a collector.... "$300 for this Blue-Eyes White Dragon? $600 for this deck because 3 cards in it cost 100+??" Yeah, people dropping upwards of $30-150+ for cards to be apart of the "meta" game in games like Yugioh and Magic, that's in the second hand market alone. IF and this is IF you are lucky enough to pull the uber card you want from that $4 pack that you take a risk and gamble on when you buy it, you won't have to worry about it. Otherwise, you're gonna cough up $4.25 per Yugioh pack OR drop $80 on 24 packs, praying you at least break even in the secondary market once it is all said and done or get the cards you want in 1 whack (which, HAHA, ain't gonna happen slick). Same can be said for Magic. Depending the meta game, you -could- walk into Wal-Mart, buy 3 starter decks of X game and have a go at competition, but if you're missing key cards, you still gotta cough up more, or pray for a sucker to come along to trade for the things you're missing.
With Hearthstone, it's an online CCG that's free to play. You have the ability to say "sure, I'll drop X amount of dollars on this game" ORRRRRRRRRRRRR you can play for free and literally take the time to craft and grind for your meta game deck. There are some cheap dust decks and then there's decks out there that are dust expensive and the beauty of it all, is that you have the choice on what you want to try and go for in this as well as other online card games. Cosmetics are just another thing that get tacked on to for companies to make $$ for people who want to sink in the money for these things because, "look at me, imma shiny shiny princess. weeeeee". No one is FORCING you to BUY -anything- in Hearthstone... Or Gwent.... Or Elder Scrolls.... Or Magic Alpha.... Or Duelyst... Or Shadowverse.... Or Fortnite..... Or -insert f2p game here-. You literally have freedom of CHOICE.
They’re gonna milk this game as much as possible until Artifact and Gwent 1.0 comes out aren’t they? It was bad enough that they were charging $50 to preorder loot boxes, but now there’s a second preorder option, the Mega Bundle.
For those who don’t know, the regular preorder bundle is $50, and comes with 50 cardpacks, the Mecha-Jaraxxus cardback, and a free golden legendary card.
Now the Mega Bundle on the other hand is $80! What do you get for 80? You still get the cardback and golden legendary, but instead of 50 cardpacks you get 80, as well as an alternate Warlock hero portrait: Mecha-Jaraxxus.
That’s it. That’s all you get. For $30 more dollars you get a few more glorified loot boxes and a skin. $80 for a hero portrait, and it’s one that the majority of people will want too. This is beyond ridiculous. For two years they have been offering hero portraits for free where we had to do something to get them, like play WoW, or go to a Fireside Gathering, or beat Frozen Throne. They were all great. But now, they’ve locked a skin of a very popular character behind a $80 preorder paywall, that once the expansion launches you can’t get it anymore. They also said there are no plans to rerelease Mecha-Jaraxxus, so anyone who wanted to get that skin are out of luck.
I cannot fathom how ludicrous this is. $80 and all they’re offering is a skin, a skin that is highly popular. I know why they did it too, because they know people love Jaraxxus so they made him an expensive preorder bonus.
I beg you, do not buy this Mega Bundle. Vote with your wallet. Show ActiBlizz this is too far and horribly anti-consumer.
Alternatively, don't buy it b/c it's just a cosmetic skin...
Pretty much the reason Epic Games has made 1 billion + in a single year from Fortnite. It's all cosmetics. That billion $ is all from cosmetics. It's all from cosmetics! This is a tremendous incentive towards other companies chasing after monetized cosmetics, because the potential profits are huge for little effort by the company. You can say don't buy it, but the reason it was made was so people would buy it and you can't really ignore that. Blizz is basically trying harder to make greater margins on the same content they sold for much lower sums in the past.
In Overwatch, there is a -option- to buy loot boxes for nifty skins during events and those are a HUGE gamble/investment for trying to get what you want... However it's an -option-.... This isn't about your choices unfortunately. I'm the same when it comes to OW loot. But there are a ton of people who do gamble on cosmetics and buy stuff for pretty exorbitant prices, and me and you aren't the target audience. It's often much younger people who lack a) self control and b) the understanding of value for money vs. value for time.

Well I know two guys who just bought the bundle. Not because of Jaraxxus , because of the 80 cards( and the golden Legendary probably) .
One of them didn’t even play any Warloc at all.
